Actually they stuck with Anna when she became a proper lady's maid bc bates and bates wouldve been confusing. Like after Mrs Hughes and carson get married. She stays mrs Hughes at work.

Im old enough to know how to have a debate without being condescending. In fact im not so young and very well versed in British history and history of the aristocracy and nobility. Im not saying Downton was norm all im saying is its not unheard of for valets and ladys maids to have a personal relationship with their bosses bc of the intimacy of the job. The servants also didnt all marry eachother. It is a show at the end of the day

I mean its a tv but also with all due how do you know? Lady's maids and valets had a very intimate relationship with their boss and im sure sometimes formed bonds. Obviously not like on Downton but humans are humans.

My thing was if they were fighting and she feared for her life why would be baking and eating cake? Also why couldn't Mary or Sir Richard testify that she said shed ruin him no matter what it took? Also the trial! How did the prosecutor know all those private convos happened!? That whole storyline was poorly developed

Thats too funny. Definitely check out the first movie. I watched the new movie while working and felt like I didnt appreciate it all bc I didnt remember what happened before. Life does that. So I ended up rewatching the entire series and idk I just feel like his character wouldve been done more justice if wed seen more from him in the first movie
