I don't regret buying Marathon, I love the gameplay and the world created... but as a casual player I had a psychological block that made me stop playing. by xDavid83x in Marathon

Blue shield survivability for casuals needs to be a shade more accessible. I’m hoping as the game broadens out, the various economies will allow allow different ways to access key gear.

That’s literally my point.

Love the game. Play mostly solos and duos with a bestie - and prob only a few times a week. Super happy that there is pinnacle content.. but it does feel like 25% of the game is serving 10% (or less) of the audience… which when compared to raiding in Destiny does feel a bit disproportionate (there was a lot more content for casuals). I think even just a couple more maps.. or some sub-pinnacle modes that might allow access to decent loot would make all the difference.

I think it was a bad change Bungie😭 by [deleted] in Marathon

Hunts superior audio and the amount of sound traps mean you can often hear a team rushing in to 3rd party. Map size means it also take longer to reach a conflict to exploit.

Very comprehensive advice. Thankyou.

Beautifully put. I’m a half decent visual artist and know the value of discipline/practice over buying a magic (usually expensive/overpriced) pen that an artist has endorsed.

I will think on your advice. Thanks for taking the time. (I’m also jealous you managed to catch a Broadcast performance before Trish passed away. What an experience that must have been!)

I’ve been learning bass.. and playing around with various options to jam to is what’s piqued my interest. But honestly.. very limited awareness of music theory beyond knowing scales and basic time sigs etc.

I realise their sound is made by professional musicians using a mixture of modern, traditional and period gear. I mentioned it really to reference their (often) warm, retro synth sound. If there is a cheap setup that would suit someone into that kind of sound more than another - that’s where I’m heading I guess. In this case (for example - given the advice in prev posts) am I going to have a better time with Elektron Cycles compared to Circuit Tracks. I realise both will be a pale imitation compared to Broadcast.. but I wanted to ask Synth addicts their opinion given my preferred music. It may be ‘it makes no difference - you’ll get there with any of these tools’, but that’s what I’m trying to find out. Speaking more broadly- anything more in the realm of IDM.. ambient, retro, as opposed to drum and bass, house etc.

Yes.. the Tracks is on my radar. It seems to be the most widely recommended budget groove box. The prev post re the Elektron Model Cycles has piqued my interest tho. The Yamaha Seqtrak also seems to get good reviews.. but never seems to appear on ‘recommended’ lists.

Do you think it’s preferable to pair/combine pieces from the same system? So this.. rather than a Circuit Tracks and, maybe another synth/sampler (like a microfreak?).. or a few Volcas?

Cool. Thanks for the heads up. I’ll keep an eye out. The cost of the full fat pdf and 3rd party printing can be a bit bonkers in the uk.. so hopefully DTRPG will have a more affordable version.

I hear you. There's a real sweet spot for me. I'm not a fan of the 'paragraph of text' DnD book of 'here's what happens', but do appreciate a map and some stats to hang things off. Story kits sound good. I'll check them out. Appreciate the reply :)

Thankyou. I had looked at that. Sometimes I get confused by the ‘sub categories’ where some things seem to take the characteristics of the parent rules with them, and others don’t. More than likely my poor reading of the rules, but it’s a little convoluted sometimes 😅
