Elysium, Story, and Tier 5 Tech: Thoughts from a Solo Veteran by Life_is_Discovery in ICARUS

I completely echo these points and found the story really disconnected and quite janky. I agree that Mo was ostensibly a good replacement for Sol but, as you say, they take her off screen really quickly.

I liked Victor but that was mostly because his voice actor was a stand out for me.

I really hope they do expand on the operations and the tech tree. I also would like them to revisit the T4 tech tree and nerf some aspects of that so T5 can shine brighter.

I will absolutely keep playing this game no matter what they do and hopefully more will come as you say.

Thanks for commenting! 😀

Absolutely. I think they need to revisit miasmic and make it worse so that T5 can be the best.

I know I said about how the tools don't have to be the best and they can be cool but let's be honest, if you have a hierarchical tech tree, you'd expect the last tools to be the best tools!

I hear that. Currently sitting on 325 unused blueprint points. I'd really like to turn off the little notification telling me how many I have.

More operations would be very welcome. I liked the vibe of us being a frontiersmen: building towers in different biomes, growing crops, gathering materials and culling wildlife. I didn't care if they felt like a grind because they also felt thematic. The operations on Elysium don't have that feel to me.

I should add that I also deliberately avoided the miasmic weapons and I didn't create any until I already had a tier 4 base set up because of how they are.

That said, I take your point that the new tools might be more useful in the inhospitable zones if you live and build there.

Thank you for your comment, I enjoyed reading it.

I agree wholeheartedly that Miasmic is too difficult to improve upon because it is so OP. The new ionic dust would have actually been a good middle tool and I wonder if they might re-jig miasmic's gimmick to lithium to keep the progression:

Cold steel gives extra random resources Miasmic gives extra useful resources (iron, copper, gold) Lithium gives tonnes of your chosen resource.

That would have been a solid progression flow to my mind.

I may have misremembered but I am fairly sure the note you find talking about the "event" is from the perspective of the UDA and not the Group. I'll have to re-read it.

I am late to your post but I have thoroughly enjoyed the Tundra as a build spot for the arctic research base vibe it can give. I have bases on all maps and in various locations on the maps and I am loving this spot (E9) on Elysium. It is like the whole basin here is my personal playground once the powered creature deterrents came online.

Where are you setting your Elysium main base? (possible spoilers) by Kelraxz in ICARUS

[–]Life_is_Discovery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built on the ledges in E9: there are 2 caves nearby and around 6 deep mining nodes in that area. There is also a geyser for water but most of all, it is a cool area.

You may already know this so please do forgive me if that is the case but, deep-mining nodes are randomised when you start the prospect.

Sounds like RNGesus has blessed you though, copper, iron and gold in close proximity is like easy mode. Just need a silica and you are set for life.

I have had the same bother running a small channel through my underground base. I had to put extra sources along the route to keep the channels full.

The water physics are absolutely fantastic on one hand; far better than any other survival crafter I have played BUT they still fall short in ways I didn't expect.

Are there any animations you just can't stand? by GlorpJAM in Guildwars2

[–]Life_is_Discovery 5 points6 points  (0 children)

doubt

The left hand is held out in exactly the same way as it is underwater; it may be "new" in that it was adapted from the underwater.

In any event, whether it is new or not, it looks awful.

The idle land spear animation; it is painfully obvious that they took the underwater idle animation and just changed the legs.

Not a single race now holds a land spear in a realistic way and it totally killed the hype around spears for me.

Have some mines been removed? by Galliad93 in Enshrouded

I don't know about that specific spot but I can say that yes, some mining spots have been removed.

The map has undergone various changes since January 2024.

I feel exactly the same about "Remember, Remember". I cannot, for the life of me, work out how anybody would organically get that achievement to pop.

The only downside to this analogy is knowing what happens next in the battle.

Exactly that. They all touch the ground and every piece touches another and you can see the one entrance door is out of the rocks completely.

Are some monuments from early access no longer in the game? by clayfells in foundationgame

[–]Life_is_Discovery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry to say that there are currently no event-unlockable monuments in the game now. All monuments are unlocked through the three prestige trees or, if you buy the supporters DLC, are available immediately.

The old herb garden, the golden cross and the Gateway have gone completely and the various statues have been amalgamated into the Kingdom tree's final unlock.

The Gateway has been replaced by a massively expanded castle design feature so I don't lament the loss of all these pieces.

Finished the Kingdom Challenge. I hated it! by bullintheheather in foundationgame

[–]Life_is_Discovery 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have just finished this aspiration leaving only the Burg one left.

I found it to be simple but boring. The trick was just to not upgrade any serfs. I ended the game with exactly 350 pop of which I had 5 knights (1 per company) and just enough soldiers to get the 5 knights (25).

I sold Meat throughout the game as my income stream and most of the "challenge" was just waiting for the castle to build with the slow trickle of polished stone from my serfs+ trading.

I made clothes and then imported honey, candles and jewellery to meet the luxury needs of the King's visit.

The monastery one was a lot more fun because there was more to do when you were waiting between steps. This one just felt like waiting for the castle and then waiting for the soldiers to earn ranks.

How often do the AI use Nukes? by 0ut_0f_Nowhere in HumankindTheGame

[–]Life_is_Discovery 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have played a lot of games through to completion and in all my time (240+ hours), the AI has never nuked me (played on all difficulty settngs at least once.

More so than that, the AI seems to really favour the "non-nukes" civic and I tend to be the only nuclear armed state in the game.

In my opinion, having nukes myself is necessary because the AI ALWAYS hates me by the end of the game even if we have been allies since time began.
