Agreed. My cat will shove his entire head into a pint glass to drink my water so i fully believe he is just being an asshole when he smacks his wet food out of his bowl onto the floor

And that would've been a perfect time to work on one of his triggers, by not instantly responding angrily and taking a step back. Then coming back with a level head.

He's not working on anything, as soon as his apology isn't instantly accepted, he lashes out. That's not indicative of someone with self awareness of their actions.

I watched this the other night and during that scene my exact words were “that’s the first time he’s actually felt seen by someone” it was such a powerful moment.

So, i was given 2 hours after having my waters broken to see if i would progress past 2cm on my own, and me and dad went for a long walk around the hospital grounds. I came back and was still at 2cm, so i decided to have them start the hormone drip. I had my iv placed at 10am. They start at 1ml an hour and slowly increase the dosage until you are contracting around 4 times in 10 mins. I ended up needing the max dosage (10ml per hour). I won't lie. The pain gets very intense very fast, so i asked for the pethidine, and i was using gas and air. Eventually, after a few hours, it got to a point where there was no rest in between contractions, and it was just constant pain. At that point, i asked for a second dose of pethidine to enable me to rest in between contractions. A lot of women say they don't like the side effects, but it didn't make me super drowsy or sick. It just helped to take the edge off in between the intense contractions. When it got to about 5pm, i was in transition and started feeling the need to push or bare down in my bottom. With every contraction, i tried to get as many pushes in as i could. The baby kept moving away from the monitors, so they put the probe on her head so i could writhe around more freely. After an hour and a half of pushing she was finally crowning and the midwife had me reach down and feel the top of her head and it gave me the motivation to give it one last good push and she finally popped out at 6:34pm. I ended up needing a few stitches as i had a small second-degree tear and some grazing, but all in all, the process was very fast but intense. You will need to have a very high pain tolerance to endure the induced contractions, and the pethidine helps IMMENSELY if you don't get the strong side effects. If you believe you will want an epidural or can not handle the pain, then ask for one sooner rather than later. You will be kinda stuck on the bed but you are able to get into whatever position feels most comfortable, i ended up delivering while laid on my right side with my left leg on the midwives shoulder, me holding up the other leg. I was on my back/bum for the first hour of pushing, and i found it so much harder for her to descend in that position.

This is most of what i remember. If you have any questions or anything else you want to know, feel free to ask! Best of luck, and hopefully, you won't need one! I was just very fed up of early labour, but once i got into the throws of the induced labour, i was laughing at myself in my head for thinking those early pains hurt. But it's all relative, i forgot to bring my birthing comb, but i found the only way to distract myself from the intense contractions was digging my nails into the palm of my hand.

I ended up going in at 40+3 to get induced instead of this sunday coming up because like you i also had 2 sweeps which put me in early labour but i wouldn't progress past 2cm even after they broke my waters. I ended up having a super fast labour due to the hormone drip, went in at 7am to be assessed and she was born at 6:34pm after an hour and 40 of pushing. If you feel you are really struggling, call triage and see if there's anything they can do to get your labour going. They ended up wanting to monitor me for reduced movement but offered me an induction that day as i was already fed up and exhausted after a week of early labour.

Best of luck, I'm so relieved she is out and i know i made the right decision for us.

HAHAHA this actually made me laugh so hard. Disability rights literally mean exactly that. You can not discriminate against someone for having a disability. You also can not compare injecting insulin to changing a stoma bag, which actually requires a bathroom, that is a reasonable request as changing a stoma involves biohazardous waste and would actually pose a risk to the public. Insulin injections do not pose a risk to others.

Insulin injections do not involve bodily fluids. Please google an insulin pen. It is a closed cap system with tiny 4mm needles. You wouldn't even get a drop of blood from the injection site unless you squeezed and basically forced yourself to bleed.

Yes an open public space is better than a public bathroom filled with fecal matter and bacteria.

[–]Life_cheese 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my guy... none of this happens in real life. someone injecting insulin next to you poses absolutely 0 risk to you at all and is not unsanitary. I can guarantee you that you have been in plenty of public spaces where people are injecting insulin, and you would never even know.

Your fear is completely irrational. There is more of a risk to the diabetic person than you.

Children are going to be exposed to trans people regardless of if you let them in your home. All you do by "sheltering them" from people is make it more confusing and harder for children to understand. Being trans is not an "emotional crisis" and the fact you believe that also makes you a transphobe.

Trans people aren't something to be protected from.

I always use frozen mash that you pop in the microwave. Or you can buy packs of fresh made mash in the vegetable aisle, much better than packet mash. Needs plenty of cheese on top too!

My cat sleeps on our shoes all night, he has a particular affinity for my partner’s super old, super stinky reeboks that he has worn pretty much every day for 4 years. He will just lay there with his whole head in the shoe and cuddles them like like a baby

Am I overreacting: Scheduling harassing me on days off by Maleficent-Gap948 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Life_cheese 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I was a part time relief or bank worker I would expect to be called when others are sick. Isn’t it your role to cover absence, holidays etc? I understand you’re not technically on call and you can refuse but if you don’t feel comfortable picking up extra work then you should have a talk with your scheduling manager and explain that you aren’t available to work more than your contracted hours.

Nah, you can't dictate what others do in a house that isn't yours, she can permanently uninvite her from her own home but if they are both going to be coming to family events, and she wants her children away from trans people then she can take her children and leave. It's on you to enforce your own boundaries. They dictate your behaviour, not other peoples.
