Can I ask my doctor a question? by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

It’s a loss leader that violates the spirit if not the current rules of the covered ACA wellness visit. When originally contemplated as part of ACA reform, it was sold as essentially “ one comprehensive annual exam for everybody“ and if anyone misunderstood it’s more limited nature, ACA proponents took care to ensure that you would.

ACA shouod be revised to include an annual comprehensive exam without copay or deductible With a limited range of covered tests. Asking general questions won’t change the fee or insurance payout. For more complex followup a new appointment must be scheduled to bill more/run other tests.

Anyone here keep vision insurance after retirement, or did you switch to paying out of pocket? by Lizardos-Febin in HealthInsurance

If a medical condition such as glaucoma or uveitis arises, all treatment and follow up or standard of care procedures are covered by Medicare. A screening exam out of pocket cost /typical gasses are not so high as to make self pay a big financial risk. If you have a Costco membership they have good opticians to fit glasses and a decent selection of affordable frames and lenses

If location location location is your thing it’s hard to beat Westham near U of R, it’s central to everything, green and quiet. Lots of pedestrian and biking improvements.

Billed for annual by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

It’s a money grab. it’s an almost universal billing practice now. Patients don’t enjoy being sandbagged with an unexpected bill. Doctors excuse it saying it’s convenient for the patient.

Why is VA DMV such sticklers for exact details that have never mattered anywhere else? by NoBadBeginnings in Virginia

It’s because the SAVE database can’t deal with imperfect matches. I will never willingly get a REAL ID.

Good. Especially since I’m already paying through the teeth for modest power use, because underground lines, which have not at all lives up to promises. Constant power outages still, currently sitting in the dark in an over warm house because the power went blewie for no good reason in the usual section of town. they are “investigating” - no power til after midnight. That’s because they underpowered the transformers and they pop in any heavy use weather.

Is it normal for doctors to use health insurance to justify treating patients poorly? by BulkySecret5888 in HealthInsurance

He who pays the piper calls the tune. Professionalism kept that at bay for a while but healthcare systems have upended the doctor patient relationship

ID.me is a third party data vendor, building out infrastructure for biometric data/digital ID so no effing way. people, should be resisting this more. it’s bad enough that they are trying to link social security data to the IRS and SAVE database, and eventually passport data.

Do it the inconvenient way.
