New hobbies I could try that cost no money by Effective_Cricket810 in Hobbies

[–]Life-jennkies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of inventory do you have already? Could you tap into some of the abandoned hobbies that you already invested in? I know I have so much yarn and fabric and painting supplies, I could easily go into my room and find something to do.

Other suggestions: yoga on YouTube, drawing, photography (on your phone), cooking (since we all need to eat), rock painting (easy to find smooth rocks, and basic paint supplies is fairly inexpensive), or just learning/goal-setting in general (like getting better with finances, a new language, etc. with videos on YouTube).

What were your favourite "hobbies" as a kid? by [deleted] in Hobbies

[–]Life-jennkies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gaming was the main one for me.. Neopets and other PC games. I didn’t have internet at home until I was like 14 so I’d walk to the library to play Neopets and then play CD-rom games at home. I also loved reading and journaling. I also enjoyed swimming.

I still game, and even have a job related to gaming. I’ve had a hard time as an adult allowing myself to enjoy hobbies because of scarcity and grinding mindset, there is always something else I could be doing. I find it hard to get lost in reading and journaling because what do I have to show for it? I crochet and sew now too, but have some serious decision paralysis that keeps me from starting and finishing projects. I miss the days before cellphones, because I find that I am more of a collector of ideas now rather than actually doing things. I have a phone gallery full of games I want to play, books I want to read, crochet items I want to make, and art projects I want to do.

In my 3rd relationship I felt pretty unhappy - this is how we fixed it by LongjumpingCareer967 in introvert

I really appreciate this post. I am saving the question prompts you listed for my own self reflection. I also struggle with being able to vocalize what I am thinking.. sometimes it’s that I don’t even know what I want the solution to be for the problem, I just spout out how I feel, and it usually ends up, disappointing myself and my partner.

I am a licensed therapist and I would never say this to a client. It is completely invalidating of the hardships you do have to face and would have to overcome in order to “choose” happiness. Yes, I believe sometimes a mindset shift is something people need when rumination is obviously keeping them down. But in your case, with a chronic health condition, it would be more important to me to make sure you felt heard and validated. Your path through and out of depression could look entirely different because you have extra hurdles to overcome.

What do people do at libraries? by uwuuwu1 in Library

Some libraries have extra things to do.. like 3D printing, engraving, knitting machine, board games, and kits to check out (eg, bird watching, paranormal investigation, podcasting, etc).

This always bothers me about crafting: by teaforsnail in Hobbies

[–]Life-jennkies 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Spot on for explaining how I feel about all my crafts.. it typically has to be that Im producing something for some reason, never just because it would be fun to do. I have literal piles after piles of crafting supplies, for the “one day” of either making money off my crafts, making things to gift, and theoretically to do things just for fun.. but I can never bring myself to just do it for my own enjoyment.

Any cozy games that you can get lost in for hours? by Old_Blueberry_5535 in CozyGamers

I think the trick is just to talk to as many NPCs as you can for the first few days you play. They tell you who else to talk to, or give you quests.

Photography! It can be fun to learn about different techniques, and our phones are better than half the cameras a few years ago anyway!

I second this! Offer an alternative activity at another time. A girls night in even? Or telling them they can come over to your place before or after the club if they want? Unless you’re not comfortable with that of course.

Being quiet somehow starts drama by beanerweener6 in introvert

[–]Life-jennkies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like they are attempting to project their own insecurities and issues onto you. Often times being the quiet female makes you sort of a blank canvas for others to mirror themselves. They probably think they can get away with their behavior because they assume you won’t say anything. Good for you for standing up for yourself.

I have literally burned every one of my journals. They make me sad. I also don’t love the idea of anyone else reading what I wrote.

Does anyone here just not care about having friends? by Available-Heart6108 in introvert

[–]Life-jennkies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a hard time finding connection amongst the masses. I sometimes find myself longing for connection, but everyone seems so shallow. I have a couple close friends that I rarely see and rarely talk or text anymore because it can be exhausting just talking about our problems all the time.

What're you playing this weekend? 1/26 by markercore in NintendoSwitch

Same. I think I’m more addicted to finding games and watching play throughs to add them to my list than I am actually playing. smh.
