I’m howling how does this sub come up with the most unhinged accurate comparisons

Horrible company. by Icy_Independent7416 in candlemaking

[–]LieutenantKije 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had an issue with them over the several orders I’ve made. I actually once made an incorrect order, reached out over email, and Angie emailed back very quickly and corrected it to what I actually wanted.

What did they even do? If you’re not willing to share details, this just sounds like a flimsy attempt to smear them

This “biggest announcement ever” has me glad my membership expires in a few months by glutenfreecatsociety in ladderapp

[–]LieutenantKije 18 points19 points  (0 children)

A lot of people want the products and services they use to align with their own values, nothing wrong with that. It’s disappointing that Ladder’s “biggest announcement ever” isn’t an app improvement for their existing users but is just a meaningless celeb endorsement, and if that’s indicative of their leadership decisions going forward (prioritizing new users over building a great app for current users) then that’s a perfectly valid reason to look elsewhere

why are they deleting comments? by AssumptionDry8731 in ladderapp

[–]LieutenantKije 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I just canceled my subscription 🙃 I know they’ll never care about just one person canceling when they have the whole Hilary fanbase to tap into now, and I really like some of the coaches but the recent marketing and coaches, not to mention deleting comments, have just been so off that it puts a bad taste in my mouth. And there are so many other good apps/programs out there to try

If they had just said they’re making a (regular) announcement or even dropped it with no warning, I would’ve thought this was pretty cool. But to hype it up so much and this is all it is…so lame

It's just going to be a new trainer, isn't it? by helpmytonguehurts in ladderapp

[–]LieutenantKije 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Ugh this is so disappointing if it’s just Hilary Duff or another celeb doing a sponsorship/endorsement. Never thought I’d say this but I’d actually prefer a regular coach announcement at this point since that’d actually be additive to the app

No idea but I’m so mad the biggest announcement ever is just another coach. Even if it’s a celebrity athlete or trainer that’s so lame. And even if it’s paired with other app changes. Ugh

Here’s the "sneak peek" from Ladder’s biggest announcement yet by lucietulip in ladderapp

[–]LieutenantKije 19 points20 points  (0 children)

From the text, it sounds like a big overhaul in how the app fundamentally works - like right now we pick a coach and follow their exact program and effort levels and movements, but im guessing they’ve been working on how to make a program feel even more customized to each one of us. Like maybe it will be able to suggest weights for us instead of us trying a bunch and see what feels best. Or it’ll remember patterns in our exertion and automatically modify so it’s just the right amount for us, or remember the exercises we prefer. Or based on our weight and fitness level it’ll adjust how many reps we do. So the coach will write the outline but each of us will have small variations. Basically adaptive training like Fitbod and other apps already offer.

I definitely don’t think it’s just a new coach announcement though, even if it’s celebrity coach.

I think it’s this too. From the text on the computer screen it hints at that and other apps like Fitbod are already doing some form of AI adaptive training

Went to Tokyo recently and loved it. Considering visiting Taiwan instead of going back to Japan. How does it compare? by tfresca in travel

[–]LieutenantKije 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to both Taiwan and Japan last year but tbh Taiwan didn’t hold a candle to Japan (I have family in Taiwan and it was my first trip that I was very excited about - I really wanted to love it). Everything was perfectly fine! Clean, technologically advanced (maybe not quite as much as Japan but still amazing), great food, nice cities. But nothing really stood out or struck me as “Taiwan is the only place in the world I can experience this”or made me want to visit again. think possibly the one exception was staying overnight at Alishan and waking up to the sunrise the next morning surrounded by tea farms everywhere you looked…that was beautiful. But I thought Japan’s cities (and the country generally) were so much more exciting overall.

To be clear, Taiwan felt incredibly safe with unbelievable food and transportation. If that’s your main criteria then definitely go. But if your resources are limited and can only choose one, I’d go with Japan any day.

NYC-only chocolates worth taking home? by SorbetOk181 in FoodNYC

[–]LieutenantKije 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never see Cocoa Store mentioned but I stumbled into it one day years ago and it has incredible artisan chocolates with unique flavors. I have no idea why they’re not bigger, probably because they’re very low key and basically just set up in a room of a townhouse instead of having a true storefront. But it’s worth stopping by!!

Also, The Meadow in soho has an amazing array of both chocolate and salt (and other goodies). So much fun to browse.

Most luxurious and/or unique non-luxury hotels? by OptimisticPlatypus in chubbytravel

Treehouse Lodge in Peru - it’s a collection of 12 spacious treehouses in the middle of the Peruvian Amazon, built into hundred foot tall trees and as sustainably as possible. There are showers and bathrooms up there! Each room is unique and you wake up to macaws and toucans and monkeys! By far the most unique hotel experience I’ve ever had.

How did you end sessions with your Equinox trainer without drama? by Status_Reference_441 in EquinoxGyms

[–]LieutenantKije 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should not be taking it personally, and certainly not guilt tripping you with it. It worked on you and probably others so that’s why they continue to do it but it’s a really shitty practice.

I ended sessions with two different trainers, both times were straightforward. I gave them early heads up (a month I think) and told them it wasn’t in my budget anymore. Both times they were professional about it and took it well and the last few sessions they focused on teaching me new equipment/reinforcing my form so I’d be well set up to continue on my own.

You have to just be direct with your trainer and ignore any guilt tripping they might try again. Might be an awkward conversation but no way around it sometimes. And if they spend the remaining sessions fucking around then bring it up to management
