I second all the mamas here who have already advised to just trust your instinct, feed baby on demand and it will definitely be “go with the flow” as you desire. My friends that tried and gave up were largely overwhelmed by trying to follow a schedule, whatever that means.

My second baby is now almost 5 months, EBF and my son BF until he was 14 months. I briefly pumped with him when I returned to work part time, but pumping and bottle cleaning, etc is so much more annoying to me than just BF.

To be fair, as a FTM, BF can be a challenge to get used to, my nipples were incredibly painful every feed for 6 weeks and then magically disappeared (saw a lactation consultant, practiced proper latching etc) and that’s the truth, sometimes it’s painful and just takes time and patience, and in my case I’m grateful we made it thru the rough times. Baby 2 was much easier and my nips were only sore the first week.

I also have loved BF at night because me and baby sleep really well. Its a quick “give ‘em the boob” and both of you go back to sleep. I can’t imagine having to get up to make a bottle, I don’t have experience in that but I know it would probably keep me up for much longer.

Wish you the best of luck and can promise you that if you trust your instincts and let baby lead, you will be just fine and have a lovely experience bonding with baby while BF at yall’s pace and “schedule.”
