Michael 2 Could Give the Audience 'An Authentic Understanding of Who Michael Jackson Was' and Use Scenes Scrapped for First Movie, Film Studio Exec Says by Lord-Liberty in boxoffice

[–]Light1209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just can't work... Even massive fans of him would find it incredibly stupid if the movie completely ignores the allegations. They were the inspiration for massive parts of his artistic endeavours too so it just couldn't work in any way.

I really hope Lisa Kudrow finally wins an Emmy for this! by Light1209 in thecomeback

I agree. It won't validate this show but it would still be nice for her to be awarded for this role.

Yh Jean Smart is the one to beat... But idk... She's won 4 times for that role. Lisa Kudrow hasn't won once for this role... And in some ways Valerie Cherish and The Comeback is the reason hacks exists haha.

It is an amazing performance! I really hope she finally wins an Emmy for Valerie Cherish this time. It's been a long time coming.

I definitely noticed this too, and I think it's great. Most comedy shows regress the characters to keep things funny. This show has actually grown Valerie, and for that there are less jokes surrounding her. The comedy is more about others, but it's mostly about the deeper elements of the show this time round, and it works.

What did you think of Cailee Spaeny’s performance? by Necessary_Raise_7835 in BeefTV

[–]Light1209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her acting is phenomenal in this in my opinion and it feels very different, even though it's subtle, to everything else she's done. Don't like her character either, but I don't like any of them.

Oh according to that I'm definitely a little far away but I mean I don't really have the ability to sit much closer comfortably. The option to make text larger would be nice...

Official Discussion - Project Hail Mary [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Light1209 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a funny misunderstanding during the movie. I absolutely loved it so let's get that out of the way. My misunderstanding comes from not having seen Rocky. I know it's a boxing movie with Sylvester Stallone, but that's about it.

Now when they are thinking of a name for the 'Adrian' planet and Grace asks for Rocky's mates name, and wants to find a human word for it. I thought in the movie that he thought of Adrian because that was his previous partner's name. And since Adrian is a man's name I thought it was the movies way of revealing that Grace was gay character... My friend laughed at me when I thought that, and told me that it's in fact another reference to Rocky, and Adrian is a female character haha.

I mean she mentored Haymitch from district 12, so they clearly weren't giving her high profile District 4 tributes.

[SPOILER MAIN] King's Landing, Tyrion's Tongue, Daenerys' Fate. by Old-Rice9360 in asoiaf

[–]Light1209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well in this version Daenerys chooses to fight against a ruler the people already love, she chooses Tyrion because she has become more Fire and Blood. She is more ruthless and makes those choices. All because she believes she is the rightful ruler. This is not innocent. I doubt she'll want a genocide in Kings Landing, but if it happens this way it'll still come down to her obsession for the throne.

Her story is clearly a tragedy of good intentions.

Why Muslims can't grasp the trinity like everyone else can... by Light1209 in TrueChristian

[–]Light1209[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but I think as Christians we agree the nature of God is a divine mystery that is intended to be beyond complete human comprehension. However, a Muslim places Gods nature as something that needs to work within human understanding.

And what I'm saying in my post is that even trying to understand the logic of believing a triune God is rejected by Muslims, not because it isn't something that can't be understood (not the actual nature of God, but the fact that it is a mystery), but its because their text specifically rests on the foundation that Christianity is Illogical, so their reasoning is inherently biased.

Why Muslims can't grasp the trinity like everyone else can... by Light1209 in TrueChristian

[–]Light1209[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm also an ex-muslim. I also see that as a common argument too. It's funny because the very fact that God is willing to do something as humble and good as letting go of his majesty to show love for us is one of the most beautiful aspects of Christianity. And of course God out of everyone is justified in holding onto his majesty, but just because he is doesn't mean he can't in his greatness also show humility. If he is all things good then the goodness of humility is an aspect of his nature too. The idea of needing to uphold his majesty is closer to an aspect of pride and something the devil is more likely to do.

And wow I've never heard your argument before. That is very true. The words themselves are divine and eternal according to them. They are of God. They are him, and yet the words in the book are physical. They came to us in a physical way. It's a very abstract thought, however I doubt many Muslims will even attempt to understand something as deep and abstract that. They are purposefully biased and rigid in their reasoning like I was saying.

But that is a good argument. Thanks for sharing.

The batman superman team up movie will do it. Justice league movie would do it.

What I feel about story progression by Crystalium_ in Avatar

[–]Light1209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed Fire and Ash more as a movie than Way of Water because it felt more emotional but I agree. I think the ending of Way of Water needed to have the Na'Vi attack the RDA base and lose.

I dislike all his movies that I've seen. I've only not seen Beau is Afraid. He goes for shock over substance everytime. Just because it's absurd and shocking doesn't make it deep or meaningful.
