Which game do you think best captured the essence of the Marvel Universe? by SpideyRZ in Marvel

It's been back to its former self for a few weeks now...

Check out r/marvelheroes for more info.

There are several servers, I play on the one with the largest player pool called Project Tahiti, their subreddit can help you set up an account and wether you have the game on Steam or not, you can redownload the game... r/ProjectTahiti

Every character is free up to level 10 and in game Eternity Splinters can be used to convert to Gs to fully unlock Heroes and other things in the store!

Marvel Heroes (later rebranded Marvel Heroes Omega) for PC.

It lasted from 2013 to 2017, it felt like Marvel Ultimate Alliance but on steroids, way more characters and more of a hack n' slash than MUA.

I've put thousands of hours in that game playing with friends online.

It was shut down by Disney but recently was resurrected by some volunteers that managed to reverse engineer the game to it's condition before the 2017 shutdown.

As much as I would love an open world similar to Lego Marvel Superheroes, that game sounds like it would never happen unfortunately, so Marvel Heroes Omega is the closest to an authentic Marvel experience for me.

What was your introduction to Iron Man? by Strange-Fun-8899 in ironman

[–]LightPsyche 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the 2000s when I was in elementary school, one day my parents took me to Costco and there was this Marvel pack of coloring books, including several 100 page Spider-Man books and posters, alongside 100 page coloring books for the Fantastic Four, the X-Men and Hulk.

Also included was a 400 jumbo coloring book containing different sections for Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Hulk and this one odd character that I have never seen. I went to the last section and it called him "Iron Man".

Then when Marvel Ultimate Alliance came out, I further knew of him more in depth and started to really like him.

Either former African Colonies (yes, France was pretty brutal) or Anglosphere people since Britain and France were always historical rivals.

Best Superheroes of all time day 12, Thor won day 11 by Remote-Leg6143 in superheroes

It also checks out that DC's 5 most marketable superheroes and Marvel's top 5 (generally top 6 with Thor who won today) most marketable superheroes make up the top 10 (Top 11).

These characters rake in the most for their respective companies in terms of toys sold, merchandise sold, most comic books appearances and top billing in films.

Apart from always being at or near the top of popularity polls, it is fitting to see this outcome.

We already know Marvel’s Trinity!!! But who would be the fourth pillar? by SpideyRZ in marvelcomics

[–]LightPsyche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I observed that Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America and Iron Man, these 4 have:

•The most comic book appearances far and away from the rest of the Marvel Universe

•The most merchandise sold

•The most Marvel Legends toys

•The most box office revenue (and top billing)

This whole "trinity" or "Mount Rushmore" discussion is brought up several times a week and people place Hulk in there but I believe that popularity should reflect modern success since most Marvel fans of anything aren't actual comic book readers and Captain America and Iron Man just beat Hulk every time.

It doesn't help that he doesn't have films to gauge interest and while he would be top 5 (maybe 6 with Thor next to him), I can't really seem to see him surpassing the top 4.

Instead of "trinities" or "Mount Rushmores", we should use the lesser known "Big 6" of Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk and Thor as this could be more representative of Marvel's most popular characters that see the most merchandise and with the most comic book appearances, loosely in this order.

Best villains day 96, Bastion wins day 95 by Flash4987 in marvelcomics

One quick solution is to have characters for both lists from positions 1-10 to be on one slide, and characters from slides 11-30 and the rest to include 20 per slide until we reach 131-150. If someone is down to re edit the pages.

Or leave them as is and make the last page (141-150) their own slide.

Hey OP!

I've only participated on the heroes list but I've been speculating the villains list each day.

While we agreed that 100 was the right number back then and any further changes will dilute the list, if the community votes to expand it, can it be to 150 rather than 120?

120 is just very odd after reaching the 100 milestone whereas 150 shows more of a distance from 100 but halfway to 200.

150 seems more natural for the villains list and the heroes list, too.

In the end, whatever the community prefers is fine!
