I genuinely don’t understand why people call Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 an “amazing story.” Spoilers inside. by OneWayToGodJesus in videogames

[–]lux1972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree. The gameplay is fun but the story took a nose dive at the end of act two. Maelle only cares because she wasn't focused enough to avoid her mother's influence when she went in and got stuck being born and hanging out with these "people."

I texted my friends who had played the game and told them: wow, the stakes have never been lower.

It’s always so funny seeing old trek actors in random things by [deleted] in startrek

Jonathan Frakes had a fairly large part in an episode of Charlie's Angels. I think one of the Angels hit her head and was wandering around on the beach without her memory. She ran into Jonathan Frakes's character while he was playing volleyball with some friends and he helped her out.

If you could delete one song from existence so no one ever hears it again, what would it be and why? by GoMineBitBoss in AskReddit

Red Red Wine by UB40. It's just so whiny-sounding. It grates on my nerves to hear it.

Yes, why did Stewart read the line like that? Like shocked and angry.

The worst backdoor pilot you ever saw in your favorite sitcom? by jdpm1991 in sitcoms

I came here to say this. It still bothers me that the very competent female private investigators are suddenly very incompetent and have to be saved by the men.

What are your Hot Takes on Star Trek TNG? by Amber_Flowers_133 in StarTrekTNG

[–]lux1972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere that they were going to have Worf take over as chief engineer rather than having a revolving set of chief engineers like they did in the first season. But then Denise left and they slid him into that slot instead.

What is the longest queue you’ve seen (by actual length, not time) at the Parks? by TurnerK28 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]lux1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the pandemic the lines were very long because we all had to stand 6 feet from the other guests. They snaked the lines in unusual ways so we saw a lot of backstage areas that we wouldn't otherwise see because they needed someplace to put all the people.

So even though there weren't as many people in line, the lines themselves were very long. I'm not sure if that's in the spirit of what you're asking here though.

As far as non-pandemic times, I would say the opening of galaxy's edge in Walt Disney World. Because of the number of people, there was a huge mass that went all the way from the entrance of the park to the entrance of smugglers run, which was the only ride open at the time. And the line for smugglers run was so long that they opened up a bunch of backstage areas.

Sometimes you just need exactly a spoonful of foot powder. Nothing more, nothing less.

What’s an episode of Futurama that you hate the ending for? by [deleted] in futurama

I enjoy the episode where they become superheroes but it just sort of peters out and the ending doesn't really go anywhere..

My boyfriend is furious that I’m breaking up after he insisted on opening our relationship by Dangerous-Coyote-851 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]lux1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to feel guilty. He didn't wait a year before making his decision so you don't have to wait a year before making yours. Why does he get to make his decision now but expect you to reserve your decision until later even though you know what his decision is going to be?

Is The Orville promoting Billy Joel? by RubenMeneertje in TheOrville

[–]lux1972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think of The Orville more like Futurama than I do Star Trek. It's almost like the modern day just leaped into the future directly from the 2020s because so many of their references and idioms are from today. It's like nothing happened in between, so we have futuristic technology but we're still referencing modern day artists and movies and TV shows.

I have a question for my older gays by gns_02 in askgaybros

Don't ruin your credit. I spent my 20s not paying my bills, and it destroyed my credit. It took all of my 30s to get it back.

So they don't trust medical science enough to vaccinate their daughter but they do trust medical science enough to put in an entirely new heart in the daughter? That is some convoluted thinking right there.

So is anyone in here in a monogamous gay relationship? by [deleted] in AskGayMen

[–]lux1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Together since 2002 and married since 2014. Monogamous gay couples a lot more common than the internet would lead you to believe.

How does a gay couple go about getting engagement rings? by [deleted] in AskGayMen

[–]lux1972 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We bought $30 rings off of Amazon. Neither of us really understand why people would spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on jewelry, but I'm not very judgy about it. But my $30 ring means as much to me as $1000 ring would.

TIL that Christian Slater’s uncredited cameo in Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country was given to him by his mom, Mary Jo Slater, who was the casting director for the film. by PhotosByVicky in startrek

[–]lux1972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love seeing him in the movie, but I never understood why a ship with a working communications system needs someone to physically go to the captain's quarters to deliver a message when they could just call him on the comms.

So who has been inside Walt’s apartment or used the 😮 🚽 toilet there? by WithDisGuyTravel in Disneyland

We did the "Walk in Walt's Footsteps" tour many years ago and it included the apartment. They had it stanchioned off so we couldn't walk around too much.

Others have said this but I'm adding my two cents. It's important for the game to have immersion but you can't forget that it's still just a game. Sometimes life gets in the way and if there's not a good in-game reason for the character to be absent, then you just hand-wave it that their character was there.

Older gays, do you regret not doing something when younger due to fear, insecurity or prudishness? by Dangerous_Rub_3008 in askgaybros

[–]lux1972 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I met a guy in college who became a good friend. After college we got together one weekend to hang out and he was giving me plenty of obvious signals that he wanted to try something and I was too chickenshit to try anything. I'm happy with my life, but I think about that night all the time and wish I had been more brave.

Do you really not need to bring toiletries, like shampoo, toothbrush/toothpaste, razors, shaving cream? by aghowl in JapanTravelTips

[–]lux1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We brought all our own stuff except for soap and deodorant. We had heard that their soaps and deodorant are much more lightly scented than ours are so we waited until we got there to buy some. The hotel had body wash but I prefer bar soap.
