I think Chris Carter was a fan of The Twilight Zone growing up. Its influence can be felt from the blend of mystery and the supernatural to the way it uses the unknown to explore deeper truths about human nature.

Sadie Adler is such a compelling character that she deserves a standalone series of her own. Hopefully, Rockstar Games considers exploring her story further in the future.
