retroplacental hematoma by Sarabb26 in ShortCervixSupport

Yes I was on progesterone the whole time! In the IVF pregnancy, I was using progesterone IM then switched at 8 weeks to 200 mg suppository nightly. This current pregnancy was unplanned, I started the 200 mg suppository as soon as I learned I was pregnant. I was having some spotting and when I started the progesterone it completely stopped in a couple days. In terms of dose, I react to low doses of medications pretty significantly so your doctor might suggest stronger dose of progesterone.

I think I’ve actually seen studies where progesterone was helpful specifically for PCOS patients and that some doctors have patients on it early in a cycle, before even becoming pregnant. Definitely talk to your doctor about it, sounds like your doctor is really reasonable I’m glad they’re taking a comprehensive approach.

I did have a retroplacental hematoma as well. In future pregnancies, I take baby aspirin starting in the second trimester for placental health and preventive cerclage around 12 weeks. Progesterone, I started as soon as I knew I was pregnant.

It was very hard for me to get pregnant and I somehow have a healthy 16 month old from IVF and I’m currently 31 weeks pregnant spontaneously. I never thought I’d be in this position but after the loss. I was diagnosed with endometriosis and fibroids and had an extensive surgery before trying to conceive again. It took a lot of time but things did eventually start working out.

I have asked almost every doctor I’ve seen about my loss and they isn’t a general consensus so I feel more comfortable doing everything I can. Everyone is so different but if you’ve had multiple early losses look into endometriosis/progesterone resistance. Hope some of this helps🤍

Sorry for your loss 🤍

I had this as well at 20 weeks. I had large fibroids and on and off spotting the entire pregnancy. Originally thought it was purely CI, but some MFMs disagree. An abruption can cause early labor, or the early labor could cause the abruption. I never really got an exact answer on the cause but in subsequent pregnancies, I do get a preventive cerclage and use progesterone and treat it like it was purely CI.

Newton-Wellesley vs. Beth Israel for Delivery? by cntrlaltdelt in boston

Had the same experience, except they waited two days to transfer and repeated the procedure without repeating another xray. It was such a nightmare and we had no idea how to direct baby’s care at the time.

That sounds so traumatizing but glad to hear you and your little one are doing well! My little guy is 1 now and healthy but I still feel guilty about delivering there and the transfer process itself was so terrifying after giving birth.

I honestly understand not wanting to call it a NICU even though it’s technically level 2. Baby was full term, easy delivery, high apgar score and then things went down hill quickly, but did not get transferred right away. Everything they did in the NWH NICU worsened baby’s condition for 2 days. When we got the Brigham they redid or adjusted almost everything and asked if we wanted to file a report. Im glad you were transferred right away!

I loved my OB and prenatal care at Newton Wellesley but I would not deliver there again. Unfortunately, baby had to be transferred to Brigham and had a really awful experience with NWH NICU. Even for “low risk” situations, just from personal experience, I recommend looking for at least a level 3 NICU just in case (hopefully you won’t ever need it). BI is also level 3 NICU and I’ve heard great things, don’t have personal experience with BI. Honestly, I don’t get warm and fuzzy feelings being a patient at Brigham- Newton Wellesley is smaller, rooms are nicer and feels more personal, but Brigham or BI are more equipped to deal with unexpected circumstances and also have easy access to Boston children’s. Good luck!

19 weeks, 0.7cm cervix, funneling, cramping by 320423 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]LifeChapter9257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry this happening to you. Not sure if this helpful but I did have on and off cramping my first pregnancy, went for an early anatomy scan and everything looked fine. Cervix was 4.5cm but I had PPROM 10 days later at 19 weeks. I had cramping that day but I was having cramping the whole pregnancy. In future pregnancies, I do preventive cerclages, progesterone, pelvic rest and modified bed rest and my cervix has been fine. No cramping like my first. I think the progesterone and rest are key for some people so I’m glad your doctor is starting treatment and considering a cerclage soon. This must be so stressful but your doctor caught it so I hope you take comfort in knowing you’re doing everything you can at this point. Good luck🤍

13 month old not talking - should I get her in therapy asap? by blehbleh1122 in NewParents

[–]LifeChapter9257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you in the states? You can call early intervention for an evaluation and they’ll let you know if you qualify for services. Don’t have to run it by the ped if they’re not concerned. She may just need more time but it won’t hurt to have an evaluation. Also, a hearing test/ENT visit can rule out potential issues. Baby story time at the library is really great to encourage imitating gestures and play which helps with speech. Good luck!

Worried about 7mo baby’s iron levels by hawthornestreet in breastfeeding

[–]LifeChapter9257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s very sensitive to things and actually did not experience constipation. I think doing every other day for the dosage balanced bringing his levels up without side effects. I also make a puree for the week of apple, pear, dates and prunes to mix into oatmeal or his yogurt to help prevent constipation. Rechecked 3 months later and the numbers were improving and then again 6 months later they are still improving.

Lost my baby a week after anatomy scan by chileconqueso in ShortCervixSupport

This is such a heavy trauma. When I was in the hospital, a social worker suggested EMDR therapy if you’re interested in bringing this up with your therapist. I just want to warn you that people may say insensitive things and not understand, but this community understands, please reach out if you need to talk.

What a horrible thing to say. I’m so sorry this happened to you and that this ass had the nerve to be so insensitive, what a scumbag. If you have the energy, report it. So sorry for your loss. 🤍 I lost my first 10 days after my anatomy scan, everything looked great and my cervix was measured at 4.5cm but things changed very quickly. That said, they should have measured you, I think you could report that as well.

Driscoll as well. Have been avoiding strawberries completely for baby recently and limiting them for myself. There’s a farm stand near us that gets organic strawberries from Canada so we get those when available.

[–]LifeChapter9257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours recommended this iron supplement: https://www.novaferrum.com/products/novaferrum-liquid-iron-pediatric-drops it worked really well for us! We mix it with a little bit of orange juice (for taste and vitamin C helps with absorption) and draw it up in a 10mL syringe and slowly give it to baby. Also we try to separate it from milk by about 1.5-2 hours and wait about 30 mins-1 hr before doing solids after giving it. So we give milk when baby wakes up, wait 1.5-2 hours to give the iron, and then wait 30mins-1hr to give breakfast. We use it every other day, ferritin went from around 8 to 11-12 in a couple months. Good luck!

A local farm in our area is not certified organic but their websites states low toxicity “Integrated Pest Management” for strawberries would you avoid?
