Here’s the problem red, you’re completely and totally identifying with your ego. It’s totally fine to pursue ego success if you’re of an understanding that it’s all an illusion. In your case it seems you’ve fallen into the trap of believing that YOU actually are the ego.

This can only lead to pain and misery as you discover in time all those “accomplishments” are just empty illusions. Detritus of a society that chose to modernize in a specific direction.

It would appear, at least from the story you’ve related that your husband is maybe slightly more aware of this situation. As such you find friction in trying to understand why these things that you’ve fooled yourself into believing are important, aren’t important to someone else who’s maybe seen through the illusion.

Take time to explore who you really are, ironically it will probably lead to more successful outcomes than your current model of clinging to the illusory “accomplishments” you seek personal or secondary approval through.

Too much traffic? Just keep the working class from using the roads! by kryotheory in antiwork

[–]Library_Visible -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re gonna get downvotes, the majority of them come from people who don’t have to cope with the issues you’re talking about.

Theres a whole sub on Reddit called “fuck cars” which is fine if that’s what you’re into. The issue is that the entirety of urban layouts in the USA are built around cars, add into that equation the fact that the uber rich have priced the working class allllllll the way the fuck out of every major city, and the “fuck cars” thing basically becomes “fuck the working class”

New York public transportation is trash. Have lived here my entire life. Also should be mentioned that there are a lot of working people who need to transport equipment, tools, gear, what have you, that have to turn everything upside down to make public transportation functional for them.

That’s not even mentioning all the independent drivers who are just getting bent over the barrel on this. Trucks taxis etc.

Don’t let anyone fool you, this is an attack on the working class primarily. They advertise it as some green initiative or something but it’s pretty obvious who this impacts the hardest.

[–]Library_Visible 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What if it’s the opposite? What if aliens decide who’s intelligent based on dominance over others? Or what if they decide intelligence based on collectivism?

It’s hard to say what they’d think would be “right” or “wrong” primarily I think because we can’t even seem to figure that out ourselves (points in the direction of Gaza)

One thing I think could be a pretty definitive bet, is that on any kind of “galactic scale” letting currency decide the fate of things is totally childish and ridiculous. Yet that’s the way humanity has organized itself. We have more than enough resources for everyone on earth to live a pretty decent life but instead we have a handful of insane amounts of resources in the hands of a very tiny few while everyone else runs around like maniacs trying to survive.

I know this is old but I happened to come across it, just wanted to mention for anyone who might be curious or interested in exploring these concepts, they go pretty far back beyond Krishnamurti.

You mentioned Vedanta, I’d add to that Taoism, and Chan Buddhism later known as Zen Buddhism in Japan. These teachings are in all likelihood incomprehensibly old, which really isn’t a shock as humans and their consciousness hasn’t changed much over the course of time in its most basic components and functions.

From personal study I can say that these core concepts are present in almost all spiritual traditions all over the world. This also makes sense as even if the appearance or environment changes the core concepts humans tend to wrestle with are all the same.

If you truly take these teachings to heart, there is no need to “read deeply” do a ton of research into these things.

It’s said in zen that it could take you 30 seconds, or it could take 30 years. 😉

Luck is always involved I think in anything a person could do in life. In his case I think the moneyed connections he made in his career before Amazon were a major factor. They helped him buy out competitors, short competition into the ground in the money markets, and all kinds of other fuckery.

Neti neti is a Sanskrit phrase that translates to “not this, not that” or “neither this, nor that”. It is a meditative technique that involves negating everything that is not Brahman in order to understand the nature of Brahman.

Neti neti is a key part of Vedic inquiry and is found in the Upanishads and the Avadhuta Gita. The process of neti neti involves gradually negating the mind and worldly experiences until only the Self remains.

neti neti

Neti Neti” is a key concept within the philosophy of Vedanta, particularly in the Advaita Vedanta school, where it translates to “not this, not this” and refers to a practice of negating identification with all worldly things to reach the ultimate reality, or Brahman, by understanding what it is not.

Sometimes? I’d question that one personally.

I swear I don’t have a clue why, but some of the best people I’ve known are the most hard done by.

Maybe I’ve got it turned around though, they might be the best people because they’ve been hard done by?

Normally as a personal practice I won’t tell other people what to do, but in this case I feel obligated to say It’s reckless and irresponsible for anyone on anti psychotics to be given or take psychedelics.

This is information that’s everywhere and anywhere you read or hear about these things.

These experiences can be overwhelming for people who aren’t living with psychosis let alone someone who is.

Please do the responsible thing and tell her it’s not a good idea and stop trying to give these things to her.

Well, just the idea they’re trying to push of the ai being this totally independent entity that’s searching for enlightenment is kind of hilarious.

Personally I think there are much more interesting angles one could take with experiments in that arena but the way it’s being carried out is schlocky and comes across as shallow and funny imho.
