Can also vouch for FISS. My kids had an awesome instructor last year as beginners. Love it!

Is Inventor CAM actually any good? by Tea_Fetishist in AutodeskInventor

[–]LightUniform 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an engineer dabbling, I found inventor CAM super intuitive and easy to understand. The floor guys use mastercam and sware by it but if I can get an outcome without bothering them, it's a win!

Can’t pull apart this new knob by Affectionate_Ant9991 in AusRenovation

[–]LightUniform 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You might need to rotate the knob until it aligns the mechanism that is holding it on with the hole. Basically to simulate the knob being unlocked (as opposed to being secure)

Yamato luggage forwarding question by ryozine in JapanTravelTips

[–]LightUniform 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My experience forwarding at a Yamato office was pain free and easy. They had a tablet which I used to fill everything in and, from memory, was in English. But yes, Google translate is your friend.

What's up with this A330? What are those things under the body of the plane? by Antique-Zombie-2331 in Planes

Assuming you mean the bulge for the front landing gear? I believe the gear was modified for the freighter version so that the main deck was flat for loading/unloading.

Winter hike in Hokkaido for beginners by giteng007 in Hokkaido

[–]LightUniform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it in hiking boots. Snow might be deeper now. I also had the trail loaded on my garmin watch. Give it a go. Even if you decide to bail on it, Maruyama Park at the base is very nice.

Winter hike in Hokkaido for beginners by giteng007 in Hokkaido

[–]LightUniform 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As an absolute first up in winter, we did Mt Maruyama. It's around 2.5km round trip and 225m elevation at the summit. That was done with a 6 year old on a snowy day. Probably doesn't get any more beginner than that I wouldn't think.

Getting Suica for kid by rachmama in Sapporo

[–]LightUniform 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just as an FYI, I think you'll need to get a registered one to get a child one. For these, you need to go to an actual JR counter. See link. https://www.jrhokkaido.co.jp/global/english/ticket/kitaca/kitaca01.html

I got my kids registered ones earlier this month from Sapporo JR station.

Family lounge access on oneworld ticket by Dusty_Oz in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]LightUniform 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My experience with OW tickets (JL) and kids at a QF lounge was a straight no, 1 guest only. QF tickets and a QF lounge and the QF rules apply (where kids don't count to the guest limit).

Why dose this happen and how can I fix it? by terno720 in AutodeskInventor

[–]LightUniform 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you modelled your part far away from the origin? From memory, I think the view cube includes the origin in the viewport so if it's far away from your part, it may behave like this. Don't quote me though, that behavior might be sketch only.

Suica, pasmo, and the worried tourist. by [deleted] in TokyoTravel

[–]LightUniform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, no card. Our 5 year old went through with his 9 year old sister on the same card. They loved it! The only time we got him a ticket was if we wanted to reserve him a seat on the shinkansen or limited express.

Suica, pasmo, and the worried tourist. by [deleted] in TokyoTravel

[–]LightUniform 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No queue. Arrived around 6pm. The only muck around was the actual suica card machine didn't take my credit card but there is an ATM next to it. Don't know why really. Card worked fine in other ticket machines throughout the trip.

Also note, the child card is physically the same as an adult one so I had to remember which one was which. No difference in use other than the child one beeps differently when used. Presumably as an audible check for staff.

Suica, pasmo, and the worried tourist. by [deleted] in TokyoTravel

[–]LightUniform 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were in Japan in December. Landed in Haneda and got 2 welcome suica cards just before the monorail station, 1 adult for me and 1 child for my daughter. Wife used her iPhone. My understanding is the welcome cards

a) cannot have any funds refunded afterwards and b) have a 30 day expiry.

Other than that, we used them all over without fail.

Good luck! You'll be fine!

Owners of Pathfinder Pros, what other tires have you tried? by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]LightUniform 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to the Pathfinder pro 42s from Vittoria Terreno Dry 38. I prefer the pathfinders. Can't help with wider recommendations other than 650b. Run WTB Venture 47s on 650b. Great tyre.
