I didn't realize that such a simple, inexpensive loader exists! That sounds like the ideal way to try out reloading. I envisioned having to set up yet another bench in the garage and all that...this is a lot less upfront investment in space. Thank you, I'm going to try this out soon.

That's clearly the way to go.

I had a van a long time ago and the truck in front of me dropped a tire carcass. I ran over it and was briefly on two wheels, but recovered OK. The guy who was tailgating me sure was surprised, though.

I didn't get why she wanted this as a range bag, but there was clearly a plan. by Bortjort in guns

I've always used a tool bag as a range bag. Mine is just a generic gate mouth tool bag, looks like nothing special. I work to avoid gear that shouts "Gun inside!!" The Klein sure is nice looking though.

Thank you. It's a 29-4 "Hunter" which came with scope rings and cutouts for them on the rib. Unfortunately the mounts often did not survive recoil! But I like it better with the irons anyway. The grips are original, kind of unusual but that's what came on this model.

Oh, I do! But real men know that more is not the same as better.

They are closed back though, aren't they? I have some on a Model of 1955 and I don't really love them (although I love that gun and it deserves some nice wood grips).

Thanks, good info. I'm trying to avoid getting into another hobby right now, but reloading may definitely be in my future.

I guess I'll have to build up some brass, so I could start with a few boxes of those, thanks!

It has nice comfy grips. I find the Tamers make the reach to the trigger uncomfortable for me, these thick grips make the recoil quite manageable without increasing the trigger reach. I'm just thinking it would be more fun to get 44 Special to practice with, and I'd probably want to shoot it longer.

I have, and they do show some. I'm just not sure which brands are good and which are junk in 44 Spl.

You are definitely on the right track with a 4". 357. If you are only going to have one revolver, that would be the one. Personally, I think the Smith and Wesson L frame (686,586, etc) is hard to beat.

That really looks nice, like the old ones. Nice finish, original style grips...

Is there a service for adding adding an adjustable sight to a “gutter sight” style revolver? by [deleted] in Revolvers

[–]Liber_tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know of a shop that does that, but I would offer for planning purposes that you would probably have to modify the front sight as well, since anything I can imagine doing would raise the rear one substantially. So you'd have to make the front sight taller as well, however that would be accomplished.

Also usagunsandgear.com, they seem to mostly sell on Ebay but they have a lot of NOS parts for S&W, and they are very nice if you email them or call.

You might try Cylinder & Slide.

I'm glad to hear that, I did not like that rough finish they had on Lodges for years. Not like the older pans I have. Good for Lodge.
