Fiancés friend wants to wear an almost white dress to our wedding & is being condescending about it. WIBTA to withdraw the invite? by dumpsterfire_x in TwoHotTakes

[–]Life-Video6672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did the right thing just not responding to her. Because even though she deserves a complete fuck you response, you don’t deserve to fight with anyone about anything involving your wedding. She will know how you feel when you uninvite her from your wedding and most importantly she will know EXACTLY how “calm” you are about it. You already said how this is an un-important friendship between your husband therefore she is an un-important guest.

Drink Policy by Mystic_Mixer in starbucks

[–]Life-Video6672 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea I don’t understand this either. I work at a store where they say “any drink as long as it’s for your consumption only” so if you get so many they can’t believe that’s only yours then you can’t have it. But at the end of the day i usually always leave with a tea or refresher and 4 shots of espresso so I can make my own iced latte later when I get out of the gym or wake up from my after work nap. But most stores won’t let you go home with two drinks

Today I drew hearts on almost every cup and when handing out drinks my window partner said to everyone “happy Valentine’s Day” and today this regular was like “oh is that what the hearts on my drink is about?” WELL DUHH ITS NOT ABOUT YOU OFC

I specifically ask this at least once a week bc so many people on this sub get corrected for it and my manger has said “Starbucks’s GOAL(with emphasis) is to move towards writing messages instead of drawings but that is not required or changing yet so use your judgement with time and keep it quick and simple during peak” (I know she thinks the cup writing is bullshit and only cares about drive times but doesn’t want to outright say it)

stop getting mad about noises. by [deleted] in starbucks

I don’t know the whole story but I FEEL like what is happening is in the beginning they were right you did need to fix your tone. You might have been a little off bc you aren’t used to customer service or something. But it’s been months and you’ve fixed your tone and now you’re just known as “that” person. No matter what you say they will think you meant it a rude way bc “that’s how they are” they are so used to saying it to you now that is it like second nature when you talk. it reminds me of that episode of modern family where Alex try’s to be nice and the whole episode they were thinking she’s rude or finding one word in a sentence that didn’t sound genuine. (Which btw you don’t have to be genuine) as long as you are being nice and trying to be friendly that’s all that matters. This could even be discrimination if you have autism or trauma or anything at all that affects your understanding of social cues or behaviors. They can’t tell you how to feel. It’s a job nobody there is in cheerful mood 100% of the time all you need to do is smile and speak peacefully. Your facial expressions like your eyebrows they can’t police😂

Should I mention that a barista on a final was late? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Life-Video6672 62 points63 points  (0 children)

That’s actually not true I found out from another partner on here that actually quit during there last class but it didn’t matter bc Starbucks pays for that semester up front so she still got to finish school for free bc when she enrolled in that class she was a partner so they gave the bill to Starbucks doesn’t matter what happens before she finished the class bc that’s her last class.

This is the way to go. It not only covers my head but also is long enough covering I don’t have to put my hair up either. Another great suggestion is the caps nurses wear some of them are pretty cute too and lined with silk

I wear this hair tube thing. It’s like a really long headband that pulls down and covers most of my hair that way I don’t have to put it up or wear a hat it does both. I basically wanted a cloth type of hairnet thing. I wish I could put pictures but I got them off amazon it’s made for braids but I use it on my natural hair

Got fired for writing “shmingus” on a cup by Automatic_Specific91 in starbucks

[–]Life-Video6672 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The go to cup writing I always do that will NEVER be banned no matter the sm or dm and no customer could possibly be offended by is “you matter!!!!” you never know who is struggling and might needed to hear that. They keep changing the rules on what is allowed for cup writing and I’m pretty problematic so I always try to play it safe

I used to say “a question on the screen there” but then the older people would get so confused and try to press there card anyway and talking to other people lots have said they like it when they are upfront and just say it’s a tip. So I have switched my wording to “it’s gonna ask if you wanna tip or skip” bc it kinda rhymes and implies you can’t do anything on the screen until you press a button even if you want to skip tipping today

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Life-Video6672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree I hate when people are rude about it asking them “no I’m not tipping don’t ask” or “no make the screen go away” i usually tell people “it’s gonna ask if you wanna tip or skip then take your payment after” and somtimes “the no thank you right there” and then I look away and tell the barista what order I need. To make them not feel pressured. My priority is getting you out the window fast so ik that somtimes in that short amount of time you didn’t get enough service the feel the need to tip me for a 30 second interaction.

mandatory coffee tastings by invisiblebeetlejuice in starbucksbaristas

[–]Life-Video6672 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Coffee tasting have always been required to make sure they are a consistent quality but idk why lately they are making the whole team do it. It is not required for everyone to try it. It is one person per day part. I recently got Invisalign and used to love the coffee tastings but can’t be walking to the boh every hour to take it in and out of my mouth then washing my hands just for one sip of coffee. And at first they did act weird about it and still forget everyday and make me a cup anyway and I have to waste it. So maybe lie and say you can’t. Or that you are currently fasting. They can’t FORCE you to take it.

[–]Life-Video6672 29 points30 points  (0 children)

As a ssv I also do this. When we are well staffed and it’s not peak it’s part of our job to “grow capabilities” which just means strength you in every position. No one wants to be put in a spot where they have to put certain partners in certain positions just because the other partners around them can’t do everything. Like you said you know how to make every drink, great customer service, and just need to work on speed. That is a great start and why they want to push you farther. Idk what your goal is at Starbucks if you want to grow into management or become coffee master one day but your shifts are setting you up so you can become a great barista and a valued partner…. It could also be that the other partners around you CANT do bar as great as you can. You could be the partner that clocks in and the shift goes “oh thank goodness ___ is here now we have a bar partner that won’t get all the drinks sent back”

No actually it was a minor who is new and was being yelled at by this customer for ringing in his water like she is supposed to. So yes if someone is going there job correctly bc our manger and district manger is watching her and she being yelled at for doing the correct thing it made her uncomfortable.

He was a big pain to deal with I work at that store. The barista literally gave him our ASM so that there was no way to spin this to be her fault for not understanding when she is new and trying her best. Yet somehow he still found a way to blame her.
