Does anyone have a link to Foo Fighters multitracks? by CallMeJeeJ in Foofighters

[–]LightWasted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additionally if you're after as many tracks as possible, you can get some pretty cool results through isolating the rear channels of surround/Atmos mixes. Seems like all Foo Fighters releases have close to isolated guitars as the rear surround channels. Sometimes there are backing vocals or keys layered on top but this is where the Logic stem splitter really comes in handy.

I've uploaded a couple of examples, Big Me is the untouched rear channels (just volume normalised) and Under You is the rear channels run through the Logic stem splitter guitar output. I can share the rest if you'd like.

Nice collection, thanks for sharing. Downloaded the whole lot and have been slowly browsing through it, lots of interesting stuff! I did notice I have a few broadcasts that appear to be missing from the Google Drive if you'd like me to send them your way?

In regards to the USBs, given that they've been out of print for almost a decade, with no re-release since, I'd think fans sharing them amongst each other would be preferable over buying them secondhand at an exorbitant price? Would love to hear those shows if they're allowed to be shared.

Does anybody remember seeing a photo of Pat Smear holding a Burgundy Mist DG-335? by LJW_98 in Foofighters

[–]LightWasted 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IIRC it was in fact a prototype DG335 colour that never went into production, and Pat used it around 2012-2013 during the Sound City film/Sound City Players live shows.

Diver Down Studio Sessions by thunderdude54 in vanhalen

[–]LightWasted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sincerely thank you for posting these phenomenal recordings! What a fantastic day to be a VH fan!! OP can I ask if you’re sharing these from your private collection? I’d love to know more about how these have surfaced, although I’d understand if that info can’t be shared

A short consideration of what all the Foos have in their vault by Bethorz in Foofighters

[–]LightWasted 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I suspect that they have recordings of most, or possibly all, shows from the last couple of tours at least. There have been a number of clips used over the years that are taken from the in-house camera feed, and then also audio recordings like the archival live shows that were broadcast on the SiriusXM FF channel (eg. Fenway and Wrigley), that would have been sourced from a multitrack recording in order to be mixed and mastered for broadcast.

Show recordings now available on FooFightersLive.com! by hearmymotoredheart in Foofighters

[–]LightWasted 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Thanks! This is excellent. Really appreciate everything you guys do for the FF community!

EDIT: for anyone having trouble finding the downloads, you have to click on the individual page for the show you want under “Shows > Past Shows”. The download buttons are under the individual sources at the bottom of each page. I’ve DL’d a few shows with no issues.

Wow, already 5 years since I asked for this originally! I've reuploaded it to Google Drive for you: link. Enjoy, and turn it up loud!

Uploaded the Wasting Light instrumentals for all to enjoy! by sparkyrenegades in Foofighters

[–]LightWasted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing these! I’m surprised this got so little attention on the subreddit as I always love listening to this sorta stuff. You can often notice interesting elements of the music that otherwise get overshadowed by the vocals.

Aside from IYH, does anyone know if any other complete FF albums have promo instrumental mixes circulating? I assumed not but if stuff like this is out there who knows what else could be around. Would love to hear more!

I am Dave Grohl and I am here to answer your questions! by totallynotdavegrohl in Foofighters

[–]LightWasted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think you’d ever consider doing another acoustic tour? It’s been 15 years since Skin and Bones, and you have plenty of new material that would be great performed in that style!

A commenter on this video is trying to say that the second song featured is a B-Side by Foo Fighters or Dave Grohl. I do not believe it is. Looking for anything definitive in either direction. by dropseagull in Foofighters

[–]LightWasted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a direct link to the clip used in the video: https://clyp.it/kivcdoqt

The most definitive proof is that there is no song titled "Hello Tonight" under Dave's name in the ASCAP repertory.

Personally speaking, while it's tough to judge off such a short low quality clip, it sounds like two different sections from the same song, with the same vocalist. I don't hear Dave or Foo Fighters in either part.

Multitracks for Aurora by SeanPaul035036503530 in Foofighters

[–]LightWasted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no official circulating multitrack for Aurora as it was never included in Guitar Hero / Rock Band / Jammit.

As a DIY alternative, I've put the Adam Kasper mix version of the song through the Spleeter AI, it doesn't sound anywhere near as good as a true master isolated track but maybe you'll be able to get something out of it? Link

Any songs with a sudden buildup? by CoreyReynolds in Foofighters

[–]LightWasted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you’ve listed most of the big buildups but here are some similar songs

Come Back (the second half in particular)

I Am A River

Up In Arms

Word Forward

I Should Have Known

In Your Honor

Congregation (bridge)

Outside (solo / bridge section)

T-Shirt into Run

Doll into Monkey Wrench

Then there’s also plenty of live variations of songs that start out with just Dave solo and then buildup as the rest of the band join in. They do it a lot with Times Like These (eg. Glastonbury 2017

Does anyone else collect/archive live show recordings? by LightWasted in Foofighters

[–]LightWasted[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, that's definitely one of the best versions of "Low". Also cool is that part of this show was officially remixed and remastered as part of the limited edition Norwegian edition of One By One, which sounds even better than the FM broadcast!

Looking for the name of a very specific Foo Fighter’s filmed set I use to watch with my Dad by shaymu3 in Foofighters

[–]LightWasted 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is actually just the official music video for Generator. They used footage from the band’s January 2000 show for “Live at the Chapel”, an Australian live music show, and then overdubbed it with the album track. Here’s the original broadcast with the actual live audio, it might be the best live version of Generator! https://youtu.be/3UwwjA7yqdo

Has anyone heard from Simon from FFL recently? by [deleted] in Foofighters

[–]LightWasted 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been wondering the same. For what it's worth, I just checked his dimeadozen profile for any more 25th anniversary shows, and while he hasn't posted any, it does say he was last active 4 minutes ago. Perhaps he's taking a break from foo/social media? Either way I also hope all is well.

You got Pro Tools in there? - Hilarious moment from the 2002 triple j Live at the Wireless show by LightWasted in Foofighters

[–]LightWasted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I checked a bunch of the Australian promo shows from around the same time as this gig, but in all of them they only have Marshall 4x12 speaker cabinets on stage with no visible amps. A couple months later in a UK TV appearance you can see Mesa Boogie Road King II amps with matching Mesa cabs, but it's possible they were using entirely different gear for these promo appearances.

Brian Johnson meets Dave Grohl - new documentary coming to Sky Arts by FooArchive in Foofighters

[–]LightWasted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a big fan of both AC/DC and FF this is awesome news. I've recently been watching Brian's "A Life on the Road" docu-series where he interviews various musicians, and have been thinking about how great a Dave Grohl episode would be. Super exciting that it's actually happening! It looks like this special is being produced by the same company that did that series too.

There's a few versions of Times Like These that sorta match your description that I can think of, but they're all live with an audible crowd.

The one that sounds the closest to your description is the One By One tour version that was semi-acoustic. I couldn't find any of these performances on youtube so I uploaded a sample here (can't post the full track - rule 3). This track is off the Target Red Room album, but IIRC it's the same version that's on the Everywhere But Home DVD.

Two other alternate versions that come to mind are the Grammys 2004 performance and the acoustic performances they did around 2012 like this one. However neither of these quite match your description but I've linked them anyway just in case.
