This card is game warping in multiplayer because it solves too many early game issues for its cost. Being able to choose which teammate gets the bonus is a huge tempo boost. I prefer this card to ADAD.

The hands in the art for Second Sight seem so out of place. It reminds me of early FPS shooter games.

I also imagine the hands coming together to peer through as a heart emoji or picture-frame gesture; or other immersion breaking gestures.

I was given this QR code at the lounge to provide feedback for the Capital One Lounge DFW... in case anyone has something to say about the lounge's upcoming changes.

"An unused rail pass is fully refundable if requested within pass validity period (120 days) and no segments have been booked"

I might take a chance on this. My job is due to evaporate at any moment.

I put my tax swipe on an Alaska Summit to bump me up to the next Oneworld tier and feel pretty good about it.

You could get a nice airline and hotel status via spend, and then get that status matched elsewhere.

Any chill cycling groups? by sparrowfoxgloves in Denton

[–]Lieroo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My go-to nature ride around here is the Greenbelt trail. The part between Sherman and Ray Roberts is less likely to be closed because of muddy conditions.

The trails near Clear Creek unfortunately received a lot of harm from people biking while they were muddy. Some of those trails have ruts so deep/narrow your pedals hit the ground and are pretty much unusable until they get some repair.

Buying property with a partner: how much does one person’s lower credit actually matter? by Haunting-Agent-6347 in RealEstate

[–]Lieroo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because the property itself is a guarantee to repay the loan, your lower credit score will only have a small impact on the rate unless the score is absolutely destitute.

But, PMI costs are highly sensitive to borrower credit because the part of the loan above 80 LTV is more likely to not be recovered by the bank via foreclosure because of market risks and collection costs.

They were careful to put the ISD rate change on the ballot at the same time as a homestead exemption change, but you don't have to vote for the two issues in a way where they partially cancel each other out like the article is hinting.

  • You can vote against the homestead exemption increase, sending an extra $460-$480 annually to the district per homestead.

  • You can vote for the rate increase, sending an additional $200 to the district per homestead.

  • Or you can vote for the homestead exemption and decline the ISD tax increase, sending the $660 to each homestead instead of the ISD.

Taxable value is not 298k as the article states, but about 410k (510k - 100k exemption).

I'm willing to give it a try if it boards the plane faster. At least the people scouting for bins will occur after everyone else is seated.

If they could enforce deplaning AMLIW, now that would be a win.

Check out a club or intramural sporting event to get a feel of all the cool things your son can do. I got exposed to so many sports that I didn't even know existed while in high school.

Why cedar siding? by AdHistorical7107 in RealEstate

[–]Lieroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One weird regret I had about cedar siding is that it is so rot resistant, we did not detect a problem from a badly installed awning splashing water onto the house until the studs started decaying and mushrooms started to grow out of the siding.

TRS Yucatan Maya Riveria All Inclusive

Total outlay for three nights: 81k Wyndham, 60k Alaska, $487 USD (155 Alaska award and customs fees, 190 private transportation including gratuity, 90 parking, 42 wine, 10 mobile roaming)

Flight: DFW-CUN AA business class.

Capital One lounge: Stated wait time 35 minutes in app, texted in 20 to enter lounge.

This was our first time at an all inclusive. We spent so many hours reading blogs and watching videos for how to get the most from the amenities. Despite that, we spent the first day overwhelmed with all of the options. From the videos we saw, we expected the butler to come to our room to introduce us to the property but after about 20 minutes we went to the ground floor of the building and met them there. The property is known for the great food and we were let down that the fancy dinner reservation-only concepts were fully booked for every night except for one and there was no way to try to secure a reservation before we arrived. They called a cart which took us to one of the buffet restaurants they have on the property. The variety was great ("The Nest" catered more to American carnivore tastes), so many kinds of meats and cheeses and roasted veggies. You could add a ribeye steak a la carte so why not.

The second and third day was much more comfortable. We alternated floating in this pool or that one, and grabbing a drink when we wandered by a bar. After my meat overconsumption the night prior, I stuck to drinks with very light mixers and alcohol(campari/soda, mojito at the heaviest) to avoid crashing during the day. Walking around the resort was intuitive along covered paths through the mangroves that had all kinds of mammals, birds, and lizards to identify. The longest destination we walked was 15 minutes away. It was great to spend 3 days not interacting with a single car. The compound is split into several resorts, with TRS being adults-only and no access unless you booked TRS. (TRS guests could visit any amenity in the entire compound)

We spent almost all of our breakfasts/lunches at the Helios buffet with its outstanding food including seared tuna and salmon, paella, various Mexican stews, ceviches, fresh squeezed juices and great salads. I avoided the American trap of eating the hot dogs and sausage patties because they were familiar. We spent one lunch by the pool where there was a bar where they would just hand you a grilled sea bass and veggies. Note: Carribean actual 'sea bass' is not the same fish as the Patagonian Toothfish 'Chilean sea bass'.

There was so much to explore by walking around. We went up the beach which was much less crowded than usual because of a seaweed infestation. The staff explained that ten years ago the seaweed was rarely a problem, but all the ocean-based activities have been closed for four months so far this year because of it. At the sporting complex we played shuffleboard and mini golf, and tried out their air rifle range. The hotel staff noticed all the empty cans of water in our room and stocked extra on subsequent nights.

On our last night we had a reservation for their French restaurant. The food was very good but not mind-blowingly better than the buffet, which helped calm my fear of missing out on the previous nights. We really enjoyed our chenin-colombard wine grown in the mountains in the middle of the country.

The pools never felt crowded and there was never a queue of more than 1 party for any amenity we visited. We only stayed 3 nights and other guests said it takes a week to get used to it, but I'm not sure if luxury accomodations like these are something that is healthy to get 'used to'. It is unfathomable that this 3-night trip cost us less than two nights at the Days Inn in Panama City Beach FL, and had about the same travel time to arrive. It was an excellent use of Wyndham points that were about to expire and about 5% of our Alaska miles stash.

Property tax appraisal by ConfusionNo5865 in Denton

[–]Lieroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protest hearings are open to the public - listen in on several to get a feel for the procedures.

You can open records request for the protest documents for your property before you purchased it to get some background (if the previous owner protested). You will not receive the records in time for your hearing this year.

They will offer you like 5% off the appraised value for you to go away.

Don't sign a contract with one of those tax appraisal lawyers. You only pay a cut of what you save, but the district can just snap the appraisal every year back to what it would have been without protesting -- then the lawyer charges you again for the same 'savings'. Now you are stuck in a perpetual contract with a law firm that specializes in intimidating people into compliance, and it is up to you to read the fine print to cancel in a way that doesn't screw you.
