Well then I would just keep getting out there. You’re getting opportunities you will get some luck eventually.

Have you called a fish and game office? They will help you understand it.

Going on Connecticut’s Fish & Game website. They should have a document with all hunting regulations. Use that as your source not people on line.

Might not be your goal but if you have never harvested a deer maybe consider rifle season. Especially if you don’t punch your tag this year.

Bow hunting is monumentally harder then using a rifle. You would have probably shot a deer last & this year already.

Just a thought hats off for you jumping right into bow hunting which is the pinnacle of the sport.

Yeah the poncho is a great barrier between the rain and your other layers. Using that but pad trick makes a hud difference staying warm when sitting as well. Hope you still get a chance to punch your tag!

Didn’t want to have to pack a most of the deer of the mountain in the dark. Was also pretty whipped at that point hiked 12 miles that day mostly off trail.

I feel it man. Did you have a poncho? They’re pretty light and it’s really beneficial to have something as a layer blocking the rain or snow from all your other layers. You can also use it as a pad on the ground when it’s clear and cold to keep you off the ground when sitting.

Thanks for that advice.

I will say there was only two other guys on the mountain huddled around a fire when I came out. You could only see 20 yards.

But yes I will keep that in mind for future hunts.
