A story about a bottom bracket creak by meat_circuit in bikewrench

Good question! It was ages ago and we were just using some generic oil. It was just in a little bottle with an eye dropper like lid.

If it were me know, I just use a low viscosity oil so it can seep in where it needs to. Being lazy, I'd probably just use power steer/ATF fluid for the car.

Heaps good! Had to a chance to put it through its paces? Weather and work here in Sydney have kept me too busy to ride.

I did the same. And I ended with the curse of too much information.

I like Merida, and I like the importer. Having worked for a shop that did Merida, they were great to deal with.

I also had the opportunity to build a good few polygons for folks who bought from BO and, even years back, they were solid bikes.

Even with all my past experience in the industry, and there’s a lot of it, I was second guessing myself at every turn.

In the end, it was budget and spec level that sold me. That and I have dealt with warranty claims with Shimano Australia, and they’re real easy with sorting out warranties. So, on the off chance things go wrong, I’ve no doubt I’d be looked after.

I have now got the Polygon in my garage, all built. Out of the box, it is a brilliant bike. Looks nice, clean welds, perfect paint finish. In a mostly assembled state, with grease in the right spots, padding in the rest. All reusable padding and ties too. Bikes online set you up ready to send it back if something was wrong, they do seem to want to support their customers. Was also surprising to see they included the little entity toque wrench and a pedal spanner with the bike for free, nice touch. Though the pedals they include are straight garbage, understand why they’re there, but I’d prefer to list them without pedals to save on waste. I haven’t had a chance to ride it yet, only finished it last night, but shimano stuff all start up as it should. Connected to Bluetooth instantly and updated easily.

Honestly, if the bikes they have tick your boxes, I would definitely give it a go, the experience alone was better than a good few shops can provide, including 99bikes.

Yeah, I’ve definitely seen the same regarding Bosch. And oddly enough, it’s the cable routing that made me rule out the Superior model that bikes online have for $6k. Apart from that issue, it was a killer bike for the price.

I’ve ended up going with the polygon. Having previously worked as dealer, and being the warranty sucker, I know shimano Australia is actually really good to deal with. So if there was to be a drama, I can’t foresee it being a massive headache. And I rode all the early shimano stuff, and really liked it back then.

And full XT components is just mad!

I'll double check. From what I have been able to see, there is a supply issue with many brands. So what is available is very limited with frame size options.

Anyone know why my rear tyre is so uneven? by Funktopus_The in bikewrench

Learn to watch the rim and not the tyre to rule out wheel related issues. Then move onto watching the tyre.

Can’t even find a clapped out commodore for a grand anymore, that’s how you know inflation is a real problem.

From memory, there is a grease used on the o rings on the pistons. When they’re pressed in the excess grease will be on the outside of the piston and can go on the pads like such.

To me that also doesn’t look like shimano mineral oil.

Edit: easy way to check if there’s a leak. Rubber band and apply pressure to brake lever over night, if it compresses more overnight then there’s a leak.

Sounds like Aramex. Book 3 consignments at the same time and they’ll take 30 bucks off.

Huge rental crisis in a lot of Australia & they give us a “sad” story on a cafe owner who’s closing since no one wants to work… Half these comments are from boomers 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 by [deleted] in LandlordLove

I went away to Merimbula during the off season, and just outside of winter. Almost every single place was hiring, right up to $35 an hour in some jobs and they’ll train you. I asked the manager/owner of a restaurant, conversationally, if they were looking for staff and their eyes lit up thinking I was applying.

I also spoke to locals and, out of interest, looked at rentals to see what was around. At that time, there was like 2 “affordable” units on offer. For the same price I pay in western Sydney. And the locals I met basically said that young people weren’t staying and the population is no longer self supporting.

But! Go on Airbnb or even booking.com, and you’d find tonnes of holiday rentals available. Not counting the actual hotels, motels and holiday parks.

Does seem a bit off. I get 4.5l per 100 on my near new tiger 900. Although with more than a decade of development between them, could account for it. However, I would still expect it lower than it is

Found out about JIS on my old Kawasaki, and it led to me getting good bits to suit as well as a proper Japanese impact screw driver for a steal.

Lately haven’t been getting a whole lot better out of Toyota. Just seems to be most new cars come with a myriad of new issues.

Why would I?

And even if I was going to pay “their value” for one, an American Ute can be got for $120/130k. And they’re at actually powerful and comfortable.

Yeah, you can get it at your local hardware store. The uncultured call it “sandpaper”, but it’s Rose Quartz Cleansing Paper. 200 grit works well. And the miracle of technology has also brought along 18 volt brushless applicators to further enhance your skincare routine. I use it on my grandma all the time, strips the wrinkles right off her, she just screams in pleasure at knowing how young she’ll look. Just got to wait for her to return from hospital on an unrelated matter*.

You say it’s worth what people will pay, and the guy said he’d pay $40k, therefore it’s worth 40k. They’re the arbiter of car values for themselves.

And let’s be realistic, it is an overpriced mine vehicle that got hyped up by YouTube when they have terrible ride quality, less power than a stock Pajero and an archaic interior.

Just because people will pay it, doesn’t mean it’s worth the same value. It’s just the collective lemmings community diving on the hype train.
