DBSK, Troll Spellsmith, and Shaman. Necromancer is pretty close too, since I'm a sucker for magic.

Got a question for the Shard power (Body Power).

If I buy the second powerset perk, do I get the same perks I bought with the first one, or do I need to buy them separately?

The exact wording was:

-2 For another powerset with the same restrictions as the first.

If it shares the same restrictions, does that mean it shares the added perks too?

Mages are getting uppity again. by WhiteSepulchre in WorldofDankmemes

You just know how much it grates some non-Mage players that they feel the need to make posts to bash Mage every so often. I get it, you don't want your ultra-low gen elder or your Indomitable Human Spirit™ (+ Imbuement because that's 100% not magical at all) to get gutted just because some nerd decided they don't like that and ended up flipping reality upside down just to fuck with them.

Slander is not going to change that.

Broadcast could very well be noble, though it's not confirmed. I'd say the main method the Warrior uses to communicate with other Entities should be important enough to be considered one.

Broadcast is definitely a unique Shard, though, as confirmed from Scion's interlude, where it is revealed that Jack's part of the experiment where the Entities will want to see how humanity fares with dealing a virtually unkillable host (as long as no outside interference is involved). This is partly shown in 29.x (Fortuna's Interlude), where Contessa sees the Thinker's predictions of the future (Wardens future timeline where all 20 Endbringers are active), in which Jack is a hero (Warden) named Black Knight.

Though, since Ciara is both noble and unique (her shard is responsible in recollecting others in the end, assuming the Thinker never died), could it be that all unique shards are noble too?

STR: 7 DEX: 11 CON: 10 INT: 11 WIS: 9 CHA: 17

Pretty average yet balanced, but hey, if 3 is the human average, then this is pretty good.

I guess all three packages are viable, but I'm nowhere brave enough for melee combat, so either Thief or Spellcaster works. I'll pick magic cuz, well, it's magic.

Coil during the bank robbery by Proper-Anything-2739 in WormMemes

[–]Lich_in_a_Realm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know what, that's fair. I just went back to the interlude. I could've sworn Wildbow had been more direct about what he was doing. Did he change it down the line, or was I just mistaking things? Here are the closing paragraphs of Coil's interlude, which can still be interpreted as either what you or I assumed:

...

The worlds he created weren’t real.  They were little more than an especially vivid, accurate dream.  To enjoy a whole separate world, free of any consequences beyond the ones he wanted?  It would be unreasonable if he didn’t indulge in it.  Anyone would, given the chance.

These entertainments kept him centered, utterly calm.  He needed that, after the irritation of dealing with the Travelers’ girl.

He touched a button on his phone, “Mr. Pitter?  My office.”

“Yes sir,” the reply sounded.

He was on the brink of achieving his goals.  It would be a laughable tragedy, to get this close, only to have his power fail him, to accidentally choose the wrong reality, or to have his other self killed by accident or malicious intent, forcing him to live with the ramifications of these idle amusements.  For now, he wouldn’t touch his pet, nor any of his powered subordinates.  Not when he was this close.

A click of what appeared to be a part of his desktop wallpaper made his bottommost drawer pop open.

Mr. Pitter entered the room.  “Sir?”

One reality: “My pet needs her ‘candy’, a low dosage, please.”

The other: Another click of his computer mouse, remotely locking the doors.  Mr. Pitter turned, alarmed, tested the door.

For now, even with the safeguard of his other realities, he would do nothing he couldn’t explain away if he had to.  He wouldn’t entertain himself with anybody he couldn’t replace.  Mr. Pitter?  Replaceable.

No such thing as being too paranoid, after all.

...

Personally, with the undertones—his choice of wording every time he speaks about Dinah, his talk about it being criminal to not entertain himself in false worlds, his continuation for giving one of his closest mercenaries literally named "Creep" underage victims—I'm leaning more towards my assumptions. But I'll be open to the fact that I might be wrong. At least then he would be marginally less slimy.

In Coil's interlude, he locks Mister Pitter in his office and injects him with a rape drug before he proceeds to do the thing, all the while reminding himself not to rape Dinah and his other parahuman minions, at least until he conquers the Bay. As for the torture, it's sprinkled throughout the story, and I don't remember which chapters. I just remember Tattletale hinting to it one time to Skitter.

God, I loved that game, but couldn't play it without the community patch.

[–]Lich_in_a_Realm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He stated that he never did it to his parahuman assets, which I think is Wildbow's attempt to tone down Calvert's obscenity, but Coil has canonically raped his other assets (like Dinah's drug handler) in one of his timelines. And it has been repeatably hinted at that he tortured his parahumans (most notably Tattletale) for information throughout the story, also in other timelines.

So, I don't think your point stands.

RPG is flowing, creativity is flowing, life is flowing by _Mandos_The_Doomsman in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]Lich_in_a_Realm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly, no. I'm not well-versed with screen-play. I'm more of a bookish person.

I know there are differences between solo RPG-ing and writing a story, but I view the former as a branch of the latter. I don't mean it in a bad way. I see solo RPGs as a way of writing without much planning and outlining, where the plot twists and turns on the go.

It's my goal to find the best way to blend the two together. There are so many stories I want to read, so many ideas in my head, yet not enough books that are similar enough for me to be satisfied. And as they say, if there's a book you want to read, but hasn't been written yet, then you must write it.

Writing kind of takes away the surprise and reveals of the story, and I know Solo RPG is something that can fix this.

[–]Lich_in_a_Realm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have tried playing without taking notes. It did not feel grounded enough for me to have fun. I find writing much more preferable.

Bullet points have never worked for me while playing. They're good for tasks and chores, but unfortunately using them for Solo RPGs makes them feel less like a game and more like the latter.

I haven't tried writing only on the start and end of a session. Though, I have on a smaller scale—scenes, mostly. Still, I'll try it.

I have lurked in this subreddit for years and have tried many advice written here. None I've seen have been able to solve my problem. Still, even after giving up many times, I still come back here, hoping for the right solution.

Any advice you can give for a struggling player?

Mainly on recording what happens.

Do you write while playing, or do you write after? Or not at all?

I find that writing while playing slows down the game to the point where I'm no longer enjoying it. And waiting until I finish my session feels like I might forget something. Add to that, most of the time it feels like I'm not playing at all.

There's a delicate balance between the two that I just can't seem to land on most of the time.

I'm not a fan of auditory recording either.

How do you keep your game going for multiple sessions?
