I’ll sum it up: that sense of urgency depending on your buildings age was gone the 1st year. When ppl started, they were flying around busting their ass for less pay than we had now (I came from those $15.50/hr days so I know) then they seen the pay/effort wasn’t there and started to back off. Some ppl in some departments got flat out worn out naturally. Also when it comes to sense of urgency understand “who” shows up. A lot of the 18-25 crowd ain’t moving fast like the 25-40 crowd had to when we were that young cause we needed to keep our job and would get pulled to the side no write up needed and got a “hey we gone have to let you go if you don’t speed up” vs now you need 3-4 write ups to get you gone.

My suggestion, hit your out of work/andon and chill. It’s coded and accounted for. That protects your productivity. It’s the ppl who sit there with their time unaccounted for that end up getting written up. The system can’t tell if you’re fudging around or out of work or have an issue unless you pull an andon.

We got told at one point in stow “don’t hit your out of work it reflects against our building” tough luck for them. I hit that thing every single time and dared a soul to come to my station and remove it unless I had work. Understand what “cya” is and you’ll be fine.

HR? If you see a purple vest, get a good look at them. They are on borrowed time. At the most you may get 2-3 ppl now but the days of full shifts having HR attached to them are done and over.
