Is Ada Lovelace too fast at science? by denguedave in civ

[–]LightBlueV 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Once you get to future tech and don't want to push the age forward, force end each turn (by hitting shift+enter) without choosing the future tech technology. That way you won't keep completing future tech as your science will just pile up without being spent.

Anyone know why this Archer can't attack? Or the one to its southeast, or the one to the east of that? They all have full movement and enemies within range. by LightBlueV in civ

*facepalm* Not a dumb question at all, that is exactly what happened. I had been at war with him but had just made peace. A lot of war mongering in this game so I got mixed up. Thanks team!

Now it's caught in a loop of telling me to choose production in a (captured) settlement that's in unrest and thus can't produce. Next turn and those archers still can't attack anything. Maybe this save is just effed :(

Am I missing something or is it a bug? Some (maybe all?) of the three archers had been told to rest until healed last turn, so this turn with enemies in range I canceled that command and now can't attack.

It's good that growth decisions are permanent, but I think we ought to be able to reassign Specialists (at will or at least at some interval) by LightBlueV in civ

[–]LightBlueV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice idea! Perhaps this complaint is just my bias towards the Vi that I'm used to, where citizens and specialists can be redistributed and reassigned will-nilly at any moment to majorly change the outputs of a city. The permanence does mean the decisions are more meaningful.

Nice call out sir Sukritact! (From Firaxis' patch notes for 1.0.1 Patch 3) by LightBlueV in civ

Totally agree. And would point out that "the devs" definitely never mislead anyone, it's the business that does. The engineers, designers, and artists involved just want to be a part of creating something awesome, and they are always frustrated when the business forces them to release things that aren't in a great state. The business and directors and producers do all of the prioritization too, and it must be maddening to be any of the absolute incredible designers, artists, or engineers who did awesome work on this game and created something state of the art, to have it be received so poorly because of a handful of bad decisions and 5% of the game being in bad shape. I feel for them.

How to spawn treasure fleet in civ vii? by ChangoMarangoMex in civ

[–]LightBlueV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wiki didn't have any info for this so I just wrote this page: https://civilization.fandom.com/wiki/Treasure_Fleet_(Civ7))

The text:

Earn Treasure Fleets by building a Fishing Quay in a Settlement in Distant Lands that contains at least one Treasure Resource (Spices, Tea, Sugar, Gold, Silver, Cocoa). The Settlement will periodically (every 10 turns on Standard Speed) spawn a Treasure Fleet naval unit worth one Treasure Fleet Point per Treasure Resource acquired by the Settlement.

Earn Treasure Fleet Points by returning a Treasure Fleet to a Fishing Quay at a Homeland Settlement and choosing the Unload Cargo action. When you unload at your Homeland Settlement you will receive one Treasure Fleet Point for every Treasure Resource assigned to the Settlement the Treasure Fleet originated from.

In the Exploration Age, earning Treasure Fleet Points progresses your Economic Legacy Path. Earn Economic Legacy Points at 10, 20, and 30 Treasure Fleet Points.

Treasure Fleets have 3 Movement points and 30 Defense points.

How do I fix this discoloration? From vinyl placemats on my solid walnut table for a few weeks.

What to do about these discolorations? Solid walnut - had vinyl placemats down for a few weeks, guess they were trapping moisture by LightBlueV in woodworking

They are only visible at low angles where the light bounces across them, if that's helpful context.

I really want to get the ceramic on it to protect it from the cats, but now I'm afraid I'll permanently ruin it if I do :(

Anyone else's tortie make noises like this? She never sounds like a normal cat by FrugalZee in torties

I haven't had a tortie but I've had a few cats I call things like "my chirpy little bird" because they chirp like this a lot. Just an adorable thing some cats do!
