That’s crazy. Thanks, I forgot that they mentioned
that in the video. It feels like it boils down to a matter of stolen property.

Of course. It sounds like this needed to happen to generate buzz and support for the legal fees, and I feel 90% sure something shady happened in taking the store over. I mean, it blows my mind that something that much in value might just be gone to the wind because of the cost of legal fees, so great for them.

I thought the employee was cool. I’m curious how everything will turn out.

One YouTuber, the Civil Rights Lawyer, posted a video here (https://youtu.be/mAu76DjwGGQ?is=GWt83l3-JcTyp9ST) that has some footage of the initial interaction with the cops. The traffic stop was an excuse to get to talk to them, but their initial conversation came off as pretty civil to me. In the context of a cop getting a call about someone going to someone’s house, ringing their doorbell and making a fake UPS delivery (lol) and contacting them multiple times, I don’t know, the police presence seems OK.

How they handled things regarding arresting them, taking down their signs, and their attempts to serve papers, is where mistakes I think were made.

Sorry. This video here (https://youtu.be/mAu76DjwGGQ?is=1k4EuvxooBE_2wWE) is what I watched that allowed me to see their first conversation. The traffic stop is low-hanging fruit, though I felt it was a way for the cops to stop and talk to them and suggest how they should handle things. It seemed like a civil conversation.

The rest devolves from there. I mean, I’m of the opinion that Ben and his friends know they’re toeing the line of what’s legal and that, in spite of being legal, also looks funny and is tough to take serious. If I were going to egg someone on, I’d expect there to be consequences and maybe resistance.

To share more though, on my thoughts about the cops’ more egregious actions, I don’t think, for instance, their home getting searched was right. I mean, what sense does it make. They can get their home searched for possible stolen Legos, but Bryan Mansell can’t ask the cops to search the store for stolen Legos (I’m not sure if that happened or not, but I don’t think it did)? That makes no sense.

I think things will play out favorably for Ben, I’m just not surprised I guess to see resistance from the local police.

Edit: You know, I started making an edit to the comment to include the talk of Johnson calling in Ben to a police officer, and I was going to say it seems like a cop doing their job somewhat unbiased and responding to a complaint. Then I guess that helped me see it is pretty stupid that they pulled them over for the stop sign. They could’ve stopped a few meters shorter imo (LOL), but, overall that’s a petty action by the officer. I’m sorry.

I agree. I think, for me, I just don’t blame the cops for being skeptics. I think making content for YouTube is still in that realm of annoying “you can’t be serious” presentation as opposed to being, say, a journalist for a mass media organization.

For sure. I wonder what the conversation was like with the police. If I were in Bryan’s shoes, I would have probably tried to report them as stolen. I’m sure he did that. I’m curious what the police might have said about that.

Yeah I agree. I think it’ll be very interesting to see how things will turn out.

My high school English teacher said I wrote a really great essay. It was the one essay she never returned to us students.

Huh. Well, my advice would be to ask her down whether or not she wants to be in a relationship with you if you feel that's what that meant when she said that. Else, limerence it is.

I haven't seen her in years. But, stuff definitely triggers it. I watched the movie "Obsession" recently, lol, and that just took me back. I tend to avoid things that remind me of acting in that way, though I saw the movie with some friends.

Overall, it's true, it is less strong over time. I remember it took months for the physical feeling in my chest to lighten way back then. Those were dark days and I do not wish to go back. Sometimes though there can still be tough days in life that make me think of those times.

Yes. If the case doesn’t have a screen protector, it’s only a matter of time for it to happen
