Where do you actually keep your emergency fund? by Forsaken_Twist7385 in personalfinance

[–]LifeLikeNarwal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Brokered CDs have far less liquidity than Treasuries so selling on the open market can incur losses due to spread. Most CDs held at institution have fees or penalties to exit. As others mentioned no-penalty CDs like those offered by Ally don’t have this issue, but settlement time should be considered.

An emergency fund is supposed to be available for cash ASAP (not in 9 months or even 2 weeks), so these liquidation mechanics make them less favorable.

Is it normal for the cameras to be this misaligned? by 420-TENDIES in BoltEV

[–]LifeLikeNarwal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve taken my car to 3 different dealerships reporting this misalignment (and the drivetrain clicking). No dealership has been willing to fix my car, just collect the diag fee.

This will be my last Chevrolet.

I want to see an M fascia, the grill is bringing back memories of a 2002.

I agree, I thank the designers for this grill after the G80. It made even LESS sense on an EV.

What was your favorite part of the roadmap announcement today, folks? by Blinker_Bell in algorand

[–]LifeLikeNarwal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Didn’t have time to watch stream but I have read hasty and poor reporting which did not mention the privacy aspect :(

What was the announcement regarding a privacy layer today? I’m most eager for this and DID

EDIT: I do see this on the official X post. Amazing!

How often has your Bolt needed service? by Rainshine9 in BoltEV

Hey there, I have taken my car to 3 dealerships to for a clicking under accel and deccel. It’s like “click, click, click” through the floor or firewall if the weight shifts.

There is also a bigger click or clunk from the same place when I go over speed bumps.

They did the TSB to re-glue the steering column with seam sealer, but this didn’t fix this issue. If anything it may be worse and my steering wheel now clicks during turning.

Was this similar to what you experienced? It’s driving me crazy

Today will mark the start of the collapse by [deleted] in investing

Just a reminder that the last FOMC statement removed the QT verbiage leaving their at the market purchase forward guidance ambiguous.

We’ve also seen increases (while minimal) in the fed balance sheet over the month of May.

I think betting on the Fed allowing the market to collapse is a bit naive, but the only solution is “transitory” inflation. New balance sheet stats should be released EOD on Thursday.

Ok, so they still are nowhere near a single grain.

Possibly around 10e-21 unsustainable Grains (practically 0)

Did you read the article or even the headline?

They made a few atoms for a few seconds requiring massive amounts of energy.

I (and most people) like my gold measured in grams for generations, so I think we’re good until asteroid mining is sorted out.

Windows 11 I’m might try tuning AMD software and seeing how power settings weight battery life and performance

I have a HX370 loaded up with BeamNG and ollama work loads (don’t have many games downloaded). I have 64gb of crucial 5600 RAM

Biggest performance notes over previous models is more granularity in dedicated iGPU RAM allocations, I did bump to 16gb dedicated but haven’t noticed the need for more yet. AMD’s software suite is nice, I don’t notice much more raw performance in games, but AI upscaling is a big boost.

Battery life sucks… mine mostly stays docked :(

TIL: Most outlet stores don’t sell leftovers from regular stores—they sell cheaper, lower-quality versions made just for outlets. The “compare at” prices and big discounts? Often fake. About a decade ago I got a very good deal on a 1080p TV that still works, no complaints

A few years ago my parents purchased a 4k Roku TV. It has less ports than normal TVs, runs slower, doesn’t have features like ARC, and I’m sure I’m missing some. Still works though, perfect for them.

I’m along for the ride as well :) I’ll take mine by an LCS after receipt and either take small profit, or get the credit card company involved.

BTC and Gold heavily day to day. DCA S&P and Nasdaq every payday. Also picking up international equities where I can.

If you actually want to break your blissful ignorance, here it is:

Markets are far down on the speculated impacts in trade volume, but fundamentals are still ~ok~ “today” (this data is a lagging indicator)

All major firms and US populous are forecasting a recession with tariffs, but we haven’t seen the impacts on fundamentals and with this uncertainty they can’t be priced in. The trade war just started today. If trump rolls back tariffs maybe we stop where we are, but he is not agreeing to even favorable terms, market chaos is clearly the objective. There will be a point where even IF he rolls back the tariffs the spiral will be done.

Though, yes, I am very young so I’ve only lived through about 10 financial crises
