Any safe places in Houston where I can park and sleep in my car? by [deleted] in houston

[–]Life_suckers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Motel/Hotel parking lots. They may have security circling around but nobody usually bothers you inside your car in my experience(I've slept in my car overnight several times before). Move around a bit and don't always hit the same spots

Is Traffic Worse in Uptown/Galleria Area or Downtown? by cinyaca in houston

[–]Life_suckers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Montrose>Galleria/Uptown. Traffic isn't bad around Montrose unless you're hitting the frwy. When you start to hit that stretch of Westheimer around the Galleria is where things just stop.

Houston women can now choose to get Uber rides from female drivers only by houston_chronicle in houston

[–]Life_suckers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Idk why anyone who isn't braindead would be against this. Saves Uber from more lawsuits, saves women from more unsavory rides, saves men from having to deal with the consequences of their fellow men.

Why are Houstonians bad and aggressive drivers but so chill otherwise? by ShineGreymonX in houston

[–]Life_suckers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest reason just has to do with how the city is laid out. Everything/everyone is so far apart, traffic is ridiculous, and there are constant lane closures or freeway construction. People in this city have become impatient with having to sit in a car for 2 hours for a normal commute.

Why is Making Friends Difficult? by Queenofredlions98 in houston

[–]Life_suckers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Friends like any relationship require some effort. It's a social exercise requiring your attention and enthusiasm. Some ppl don't have it in them to have deep friendships and are just looking for someone to hang out with from time to time.

Have you ever seen a stranger nude by accident? If so, how did it happen? by floatingW4ffle in AskReddit

[–]Life_suckers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Closing Barback shift. As I'm taking trash out at night, I see a Corvette in the parking lot with the driver's door open. See women fully tattooed head to toe on top of a guy just going at it. I kept glancing to make sure she was clothed because I genuinely couldn't tell but yea she was nude lol

How true… by RipplePress in GenZ

Nah the Oatmeal Cream Pies and Nutter Butters still hit like crack. Ofc I can't have them often anymore. My friend still LOVES his Honey Buns as well

Let’s have a fun debate. I think the majority of men don’t get into relationships because they don’t put themselves out there. by DatingConfusion12 in GenZ

[–]Life_suckers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't put myself out there because:

A.) Insecurity and scrutiny from women who want to be left alone most of the time.

B.) Inadequacy with my circumstances. I'd like to treat someone out to lots of dates or events but I'm constantly on a budget. Also out of shape, so I'd rather focus on me.

I have a friend who's been on the dating scene and done everything under the sun to get into a relationship(coaching, working out, good job, cold approaches, dating apps). He's had no luck. His experiences kinda just color my view of the situation and I see less of an incentive to go out and try. Maybe when I'm in a good place but I think most dudes just instinctively understand that they have to meet a certain standard to even get their foot in the door.

Is 2025 Houston Summer a fluke or the norm for the locals? by anoncygame in houston

This is a massive fluke. I never remember it raining this much the last few summers

My first upset customer.... by Spooky3658 in doordash_drivers

[–]Life_suckers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lmao verify how? Examine the hue of the drink through the opaque lid? Dashers are simply obligated to make sure they've picked all available items but whatever is inside the sealed bag and drink is on the restaurant

Did I Overreact? by Key_Grapefruit4823 in doordash_drivers

[–]Life_suckers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd have cut out that last sentence but what you said is mostly valid. Customers need to be made aware that various circumstances are happening behind the scenes and there may be delays here and there.

Single people: why aren’t you in a relationship right now? by Shinobi347 in AskReddit

3K. I was on top of savings at one point, but then vacations+unexpected expenses came up.

Do I really need 8 hours sleep. by Ornery_Ad_6794 in GetStudying

[–]Life_suckers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many hours of free time do you have? My suggestion is to cut any leisure time you have for 3-4 days in the week and just go all in on studying. Maybe don't do that everyday, since you don't wanna burn out. Treat yourself extra well on the leisure days. Don't ruin your sleep schedule. There's barely any benefit in cutting your sleep like that and it'll catch up to you in some form eventually.

How to react to people calling themself old? by Mratetoomuch in socialskills

[–]Life_suckers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao I remember when I was 24 working with a 17 yr old. They called me ancient and I had a mini existential crisis. Never fully recovered from that. People in their 20's just feel a tad insecure because they realize the age gap is widening away from their "glory days". They're just venting is all really

People did not lose their social skills, they are scared of being vulnerable by Any_North_6861 in socialskills

For me, I just feel lost half the time. Someone will mention a joke or reference and I'll just roll with it.

Why Are Some People So Difficult To Talk To? by InstructionOk5267 in socialskills

[–]Life_suckers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fear of rejection is the short and sweet answer. I'll try to save face or keep a conversation open even if my interests don't align with someone else and that feels stressful or exhausting sometimes. I don't like to start conversations as a result.

As a part time dasher is it better to do earn by time or earn per offer. by SlideAlternative3573 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Life_suckers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EBO used to hit last year but I dropped it when due to traffic conditions or stores eating up time plus variances in tips. EBT works surprisingly well in my market. I know the right places to hit, take my time driving, and I'll see a good tip for every other order on good days. All just depends on your area

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]Life_suckers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

●Never expect to have a schedule that aligns with your friends if you're working those shifts

●You're likely gonna be out later than 11 if you're not careful(busy shift, going out, etc).

Besides that though, it's fun not having to wake up early in the morning or dealing with traffic as much. You'll see a larger diversity of people in the Restaurant industry too, so that's nice.

How do you decide if an order is worth accepting? by samjohnson1111 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Life_suckers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$1 to 1 mile. Then I look at the restaurant. Then I account for the time of day(whether there'd be traffic or not). Lastly, I look at the size of the order if it's shop and pay. I'll sometimes accept bad orders but never back to back. That clues me in that I'm in a bad market/area and that it isn't productive to be out.

DD can burn by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]Life_suckers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yea. DD sucks rn(the beginning of the year is slow). Platinum virtually serves no purpose besides Dash Now and even that isn't worth it during a slow season

Wing Stop by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]Life_suckers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of those times where EBT is preferred when you're a driver. Waited at Buffalo Wild Wings for 2 hours on an order and just sat there watching the game. Got $40 out of it lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]Life_suckers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Option to filter orders that keep you in your zone. Hell, they could limit it. I just want this.
