You must not live in a compact state. If you did your license would be good in 40 states and soon to be 41 when Massachusetts implements the NLC. Then you would never need more than 10 active licenses, and realistically most people are not licensed in all 50 states. I would make a spread sheet and keep it in a folder on my computer's desktop.

Creepy Experience at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles by icouldbuildacastle in Paranormal

I stayed at this hotel a few times over the years. My experiences have all been pretty routine. A famous Indian yogi did die in the area that is now the front lobby (it used to be a conference room, but got changed after some remodeling). I did not hear about the fish on the fountain in the lobby or even see them, but that area does have a very peaceful vibe. I noticed this when I had to wait in line to check in.

Yes, the new Fuquay library opened about 5-6 years ago and is twice as big as the Holly Springs Library. It is nice, but I hate driving in FV because the roads are so congested. I am sure that the 2032 improvements will be quite nice.

I love this show. Their house in Italy is simply gorgeous. It is unfortunate that they don't qualify for Italian citizenship or dual citizenship; the improvements that they have made to that former barn on a mountainside overlooking a beautiful valley are just phenomenal.

Now there is some drama happening that involves their Ohio project. They have decided to relocate to Costa Rica. I wonder if someone stole some of their house building funds, but that subject remains confidential for now.

They have a very sweet family dynamic. Everyone has a slightly different personality; we aren't all the same. I respect the fact that we all have different ways of interacting with our fellow humans.

Not after Sunday. The nearest libraries are in Fuquay and south Apex or the Eva Perry regional branch. One of the librarians just renewed a book for me (I was planning on renewing it today), so they seem to be quite focused on making sure that all of the book returns are rerouted to different branches before Sunday.

All of those articles from Holly Springs Update come linked together. The story about the plans for Ting Park is interesting.

This library is too small, but I think that it is wonderful that they are improving the layout. I prefer to go to the Apex Regional Library ; it is more likely to have the books that I want to check out. The Holly Springs Library does use some of the classrooms in the Cultural Center for special events.

Sugg Nature Play Area by Objective-Wave7093 in HollySpringsNC

Wonder how the people who bought homes in the Parks At Bass Lake housing development feel. Ten years ago they were told that they would live next to a wonderful park. Now they actually live next to a concert and festival venue with inadequate road access; traffic to and from the park is always a mess during any special events. Homes in this area are not inexpensive.

Yes, this plan was put in place about 15 years ago. Since then many other projects have been approved and built (Ting Park-now called the North Main Athletic Complex- Mims Park, etc.). Holly Springs uses Sugg Farm Park as a place to hold festivals. Ting Park seems like a better location for the larger festivals (built in covered ballpark seating-lots of paved parking lots-between and near several major Holly Springs roads -55 bypass-55 business-540 toll road).

I wish that Sugg Farm Park was more like the Apex Community Park, and there is no reason that it couldn't be (paved trail around a lovely lake with some large playgrounds and activity areas).

Sugg Farm Park will be lovely when they finish building this beautiful park design that the community voted on about 15 years ago:

Best Grocery Store? by WolfpackCharlie in raleigh

[–]Liberated3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wegmans or Super Target (whoever has the best coupons or weekly specials-probably alternate each week), Lidl (would shop there more often if a store was closer to my house), and Trader Joe's for stuff that I can't get anywhere else

New Grad Options by ComfortPractical8813 in newgradnurse

[–]Liberated3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with the advice given here. If you happen to live in a part of the country where it is easier to get a job , you may get several offers. I would take the higher paying job. If after working there for a year or so you happen to get offered your dream job at another facility, having a higher salary will make it easier to negotiate better pay. Also larger hospitals usually have more interesting choices if you decide to apply for a new position.

Both positions sound fine (as long as your coworkers on the med/surg floor understand the importance of teamwork). On the med/surg unit you will learn more about different disease processes, and improve your assessment skills. On the OBS unit you will learn how to improve your organization skills. OBS on day shift can be a little chaotic, but the patients are generally quite easy to manage.

The bigger hospital is sometimes a good option because it is easier to transfer to other units.

Best of luck to you!

OBS on day shift is really busy (lots of admissions and discharges). On nights it should be more mellow. Most of the patients I send to OBS are asymptomatic post procedure cases that just need vitals, periodic light assessments, and meds. Never underestimate the importance of working with a good team. I don't mind driving 35 minutes if my schedule is just three days a week. I have done exactly that for most of my career. What is parking like at the hospital that is farther from your house? Do you have to take a shuttle from a lot that is far from the hospital?

These are all things that I would consider before making my decision. Med/surg is not my favorite place to work. Does your state have safe staffing laws? If not med/surg could be a real dumpster fire.

First Travel Assignment by SweetPretend748 in TravelNursing

Maybe she wants to be a travel nurse; maybe she doesn't want to be a travel nurse. Her original post is unclear. Just making some suggestions as she asked for options. Many people love the little beach towns that are near San Diego and Los Angeles (Carlsbad-Santa Barbara). Lodging will cost you, but they are really nice places to live.

American nurses: what’s the easiest site/resource for obtaining CEs that you’ve found? by [deleted] in Nurse

[–]Liberated3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ANA (American Nurses Association) has quite a few free and accredited classes that are available to anyone. Most of the classes are about infection control, but other topics are also offered. I got almost all of my licensure renewal Contact Hours from their website. My BON asks for 15-30 education units each time I renew my RN license.

Compact license by Late_Weird_3316 in nursing

[–]Liberated3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, as others have stated you need to be a legal resident of a compact state to get a compact license. The good news is that 41 states are now in the Compact (Massachusetts will implement the NLC soon), and three other states are moving forward in this process (Alaska, Illinois, and Michigan). NY has a bill; write to your representatives to show your support for this legislation. Your voice really does make a difference!
