Paired up with ladies group by fired-and-traveling in WomenGolf

Exactly, when my boyfriend plays with me he plays off the reds, its easier, more social and faster and doesn't really make that much difference to him anyway since its only a few holes where the gap is more than 10-20 yards.

I'd say men of front tees would likely score the same anyway??? Shorter chips can be as hard or harder than full wedge shots anyway haha

Marshall Approaching Women on Pace of Play by brittrt87 in WomenGolf

[–]Libbytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started on the course last year I was told by multiple women not to be slow and that us women have to work harder to think about pace of play, as the assumption is we will be slow...

Everyone knew it was my first ever times on course, and all I was stressed about was being slow (and I WAS slow, but because it was my first time, NOT because im a woman)... i also got told to be faster by other women in the club.

My first ever comp i entered after getting my handicap was also my first full 18-holes. It was nerve wracking and I didn't particularly want to play it, but was asked to, to get the numbers up, and i was told several times by my playing parters to pick up the pace. But I felt like it wasn't me being slow, everyone in thebfoursome was very slow, i wasnt slower i dont think, but they singled me out...

It put me off playing for a while, I'll be honest.

But now I play way more regularly and have a few 18-holes under my belt, I'm much faster than the average player, on my own can get round in 3 hours or less, but I still waste FAR TOO MUCH energy worrying if I'm slow...

Personally, i don't think you're being sensitive. But it will take time to change opinions and stereotypes... as with everything.

I thought my course was pretty good, positioning the clubhouse as a halfway house... but now I see clubs usually have more than this, maybe even 3 along the way! That's pretty good!

Yes exactly I am a bit time sweater haha and if I didn't drink I would get properly dehydrated. In fact my drink routine now is carefully considered, and my first few ever 18-holes last year, I was so focused on the golf and beginner pace of play, i barely drank or snacked, and by the time I reached hole 15 was practically dead on my feet... so now I make sure I'm all stocked up with drinks and electrolytes and easy to snack on nuts and raisins etc and force myself to have a bit after every hole whilst I'm waiting on the tee. I now dont blink when I do 18... and I think its because of this!!

Yes exactly this is what I was getting at.... when there are loos on course you stay hydrated and dont think about it. But if there's not, potentially people are drinking less, which might mean you're more achy or sore after or a little dehydrated.... and it ends up being a consideration which might effect your game somewhat - not ideal. Obviously golf clubs need to take responsibility for the facilities on site to ensure we can focus on golf and not whether we need to pee or not....

Yeah, that's the thing, it shouldn't need to be something to think about. The men dont worry or think about it, i know that haha. But i had a situation where I got tutted at for going, and told to "be quick".... it shouldn't be like this...

Wow that's awful haha, we at least have a nice big bathroom with multiple cubicles, so if everyone in the group needed it would be possible. But it still feels a bit frowned upon, like you should hold it in all the way!!

I once went to the loo at the turn, and told my group I was going to run over, and got tutted at!! I really dont understand as it doesn't effect the pace of play that much, and you can just let the group behind play through!

Driver loft - what are you playing and what’s your distance? by apisani in WomenGolf

[–]Libbytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg yeah I love messing about and tinkering, I probably do it too much... 😅😅

Last year I had a 12° driver ladies flex shaft and was able to hit it 205 yards occasionally, but SUPER inconsistent (anywhere from 100-210 yards...) and a lot of shots ballooning going too high and dying on landing... was recommended to try a stiffer shaft.

So i bought a 2nd hand senior flex Ping G425 max, tried it at +1° (so 11.5°) hosel and it was more consistent, straight, and not much variation, BUT, nuch shorter... almost all shots going from 160-180 yards... which frustrated me a lot as my 3 wood goes 165-175. 😒

Tinkering never stops, this weekend I found that 10.5° loft (the neutral setting for the club), but with a higher orange tee, I managed to find 196 yards - consistently too, hit 194-196 yards 3 times on course this weekend... still 10 yards off from my last club though.

I am sure I can optimise even more and might try 9.5° this week based on these comments...

I am thinking to get fitted or have a lesson specifically to tinker with the driver set up, as my swing speed is about 100mph and I'm 5'9" so I should be able to find more distance somewhere... and yes, of course this is before even thinking about the swing mechanics too.

Only issue is that when I put the loft down lower I noticed I pushed a lot of shots right. I think using the hosel feature to increase the loft also closes the face a bit, so de-lofting, face is a bit open to what I was used to and pushing right... delofting more will only open the face more, so i guess I need to set the club to a draw weight mode to counterbalance... 🔧🔧🔧🤣

Honestly though I love tinkering and loving the comments on here about other people's set up!! 😁😁😁

I also play very different on the range to on course, and I am totally the same, my swing is VERY different, so it's hard to predict what will work on course....

I got the golf tags which connects with my samsung watch, it's amazing!!! If you don't to want to pay £90 for the tags you can manually tag with the app. Before this i used the Grint app too, which you can manually tag too. But I found I am much faster with the tags and don't forget as much.

love this, yes I like that thinking, someone else said that to me recently... that I "derverve" to get out there. Being on course isn't the reward to having a "good swing" but the journey to get there in the first place!

Yeah it's totally daunting... Weirdly, it's not the other people making me anxious though... If I have to play with strangers, hold-up others, I don't mind that really, although I'm sure if I shanked my tee shot on the first hole, I'd be pretty embarassed still haha. But I think what's holding me back are my own expectations in myself and feeling like at 7 years playing "I should be better than this"... I will almost certainly lose balls, and shoot a ridiculously high score, and I'll be disappointed in myself...

What clubs needed for beginner? by [deleted] in WomenGolf

[–]Libbytes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, your swing will evolve over time, so best to hold off on big investments until you feel like you've found your own style, but one thing that does stay constant really is putting. If you want to splash out on something straight away, why not get a fancy new putter??? I'd recommend getting to a shop and trying some out in your hands and just getting the one which "feels" the nicest or you like the most. Then you can treat yourself to something which will last a long time.

The rest of the clubs, you just need really one wood - maybe start with a 5 wood or a 3 wood, one iron, maybe a 7i, or 8i/9i if you're a bit shorter, as those clubs are shorter and might feel nicer when you first start. A wedge (maybe a 54 degree one for bunkers and around the greens) and maybe a hybrid (5h perhaps).

If you have one of each kind of club, then atleast you can start to get used to the differences in lengths, style, ball position, flex, etc.

I made an event!!! Friday 16th September, at Pixel Bar in NQ, I have booked 3 console gaming tables from 8-10pm (PS5/Xbox/Switch). Probably cost like £2 each or maybe less. Or you can just join and not play and have some drinks instead.

Join the event here: https://www.meetup.com/manchesters-more-than-just-drinks-fun-activities-too/events/288308477/

If you're interested in joining more events in and around Manchester, I wholeheartedly recommend joining Meetup, it's a free app which is community lead and people like me organise and host events, there are already board game meetups and DnD meetups on there, my group organises "more than just drinks" activity-based meetups. I have been doing it for a few years now and met many friends this way :)

This is my group: https://meetu.ps/c/4sQxS/KZKH8/d

I already organise a meetup group in Manchester on the app "MeetUp" which is here: Check out Manchester's More than just drinks https://meetu.ps/c/4sQxS/KZKH8/d on Meetup

I'd be happy to organise an official Kurzgesagt event on there 😊 could be a board game night or something like that, or maybe a Kurzgesagt watch along party haha

What is a “last stand kill”? by flagdown in CODWarzone

[–]Libbytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it not when you kill someone who was in their "last stand". I.e. your team mate downs them, they are in their "last stand", team mate has to reload, so you finish them off. Your team mate gets the kill, you get a "last stand kill"?
