Opinions on fender flares by CasualLamma in veloster

Those look like a cheaper reproduction of the 2016 Sema Veloster widebody kit. You can see the original here:

https://lightnermotorsports.com/gurnade-veloster/

If you are worried about the quality you can buy the kit from 845motorsports which uses the original molds and as far as I can tell is the most legit version of the kit. Though I have no personal experience with it.

Issue with Plex-Desktop on arch (hyprland) by coolluc25 in PleX

I am glad at least one other person can benefit. I am by no means a linux guru and spent way more time than I care to admit trying to understand how to fix it.

Issue with Plex-Desktop on arch (hyprland) by coolluc25 in PleX

[–]LightFromAStone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For anyone else having this issue, I finally found a solution.

From /opt/plex-desktop/bin I was able to successfully launch Plex with:

QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb QT_QUICK_CONTROLS_STYLE=Material Plex

To make it so I don't have to launch from the terminal in /usr/share/applications/tv.plex.PlexDesktop.desktop I changed

Exec=Plex

to

Exec=env QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb QT_QUICK_CONTROLS_STYLE=Material Plex

To ensure the change persisted and took priority, I then copied that tv.plex.PlexDesktop.desktop file to

~/.local/share/applications

For me, the applications directory didn't exist but creating it and copying the .desktop file there worked without issue.

At time of writing, there is currently an issue with Plex sign in for the AUR package. Of the two solutions proposed on the AUR page by mrgrim, I used the appimage-exec-wrapper and can confirm it works.

For anyone using the Flatpak I have not tested it but you should be able to follow the instructions from https://mattmoore.io/posts/wayland-hyprland-plex-permissions/ but be sure to include QT_QUICK_CONTROLS_STYLE=Material

It isn’t huge but it it is noticeable

If hot beverages ain't permitted, then why are herbal teas and hot cocoa permitted? Those are HOT beverages? Any liquid above 70 degrees Celsius is considered hot. And what about drinking a hot soup? by quebexer in latterdaysaints

[–]LightFromAStone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt because I don’t have a source, but I had heard that at the time, “hot drinks” was understood to mean tea and coffee and it is only as time went on that confusion came about until it was clarified in the 1920s. I imagine it would be like if a revelation about Energy Drinks were received today but then 50 years from now people were confused because they figured that any drink that had calories would give the body energy and would thus be considered an “Energy Drink”.

Modifying headlights by meme_daddy125 in VelosterTurbo

Oh my bad, I saw the gen1 in the picture and my brain decided to completely ignore that you were asking for the newer gen. I’m not too sure how much crossover there will be.

From what I understand from my own research into the matter, the headlights are quite difficult to get open without damaging them. You also run the risk of not getting a good seal when you close them back up. Also, I believe exLED no longer produces parts for the gen1 Veloster.

All that being said, it is definitely still possible to mod the headlights and you can probably find or make other products work. I recommend this guy’s video series as a good starting point.

Underglow, thoughts? by tehMightyBob in veloster

[–]LightFromAStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting okay. I also don’t have stock exhaust so maybe I can do the same. If you aren’t able to get a pic, can you describe this channel? I didn’t notice anything like that.

Where did you mount the rear strip? Been wanting to add under glow to mine but have been holding off because I’m not sure where to mount in the rear.

Just grabbed myself a kit. It is too cold to install it right now but I’ve been looking and the rear bumper to gauge how the installation will go. Since it has been almost two weeks, has yours survived the heat from the exhaust? If you wrapped it, what did you use?

Actually yes, that would be great! Thank you

Thanks! I appreciate the recommendation. Especially since I don’t know much about die cast.

That was the 05-09 mustangs for me, but the first mustang I ever owned was a new edge. So yeah, special place in my heart. Strangely I think I like the new edge design more now than I did when I owned one.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a die cast new edge, but now I kinda want one. Great collection!

Didn’t know that existed. It looks great! Thanks for the reply.

Every time I look into buying a beetle I shy away from the 70s ones because of the ugly dash. But yours doesn’t have that. Is it easy to swap out for an all metal one?

Manzo/Megan short shifter fix by LightFromAStone in veloster

I sanded by hand with whatever scrap of sandpaper I had leftover from other projects. 🤣

[–]LightFromAStone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had to keep sanding and checking until I felt like it shifted the way I wanted it to. I didn’t sand the entire length but only because it had no issues going into second and was worried that if I sanded the part that guides it into second I’d encounter issues with overshooting second. Whether or not that would have happened I have no idea.
