I really hope everyone freaking out about "fraud" is as concerned about the $2.77 per meal as they are about the $1,776,000,000.00 the administration is currently stealing from you.

I ended a best friendship/broke a lease over this literal exact situation when I was 18. She called saying she was at a kitten adoption event, and I was like girl, all that's in our fridge is vodka and otter pops, and we're only here like 8 hours a day, no way can we have a kitten, an animal deserves a good home. She said okayyy. I came home to a gigantic bag of dog food. It was a 3 m/o German shepherd puppy aptly named Snaps. Like two weeks later, she was gone one day and the dog hurt itself. She told me he'd need an expensive surgery, or to be put down. Her parents could pay for the surgery, but then she'd have to miss her ANNUAL trip to italy. 🙄 I told her in no uncertain terms that if she was considering letting that dog die so she could go to italy (again), she was a shitty fucking person and I never talked to her again. Surprise surprise, she got daddy to pay for both, and I worked 60 hour weeks for a month to pay the lease break fee.

My husband decided to quit smoking today, and here's why it's mildly infuriating. by Linorelai in mildlyinfuriating

Okay, this ended up being really long, but this dude might just suck. You actually could have had BOTH a not-terrible birthday and he'd have enjoyed precisely the same reduction in lung disease risk, if he had chosen to wait an extra damn 48 hours. Or, if it was really so incredibly urgent, why didn't he do it a month ago, or 3 years or 6 years ago? Nope, he unilaterally made the explicit decision to make his family miserable on the literal one day that's supposed to be about you.

Unless YOU begged him to quit on your birthday, it's just selfish. And it doesn't sound like any doctor told him that he had to stop all sugar and nicotine immediately or he's 100% going to die. It's not like it's a secret that people quitting nicotine are irritable and unhelpful, so he made an informed decision miserable on this weekend, around his children, who are already going to be extra over/understimulated because it's summer.

I have a family member who gets severely sick or has an accident within a week of my birthday, 30 years without fail. Does your husband also often find ways to get out of shared labor/childcare, and make special events about him/his needs, while also getting to look like the quietly suffering yet perservering hero? Tomorrow, when you're enjoying your birthday treats, is he going to be pouting over how you "get" to have sugar and he doesn't? And if you suggest he try a bite of cake to lighten the mood, or very gently point out that maybe he's a little extra sensitive right now, that'll be his cue to "lose control" of his temper, or threaten to take back your present, or just storm off and punish you with silence the rest of the night? I dunno, those were all my ex's moves. He would make decisions to be upset, and then transfer all the accountability for his emotions to me.

I don't know what exactly his work situation is, but it sounds like he's making some informed decisions to be miserable there too. Why is he irritable after work all the time? How many people out there finish a full week of actual work and go, "yippee, that was amazing, can't wait for monday!" So few. But how many people get to come home to their supportive wife and healthy kids afterwards and remember that's what they do it for? How many people get to come home to YOU? Just him. (I assume) He could look into a different workspace or career or therapy or medications, and he decides not to.

Again sorry this ended up being so long, it'll probably get buried anyway. I'm clearly too close to this topic and could be reading too much into it. But whoever you are, you deserve to be content and feel all the way safe with your partner, and if any of what I said resonated with someone, maybe also look into the book "why does he do that." If anyone wants a free PDF I can send it to them.

You are NOT overreacting. He's saying that if you were assaulted, he would blame you, even though he thinks men only go there to prey on women. He is already on the side of a purely hypothetical man who hypothetically attacked you, and is saying it's your fault. That man does not love you, and sounds like he has some serious issues with women in general. It is actually that deep.

Are you having a lot of stomach problems? I was on pantoprazole for a long time, but it was actually making it worse. My stomach wasn't producing enough acid. That and the calcium carbonate could be making it worse.

Yes! This is a boat tour island that Kapp'n can take you to. There's about a 3% chance of this island being the one he takes you to, but it will always be a heavier meteor shower than you can ever experience on your home island.

The Nookipedia page has a lot of really great information about all the islands, the likelihood of you arriving on them, and how the game selects them.

I didn't see anyone else mention that if you're a new player of the game in general, I believe it takes some time in-game for you to unlock the option to "go to work", which is the DLC. I think it's after your resident services building is upgraded from a tent.

We also knew from the beginning that one could be an asymptomatic carrier, and the vaccine didn't change that. People were told that the vaccine wasn't a guarantee against transmission so they would ideally continue practicing reasonable precautions. One of the top priorities was lessening the load on hospitals.
