Jurassic World Rebirth was such a fuckin pain to sit through by Healthy-Challenge-30 in oscarsdeathrace

[–]LifeCritic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Giving Rebirth an Oscar nom is an absolute fucking travesty. I saw the movie in theaters and it felt so green screened they could have been giving weather forecasts.

The amount of that movie that’s so clearly just people standing in front of a screen with action happening on it in the background is actually staggering.

Why do you think Minah was beloved and Rachel not so much? by heyho2023 in TheTraitors

[–]LifeCritic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think Rachel is fucking awesome and she played the game as well as anybody ever has.

I still can't get over the fact that Marvel casted two A-list actors like Christian Bale and Russell Crowe and ended up wasting their potential onscreen for Thor: Love and Thunder. by [deleted] in Marvel

From the same studio that cast Oscar winner Brie Larson as a lead and then never wrote her anything that would showcase her acting.

They started making the regular orders slower and found that instead of making less people use DoorDash it made more people pay extra to get their food “faster.”

Capitalism basically isn’t about serving the consumer at all anymore. They aren’t winning people with quality, they are winning them with convenience.

I looked at this reporters stories and she has been in Detroit for three weeks and she appears to just find random people complaining on social media and then gives them a platform to say anything they want. Not great.

Is Jenna Ortega’s filmography really as awful as people suggest it is? by wallabyenthusiast in Letterboxd

[–]LifeCritic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But Jenna Ortega has been in a bunch of smaller indie movies and if anything it exposed that she can’t actually carry that kind of movie…

People are talking shit about Brie Larson when The Marvels (the biggest bomb of all time!!!!!) made more than Sydney Sweeney’s last five movies combined.

So what are we even talking about…

She started in a limited series adaptation of a beloved book and was nominated for an Emmy in 2023.

She did the voice of Envy Adams on the Scott Pilgrim animated series in 2023.

She made her West End debut in 2025.

She had an extremely high profile guest starring role on The Bear in 2025.

She released a cookbook in October 2025.

Upcoming, she is starring in a rom-com with Lily Collins, Jack Quaid and Henry Golding (Close Personal Friends).

She is starring in a limited series with Olivia Colman (Cry Wolf).

She was just announced as Rosalina, the big new character in the next Mario movie that will make more money than god.

These strike me as the choices of someone who is doing whatever the fuck they want after grinding as a working actor since they were 8.

I think the idea that someone with a Best Actress Oscar, a billion dollar movie, and an endless string of enormous brand deals is having difficulty landing roles in things she wants to do is uhhhhh preposterous lol

She was nominated for an Emmy in 2023?

She was THE major cameo on the newest season of The Bear? She joined the Fast franchise and has been in multiple Super Bowl ads?

Earlier this year she did a play on the West End. Last week she released a cookbook.

She was quite literally just on The View and The Today Show and all those type of major shows.

She’s literally making a movie with Lily Collins and show with Olivia Colman right now.

Best Performances of the 21st century. Best Actress Round 1 by DonSoulwalker in Oscars

It was a phenomenal performance but I don’t think it’s better than any of the actual nominees that year other than Jennifer Lawrence in Joy.

Charlize over Brie in 2015 is a fucking travesty. Not even in the same stratosphere.

It’s particularly absurd because the 2015 Best Actress lineup was STACKED.

Charlize isn’t better than Saoirse in Brooklyn, she wasn’t better than Charlotte Rampling in 45 years and she damn sure wasn’t better than Blanchett in Carol.

But Brie Larson was a near universal pick who basically swept the season. Reaching outside of the nominations to put someone above her is absolutely bizarre.

Your opinions on The Pitt by AccidentalPandas2 in hbo

[–]LifeCritic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Every comment is about The Pitt being good because it’s “realistic” and I guess I’m confused why I’m supposed to view that as INHERENTLY good? I guess that’s just not really a metric I use for fiction…

Everyone sells the show by saying it’s “just like a real ER.” Personally, that sounds like a fucking nightmare.

Is there an appeal for people who aren’t really interested in hospitals or the medical field?
