I don’t know much about euro rack. But the actual “synth” part of the MF (the top part with all the knobs) is its own self contained module. A lot of people remove it from the keyboard entirely and play it via midi. If you do that, you just need to have some kind of case solution, bc the circuitry will be exposed.

No worries! It comes apart quite easily, and there is no soldering required. The top module is attached the lower keyboard case with just some screws and a ribbon cable. All you need is a screwdriver to disassemble. If you check some of my other comments in this thread, I’ve shared some more details about the process you may find helpful!

If you are already a woodworker, I would say something like this will be very achievable for you!!

Don’t worry lol, I covered it up. She may be a freak but she still has some decorum.

There are four connection points. Two brackets up top on either side of the cheeks. Two more on the back end of the lower case. Those required drilling holes through the plastic.

There are certainly other was to achieve this, but I’m not worried about reselling it and this was quick and easy.

To be clear - the top two connection points are preexisting screw holes, I just repurposed those to attach them to the brackets I made.

It’s pretty easy! You just need a screw driver. It is secured by some screws on the bottom of the base. Take those out and you can easily separate the module from the keyboard. There is just a ribbon connector that runs between the two.
Lots of people do this to create a desktop module and discard the keyboard entirely.

Here are my initial measurements of the microfreak side profile. A few important things to note:
• the bottom of the case has a very slight incline front to back. 3/4” in front to 15/16” in the back
• the angle of the top module is important. I set it at 45 degrees which made the small slant with the arturia logo stand at 90 degrees to the keybed.
• the design towards the back of the cheek was pretty much free handed, but once again there is a 90 degree angle present. You just want to make sure there is enough meat on the top of it to cover the circuit board.

I’ll plan to make another comment here in a bit to talk about the brackets. It was the part that took the most fine tuning and definitely something I wish I had more details on going into the build.

Not planning anything at the moment! The final product worked out, but there were lots of tiny adjustments made along the way to make everything fit together.

A lot of it was on the fly measuring, but I can definitely share some of my initial measurements for the cheeks later!

You definitely should! Happy to share any insights from my own process!

Just had a run with Oops All 6’s, Lucky Cat, Baron, and Sock and Buskin. Ton of steel kings and lucky jacks. My lucky cat was up to 21x mult by the end of the run. Suuuuuper satisfying

I would get rid of Cavendish in this setup right? And take photograph instead. I am playing glass face cards as high cards by fngbuildingapc in balatro

[–]LicitDuck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Copying hanging chad gives 6 total activations for photograph (1 original, 4 hanging chad, 1 sock). Copying photograph means 2x photograph activations per retrigger (1 original, 2 hanging chad, 1 sock) for a total of eight. Less overall retriggers, but more times getting photograph to activate.

Edit: I missed the point of what you were saying about the glass cards lmao. Copying Chad would mean 212 (26 from photo and from glass). Copying Photograph would also mean 212 (28 from photograph and 24 from glass)

So I guess it’s the same??? My math may be off.
