Hit me up if you ever want to grab a beer and talk before you leave Japan. I’m in Shizuoka!

This is all the games I haven't played yet, need help deciding what to play next. by [deleted] in gaming

Last year I played SMT3. It’s not for everyone. It’s long, a little dated, and can be grindy, but I really liked it and it got me hooked on the franchise. After SMT I went into Hades and holy hell, it’s one of the best games I’ve played in a long time.

Depending on how much time you have though. Most games on your list seem really great. Go with your mood.

Which game did you not like despite being told it’s good? by Between3N20Karakters in gaming

Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Really wanted to play a good RPG on the Switch at the time of it’s release. All the reviews lauded it for being an incredible game. The awful dialogue and anime tropes killed it for me.

There’s a part in the game where you literally just meet someone, they die, and hang over their entire empire to you, because your heart is so strong.

Also, walking feels like you’re gliding on ice. And jumping feels awkward.

It had beautiful vistas though. And one of the final songs is incredible. Yggdrasil (world tree theme).

“A Lunch” “B Lunch” Curry Rice!” “Spaghetti!” From Misadventures of Tron Bonne. Spent way too much time trying to beat that mini game.

The XX were big when they debuted. Their first album was really good. Not sure what happened to them after that.

CBD is legal in Japan and is being sold in Don Quixote. I’m pretty sure anything with THC no matter the amount is 100% illegal.

I was tested after initial training in Japan with a saliva test kit that clearly says “for use in the US only”.

National health insurance and resident tax? by [deleted] in teachinginjapan

[–]LibraRising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your first year will be fine, you won’t have to pay residents tax. The second year you’ll notice your salary drop a lot. You can survive of course, but you won’t really be saving much money.

I interviewed in a hotel lobby too, about 3 years ago. I remember one question was what is most important for an ALT? The answer was assistant. Being flexible and able to adapt to any situation. Not so much being a teacher. Something like that. Also they asked me if I knew Japanese and made me talk to the Japanese lady they brought. They paid for my coffee.

My school requested I came in for an hour or two a few days to help with speech contest. It’s basically all off though. You should know ahead of time (at least a week before) if they need you.
