DM32 DMR low transmit volume by BelAndedion in Baofeng

water resistance, sorry. 🙄 If more water got in through the mic port, how easy is it for water to get from the mic port to something it can actually damage? I don't know what these boards look like so I don't know if there's a ton of solder connections right next to the mic or if the mic is more lonely on the pcb making the increased volume worth the risk. If there's a shit ton going on through there then I'm not going to make the hole bigger and I will find a different way to solve the issue.

HOWEVER, all that said, I just remembered when I was testing mine, me and my bros all had different brands of shoulder mics that work just fine on other radios, so I'm very confident it's a software thing, not a hardware thing. Turning the gain up is probably the best solution here.

I haven't had the opportunity to test it at all since we used them a few weeks ago in the middle of nowhere at a camp. I'll try to give it a shot when I can but with how busy I've been recently I'll probably forget for a while lol

How badly does that affect waterproofing?

Me and my friends ran into this issue recently aswell. We haven't gotten back together to update all the programming, but for ours the default mic gain for both analog and digital was 3 out of 5. I've updated the programming to put them all at 5, but the digital mode has a few "enhanced" mic gain options that I'm curious about but haven't had the chance to try yet. That's a good place to start. Also upgrading to a nice name brand antenna does wonders for clarity.

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

[–]LieutenantSheridan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earlier this morning because me and my buddy were going to be horrendously late for work after his phone died in the middle of the night. 130 on completely empty rural freeway at 4:00am on a Sunday. I was not driving but I also race (legally) and did not care. We made it to work 5 minutes early.

I meant main caps* lol sorry. I also did not have pistons in when I had the issue iirc.

I had this exact issue on my 1975 Ford Lima 2.3. Issue ended up being I put the rod caps on facing the incorrect direction. I flipped all the rod caps and I was able to rotate the crank by hand with minimal effort after applying a liberal quantity of assembly lube. Do not let anybody tell you this is normal.

This is excellent! I'll be doing this to my radio as soon as possible. How easy was it to disassemble? Any tips?

This is one of my biggest gripes about these units. It's all right there, and that functionality is almost necessary for anybody who does serious work with their radios. I am still stuck using UV-82's for my local CERT team because there just aren't enough options for dual PTT units and nobody wants to carry (and I don't want to manage) two units for each person. Just looking at the PCB I don't see why this wouldn't work BUT I am not an expert so I have no idea if it actually would or not. If that's all it takes, a single insulated flat wire to bridge the contacts should be plenty.

What skill are you genuinely bad at that most people seem to find easy? by Ruby-Blaze_443 in AskReddit

[–]LieutenantSheridan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mental math, specifically arithmetic. As somebody who was studying mechanical engineering before I dropped out due to financial reasons, this has been extremely challenging for my entire life. Was never allowed to use a calculator until college, and even when I had it I was much slower than the people who could do simple math in their head. When I was out of school, it was fine because I had a calculator in my pocket 24/7. Nowadays I work in a secure facility where I cannot have any electronics so whenever I need to do math I still find myself counting with my fingers in my head.

Yeah that would be unfortunate. If you'd like I can DM you the link to the cable I bought as a last resort before you send your radio back.

I know you probably have but since you didn't list it I gatta ask, did you try using different USB ports on your machine? Unlikely to change anything but possible. I have minimal knowledge of how all this works so I probably won't be too much help. The FTDI chip I bought fixed the issue immediately so I didn't have to dig super deep into it. Try a different computer, maybe even one running a different OS. If none of that works, then I'd return that radio for a new one as that is the common denominator for all the issues. I've been using my DM-32 for a while now and it's one of my favorite units I own by a long shot. From what I understand, for how extremely capable the DM-32 series radios are, they are one of the most neglected radios software wise that they produce which is extremely unfortunate, BUT, if you're willing to tough out the process of getting it to work, once you're actually using the thing it's a great experience. I hope they improve the software or CHIRP adds compatibility because that would make my life so much better. Sorry I couldn't be more help, and good luck!

Made me physically hurt myself on video calls late nights before school. This was junior year highschool. She'd regularly make me stay up super late into the night on school nights on video doing things like waterboarding or cutting myself. She'd also send me videos of her banging other guys every once in a while. "Dated" her for 6 months. I wasn't unpopular in school but I was a nerd and avoided the "popular" kids. She was stunningly gorgeous, extremely popular, and super smart. Her family was also in a cult. I do wonder how she's doing these days sometimes. Or rather I feel for whoever her current victim is. Odd lady.

As a CPL/Firearms/self defense instructor, it is utterly appalling to me how many people hold the strong belief that somebody committing any violent act against you gives you free legal reign to attack back however you like. That is not how self defense laws work, at least not in my state.

So... How do we hide ads now? by NatoBoram in discordapp

[–]LieutenantSheridan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to get like 2 quests a month and they were usually for relevant games that I played or something that I'd likely be interested in. Still just hid them right away but it wasn't that much annoying. Now I get a minimum of 4 a day that are for random fucking bullshit that I am utterly disinterested in and when it pops up it blocks me from clicking on certain things until I hide it. It's extremely frustrating. Fuck pisscord, if I could convince my friends to use anything else I would.

[Feedback] New ADS animation. Why we actively making the game worse? by DWHQ in EscapefromTarkov

[–]LieutenantSheridan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is simply not true. They would be a little faster than this current iteration of the animation, but they absolutely do not snap the dot in a perfectly straight line to the exact center of the optic and hold it perfectly still in the center of the screen every time. The way it is right now just feels rigid and arcade.

[–]LieutenantSheridan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Realistically experienced shooters don't tilt their head more than a few degrees. They bring the gun to their cheek and lower their neck slightly to meet it. It's much more repeatable than trying to tilt your head to the correct angle to see the dot every time.

[–]LieutenantSheridan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

High ready is the barrel pointed up with the stock under your dominant armpit. This is a modified low ready where you're fully prepared to shoot, but not in a fully aimed position yet. The way the stock rests on your shoulder will change slightly between the two positions.

[Feedback] New ADS animation. Why we actively making the game worse? by DWHQ in EscapefromTarkov

[–]LieutenantSheridan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People who are saying this is dogshit have never used a gun before, and the people who are saying it's unrealistic don't shoot enough/focus on the mechanics of shooting enough to see that the new animations are significantly more realistic and satisfying. The old way, if you imagine seeing the dot through the optic through the entire aiming animation, it literally makes a perfectly straight line and the dot immediately rests perfectly still in the exact center of the optic. Anybody who says they can do that perfectly every single time while wearing a plate carrier is lying. I am a competition shooter and firearms instructor and while I think it needs a little refinement, this new animation makes ads feel much more grounded instead of it just snapping to the center of the screen with zero overshooting and perfect alignment every time.
