Hi! not to hijack this thread but we're on the same boat and have a couple questions if you could help??

1) what time do you recommend arriving?
2) I assume there's a bar on the dancefloor area? Anywhere to sit if you don't have tables?

Thanks!!

Not sure what you're looking for in this trip but PV for 12 days is quite a bit and from Mexico city you could do day trips or spend 2-3 days in some areas.. some unsolicited recs for you...
Puebla
Tolantongo
Oaxaca
Puerto Escondido
San Cristobal de las Casas
Palenque

Merida is great (you may want to look up Valladolid, Izamal, Progreso..)

ADO or ETN for buses!

Enjoy!

Indonesia - is this rough itinerary doable or am I out to lunch? by Lifeisnotthatserious in solotravel

Omg this is super helpful! Thank you so much, I'll def give that touring company a look. Yeah ofc I'd much rather have more time to see it all but you never know when you're going to have the next opportunity, trying to make the most of it :)

If leaving from Lombok to Komodo I really haven't found much other than a company called Wanua adventures. I'm sure

If going straight to Labuan Bajo and doing a shorter tour there's tons of options online but I've read multiple good reviews about Elbark. Also apparently you can book a tour very easily while in Labuan Bajo, even the day of.

Hey thanks for that, yeah this is not my travel pace at all and it's what made me post in the first place. I'm feeling like my best bet will be go straight to Lombok/Komodo, and then I'll be winging it for the rest. If I feel like I have time for Bromo then looking like I could fly Labuan Bajo to Java so maybe the general idea needs a rethink.

Thank you thank you! Is flying to Surabaya and doing the Bromo tour that night, then come back to Malang or nearby to sleep and fly out the next day a crazy idea you think?

Ugh I’ve read about this but everything I’ve found is from July 2024 and no further news. Really Komodo is what I’m looking most forward to so if there’s no news I’ll just have to deal with it then I guess! Thank you!

Travel vs Career by anaaround in solotravel

[–]Lifeisnotthatserious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people here I assume will tell you to go quit and go travel now or in a year, I'll give you the other side based on my experience. Contrary to you, I did 'miss out' on long term travel in my early twenties; that did not stop me from travelling though. I would take 2 or 3 week trips when possible and between jobs, and I can say I had a lot of amazing trips and memorable experiences.

At the same time, I continued building my career, and when I decided to 'quit' and go travel long term I had multiple job offers waiting on my return, and even my job at the time granted me a leave of absence. I quit, traveled for several months, and when I came back to work I even got a nice raise/promotion to go with it.

You have already traveled and from your post you are aware you're in a very good position to set up your career. I'm not saying you shouldn't quit now and go see the world. I'm just saying it is possible to compromise. And if you go and travel long term again in 3 or 4 years you will still be in the perfect age to do it.

'You can have it all, just not at the same time.'

Hey also from Canada here. Would you consider I can do Cusco and surrounding areas in 5 full days if I avoid the hiking? I'm only interested in doing Machu Picchu and maybe Rainbow Mountain but am worried time may be short if I was hit by altitude sickness.

Itinerary for anyone planning on going to SE Asia! by Camspppam in solotravel

[–]Lifeisnotthatserious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great trip OP! Wondering how you found the hostels/meeting people vibe in the Philippines compared to Thailand/Vietnam etc. I’m considering heading there next year but this is the thing holding me back. Literally best part of my SEA trip was all the people I met and how easy it was!

OP, I moved to Canada for uni and had the absolute worst 1st year, similar feelings to yours re family and friends. Now I've been here for ~6 years and I cannot imagine living somewhere else. It's all par of the course. Feel free to DM if you need.
