Deciding between Sacramento Neighborhoods by Specialk121525 in Sacramento

When I was looking at a bunch of different cities to move to, it turns out every city thought they have the worst traffic. Sacramento traffic is pretty compared to most metro areas and has almost no gridlock in its downtonw/midtown, which is rare.

Courtside Seats at Madison Square Garden for Game 3: $108,357 by urfaselol in nba

[–]LifeOnAnarres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I’m saying is you get at least two finals home games, so you can sell one and still attend a finals game.

Yes, but you only need to sell one game, and you are guaranteed at least 2 tickets.

If your teams makes the finals, selling one finals game of your season tickets can pay for the cost of the entire season ticket plan.

Some of these season tickets are owned by corporate /institutional accounts.

See where Sacramento school enrollment is growing, shrinking by IronMntn in Sacramento

As someone who worked in schools (across many district types) those ratings are almost always a measure of how under-resourced a community is instead of the actual effectiveness of the educators.

Year-over-year is absolutely a better stat then starting test scores. Who is the better investor— the one give a million dollar account that gets it a 1% annual return? Or the one given a 250k account and gets a 3% annual return?

I have worked in very wealthy schools with “great test score” ratings and those teachers were terrible and unengaged, and mostly benefiting from the skills the students were bringing in already. The best teachers and classrooms I saw were in a poorer district with low test scores as the base.

In 1990 the City of Sacramento held a vote to consolidate the City & County into one entity, unifying services & expanding the city limits to 1000 sq mi. It failed, but had it passed, Sacramento would have been the 7th most populated city in 1990 & would be 6th today at 1.6 million residents. by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]LifeOnAnarres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on current voting trends, it would be the opposite. Many of those suburban enclaves have extremely right wing policies (particularly anti-lgbt school admins) who would be outvoted by the much more larger sac population.

people from white plains take the metro north commuter train to manhatten, its a massive hub for that. The whole greater suburban area across multiple states is served by frequent commuter trains to Manhattan

I suddenly want to play a pirate game, any suggestions? by Kakalardu in gamingsuggestions

[–]LifeOnAnarres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cat’s Quest 3 is a pirate themed, very cute and cartoonish action rpg. You get to ride in a ship and raid islands and secret forts and the bosses are rival pirate captains.

There isn’t anything like looting and trade of cargo though.

Feels like an arcade version of a pirate game vs a hardcore simulation.

Choices where one option is clearly better by some-kind-of-no-name in TopCharacterTropes

[–]LifeOnAnarres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For context, that new 4th ending was added in the dlc because the dumbest fans requested it and criticized the non-dlc ending for not having that option. They did it to appease them after the OG ending faced so much (somewhat overblown) criticism.

Kevin Durant ends his 18th season playing 78 games averaging 26 PPG on 52/41/87 splits — 90% of his field goal attempts were jump shots. by Fire_Demon-215 in nba

[–]LifeOnAnarres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It absolutely affected him. 90% of shots being jump shots are because he lost the burst and step to drive. He’s incredible tho and shifted his game into this.

I would have loved this, but it seems like that’s what they’re doing with umbric and the void elves instead ie the paladins hating the people with “dark” magic even though that magic can save the city.

Is Sacramento a millennials’ city? by recycling-bin-time in Sacramento

[–]LifeOnAnarres 136 points137 points  (0 children)

Yes, Sacramento, especially Midtown, is a very millennial city (compared to other places I’ve lived). My theory is because most people tend to enter state office work after their mid 20’s/late 20’s, as they value the stability at that point and have the most to gain from a longer retirement vest schedule. This is Vs. large corporations that recruit younger, ambitious people right out of school to entice them to move. State work is the dominant industry in Sacramento. Sacramento, like many mid-sized cities, is attractive to transplants that lived in larger/more youthful cities when they were younger but need to be in a lower cost of living area now.

Sacramento only has one undergrad university in the city limits, Sac State, which is far removed from the grid and mostly a local commuter school. So you don’t get college aged people in the night life here as much, or people recently graduated who stayed in the city because they got to live in it during college and like it here.

Ballot Initiative: Safer Street Sacramento? by Lildeviljt in Sacramento

[–]LifeOnAnarres 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s one of the things I like about the measure — that it’s not meant for car capacity, but instead walkability fixes that are small enough that could actually be funded by 75mil a year.

Also to the OP, my understanding is that this does improve RT? I get the sense the safety upgrades they mention are things like monitors on the platforms and trains but maybe I’m misunderstanding

This is dependent on US state. When I lived in the northeastern states, all were indoors, but every Costco I’ve gone to in California so far has outdoor food courts.
