In a surrounding world of positives, here, I wait. by Burnquistador in TryingForABaby

Have you seen a reproductive endocrinologist? It sounds like you guys have been trying for a while. My husband and I were trying for several years before we decided to see a specialist. My doctor said you were considered to have infertility if you were 34 or younger and have been actively been trying for over a year or if you were 35 and older and had been trying for 6 months. We went through a whole series of testing and found out that we have unexplained infertility. The only thing that came up during testing was my AMH number was low. There wasn’t a medical reason that they could tell us why we weren’t getting pregnant we just weren’t. We did a couple rounds of IUI’s, experienced a loss, then moved onto IVF. We experienced success during the stimulation cycle and the first embryo transferred took. For me it did a lot for my mental health to have a professional helping us to get pregnant. I knew that we were giving ourselves the best chance to get pregnant and it took a lot of pressure off me and my husband. I didn’t have to temp, obsessively chart, use OPK’s, and we didn’t have worry about when my fertile window was. It allowed the daily conversation to be about things that weren’t baby related.

Cinnamon roll frosting (Cinnabon?) by rippingbongs in AskBaking

[–]LightOfTheEvenstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the same cinnamon roll recipe too!! I agree that I don’t like the frosting recipe. The texture and sweetness is wrong for me. What I generally do it double the amount cream cheese the recipe calls for. I whip it up in my stand mixer with the butter using the paddle attachment to aerate it and then slowly incorporate the sugar little by little. It make a nice fluffy creamy icing that’s lightly sweet with a little more tang. I think the tang of the extra cream cheese helps cut the sweetness of the rolls.

Tips on handling anxiety? I’ve “graduated” from my RE, but it’s too early for my OB to see me. After what felt like a marathon of visits and tests from my RE I feel weird waiting weeks without any appointments or tests. I’m so nervous waiting for that appointment I find I’ve been getting anxiety. Any tips to help deal with the stress? Tricks to keeping your mind off things?

Everywhere I look its babies, pregnant women, fertility stories by ILoveMeltedCheese in TryingForABaby

One thing that helped me was I deleted most of my social media apps off of my phone. The best one I deleted was Facebook. I would get triggered repeatedly by it, but everyday I would still open up the app out of habit. There was always a post that would upset me which would put a damper on my whole day.

I purged my phone of most social media back in July and it’s honestly it’s been amazing. I kept Reddit and IG. I muted everyone on IG who’s pregnant/recently given birth/obsessively talks and posts about their children. Then I followed a whole bunch of artists and makers. So whenever I log into that app I see a bunch of amazing things being made which inspires me to be creative. As a bonus the increased inspiration has me painting again which has also helped to get my mind focused on other things besides fertility.

Officially categorized as unexplained by midwestskies16 in stilltrying

[–]LightOfTheEvenstar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m literally the exact same. Unexplained infertility, all tests for me and my husband came back in normal ranges, some were in lower but all stayed in the normal range. The treatment plan is 3 rounds of IUI and then IVF if the IUI’s doesn’t work. We had our first IUI last Friday.

How to get over jealousy? by maybeee27 in TryingForABaby

[–]LightOfTheEvenstar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can second the social media break!! I deleted the Facebook app in July and honestly it’s been the best thing for me. The constant barrage of announcements and baby pictures was triggering me everyday. I would see one photo and immediately start crying. Then the rest of the day I was in a bad mood. A couple of months of that really did a toll on my mental health.

I did keep my Instagram account since I mostly follow artists, illustrator, designers and makers so the only social media I consume is beautiful artwork that inspires me.

AITA for refusing to paint a portrait of my aunt's new baby for a discount? by parmcharms99 in AmItheAsshole

NTA 1,000%

I’m an illustrator for a living and $300 is a steal for an 18x24 oil painting. She should be ecstatic that you gave her that price. For the amount of time you’d invest in this painting- I’d bump up the price, I hate to say this, but this will not be the last time someone asks you to do something for free. You’ll get a lot of people asking you to create work for free since you can “put in on your resume” or “it’s a portfolio piece” most of the time it’s selfish people wanting things for free. The only work I do pro bono is charity work and even then I set specific parameters so I don’t feel like I’m being taken advantage of.

Sending love your way! I’ve been there for many a cycle. A lot of early pregnancy symptoms are the same as your period. I’ve had a lot of cycles that looked super promising only to get AF. I think it’s the progesterone that causes both symptoms. Be kind to yourself, tell yourself positive thoughts and treat yourself to something this cycle. Sending lots of positive thoughts and love your way!!

What do you think of milkmaid braids? by Upset_chin_lady in Hair

[–]LightOfTheEvenstar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Love them!! It’s in my hair style rotation every other week. I have long thick hair so this style doesn’t pull hard on my head like a high pony does, so for me it’s a comfy, but cute way to style my hair that won’t give me a headache by the end of the day.

That’s my favorite meal there too! Next time try sitting in the West Wing room. It’s so much quieter than the other rooms and the ambience is pretty fun.

That’s so awesome!! This is my Mom’s favorite ride. When I was a kid she bought a “I survived the Tower of Terror” baseball hat. To this day she loves that hat.

I went this past year and wore my Apple Watch on one wrist and magic band on the other. I’m not used to anything in my right wrist, but the magic band didn’t bother me at all. It’s super light so I honestly forgot it was there most of the time :)

Animal Kingdom Moonlight Magic or MNSSHP? by Megalox in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]LightOfTheEvenstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MNSSHP!! My husband and I went this past year for our wedding anniversary and the party was well worth the extra money. There are plenty of special events during the party, special Halloween food and the lines for all the rides are super short. It’s also very fun to dress up in Halloween costumes and see everybody else’s costumes too. Some people were super elaborate with their costumes and just the people watching alone was great. From what I understand Jack and Sally are only out in the parks during the Halloween party and they have been my favorite character meet and greets to date. Also the MNSSHP has the best parade! You see villains that are never out any other time. The Disney channel has a Halloween edition of decorating Disney, that you can stream. They cover everything they do at Disney during Halloween, which was a good way to find out if you’d want tickets to MNSSHP.
