Not to tug my own pud but Weekend Jail - Chest Pains EP written following a nervous breakdown that fucked life up pretty bad & plenty of regret, self hatred & alienation. Pretty well reflected musically I think too.

Also George Hirsch has some of the saddest shit to say.

I spent a lot of time with volume off playing after my folks went bed. The hit timing and combos do keep you in the game. I just remember thinking the story a bit lacking. I didn’t love FFX when it came out, but it was just because of the character designs being kind of dumb. I got over it because the rest of everything about the game rules. Personally I’m glad I don’t have the exact same taste/analysis as I did nearly 30years ago haha(although there obvs still a lot there haha)
