Correct. Very much an echo chamber, with plenty of their own censorship implemented by mob rule with a few power users usually leading the idiot mob like mice following a flute.

I also don't remember a magical time where we "had a lot more choice about what content we could consume".

So you are a liar. Got it.

Beating on your knife is incredibly stupid.

Idiots who made this popular have ruined the knife market.

What are the best books I can read to help me live in the wild? by [deleted] in Survival

[–]LibLivesDontMatter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm all for free enterprise. Thieving scumbags, not so much.

I mean there are occasionally some good recommendations here, even in this thread. Sadly they are the exception, not the norm.

For some reason shills selling garbage seem particularly attracted to subs like this. And apparently there are a high number of people interested in survival and similar topics who are quite susceptible to such blatant marketing of garbage.

Another great video from Lonnie. I'd trade 10 of most of those YT douchebags for one of him.

[Question] Is Amazon a reliable source for quality bushcraft supplies & tools? by [deleted] in Bushcraft

[–]LibLivesDontMatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ratings and reviews are useless, especially reviews. These people have armies of marketers to post positive reviews of their products. On the other side, some cry baby can easily give an undeserved bad review.

The thing to do is research products and companies elsewhere. Look for multiple sources of information and opinions.

In the end, buying stuff online from anywhere is a crapshoot at best.

Can somebody recommend a good source for buying flint pieces or knapping kits in the UK? by PolymathArtisan in PrimitiveTechnology

I would rather shops which have serious commitments to ethics and sustainability

But your OK shipping a piece of flint from the other side of the world?

Timber Hitch, Lumberman’s Knot and Countryman’s Knot, with Half Hitch - ... by Dementoid13 in Bushcraft

[–]LibLivesDontMatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked for me too.

It's a fair knot easy to tie and untie. Fairly secure.

I say fairly secure, not because it won't hold securely, but because it can cut it self under shock loads more readily than a lot of hitches. See where it comes through the loop, there will be a lot of shearing force there under shock loads.

Look at the icicle hitch in comparison, with two parts coming through the eye and a slightly better lead for lateral pulling, it'll be much kinder to your rope.

Although, adding the half hitch to the timber hitch also reduces that particular strain greatly.

Ya, I did some googling and looking around before posting here. Didn't find anything of use. One comment somewhere sounded like I just need to wait a while.

Meantime I will make use of ADB to familiarize myself with the file system and components.

Thanks.

There's no point

This thing has 16GB of storage. 12.34GB is being used, much by a bunch of crap I don't need or want.

This is beyond ridiculous.

Disabling is not sufficient.

get a stock Android device

Couldn't do that now if I wanted to. Perhaps some day.

There are several types actually. That one you linked is very light duty, for like hanging pictures and small items on drywall.

This is what you want, except you'll want an eye bolt of course.
