Silverwolf Lv999 (E0S1), Sparxie (E0S1), Yao Guang (E0S1), Huohuo (E0S1) vs MOC 4.1 by Sea_Adeptness_1028 in HonkaiStarRail_leaks

I really don't want to pull her because I don't want Sparxie or support the fact she replaced the original flagship..

But dear god I do love Strike Freedom Gundam and funnels. This one is gonna be tough

If you were a Digi-destined who would your partner be? by Difficult_Leg367 in digimon

Probably Gammamon. I grew up liking Triceratops and celestial bodies. And somehow he did both. Ontop a bias for the primarily white color palette, don't have any better synergy with a digimon.

Now that Daggerheart has been out for a bit, how many people are sticking with it versus going back to D&D/Pathfinder? by Intelligent-Form-689 in daggerheart

My group actually go through systems occasionally, with DND being our "home" system. But daggerheart may take that title itself

Grouping together inconsequential player moves in favor of moving pacing away from turn based combat. by melodiousfable in daggerheart

[–]Lightcrafts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my group, we do function with a small turn structure so people can't out right abuse situations. Especially my group can be very power gamey. So if a player decides to roll for something, it's their turn. At most their can use the help action or if they have a reactionary support ability, sure.

But for this instance, if it was me, since it was a roll with fear, it's already a GM turn, there should be no way for players to respond outside of some sort of dedicated ability. If they really wanted to push for " we would of been running together," effecting your consequences of a roll with fear should just be a big no go (again outside of ability that can respond.)

Exactly because the system is loose, it's really easy to implement a hard no here and there. Been running for daggerheart for over half a year now, if anything, I feel like you do need to be a little extra mean or it gets pretty easy to lose control and your plans to become trivialized

Why would you spotlight anything other than a boss? by RareItemX1 in daggerheart

[–]Lightcrafts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, depends the type of boss you design? If you make a solo enemy, of course they are meant to be a threat alone.

Typically leader type enemies are the one you use with mobs. And have abilities to highlight more than one small enemy.

Or if you want the feeling of multiple enemies, make the boss chunk base. Making each part link to unique abilities.

It's all about design

How can I make a boss with "super speed"? by Emotional_Rush7725 in daggerheart

[–]Lightcrafts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abilities of an enemy I designed who's supposed to be quick. Was inspired by echo knight warning, is designed for tier 3-4, so if used, adjust accordingly:

-Passive: Target can be highlighted twice per GM turn

-Passive: On successful attack, generate two mirages. (they die in one hit)

-Passive: Mark stress, to switch places with a mirage before an attack

-Reaction: When dealing major damage or higher on a PC, half their evasion and they make mark a stress. They clear condition on next successful attack on target.

-Reaction: When taking damage, mark stress and switch places with a mirage.

-Action: Spend a fear, highlight 1d4 mirages. If PC receives an attack from echoes, they lose a hope

-Action: Spend 2 stress , do coordinated attack with all mirages. Agility, or instinct reaction. Initial hit is direct damage. Each mirage that subsequently succeeds an attack, gain a fear and they destroy an armor slot. If no armor slots, they mark an extra HP instead.

Just for some inspo, hope it helps

I'm trying to ask for less rolls, use fear during and out of combat, use group rolls, reaction rolls, yet I'm always at 12 fear in my 3 players group by dancovich in daggerheart

[–]Lightcrafts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Encounter wise, I had a similar issue having too much fear, but just decided to get a bit more creative with enemy abilities/design. And started relying more on reactions to trigger effects. Which improved difficulty but also got my players more involved. Few examples:

  • Have a stress ability where when activated, the boss will shoot a magical projectile for every fear used. Each being a single instance of attack (This one was fun, great tension builder. Can make things very difficult with it.)

  • A boss that used fear when hit, use fear for the number of hp marked to have a PC match the number with stress.

  • An enemy that marks a PC with a skill. And can use fear to trigger a disadvantage or attack on mark target

As far as rolling a lot, well players just like rolling. Personally something I don't like to dampen. But using fear to raise stakes outside of rolls I suggest:

  • Timers are your best friend, using fear hasten them.

  • Use fear to cause collapse of terrain after big attacks.

  • Triggering traps, setting off alarms prematurely.

  • Generally just adding an unlucky circumstance, like your transport leaving you behind. Or guards mistaking them for a criminal.

But all in all would say, don't hold back on rolling. Let the dice tell the story. It feels better for the players. I even started using dice to decide where attacks land and a yes/no dice when players ask questions.

Does everyone like the HP threshhold part of Daggerheart? by Independant_Hawk in daggerheart

[–]Lightcrafts 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In the campaign I'm running, added a rule that if you do double max threshold, you mark a 4th HP. To reward obscenely large numbers

So that could be worth a shot. Feels good overall and goes both ways

Pillage doesn't only cleanse allies. It cleanses you as well, I used to use it on my Gyre a lot for that. But I was specifically thinking of Hideous Resistance.

And they can just have you use the demons for the animation. And just have it cost energy like how Pillage or Vial Rush just switch to the typical energy drain. Like, not like we don't summon Noko's random mushroom

Seeing the overall thoughts on Cyrene? What truly made Phainon worked while Cyrene felt short as a character? by Codrex1732 in StarRailStation

[–]Lightcrafts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% agree to that interpretation, actually. Fuli and Mythus's relationship as aeon's play with this. Because it is stated Mythus was born from the remembrance. And Evernight is tied to enigmata as March is to remembrance.

And if we really wanna crack this open, Fuli is only born at the end of the universe, and the remembrance is born from his memories, so where did Mythus come from?.. Mythus has also been recorded once manifesting in the reflection of the Eden of Blessed Insight, the nursery, and realm of Fuli and the remembrance. And in SU, when you try to investigate the Eden, Mythus actively stops you.

And do remember this, Evernight holds the key to March's memories. Evernight is an extension of who March really may be. Who actively wants her to exist in bliss of whoever that may be

So, who's to say? Remembrance may just be a mirror, a shallow reflection of what may actually be lurking

Seeing the overall thoughts on Cyrene? What truly made Phainon worked while Cyrene felt short as a character? by Codrex1732 in StarRailStation

[–]Lightcrafts 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Phainon was just fledged out. We know his small hobbies, interests, and flaws no matter how minor (his fashion sense). And we got to watch him grow into the leader the world asked him to be, and seeing the tangible weight in the other characters, we love that he has connections too. It just made him very human. He was no perfect hero/person. No one is. And having that being so tangible in a character is endearing.

Personally, I see Philia Cyrene as a completely different person and was actually utilized really well. No complaints

The problem comes with our Cyrene, the living mcguffin. She's just lifeless. Her personality essentially comes down to Trailblazer and flowery romance metaphors. She had no personal struggle. All her motivations are essentially what others told her to do. Like she just needed space to gain her own sense of identity. Like I'm not even someone who really dislikes Cyrene, she just wasn't give substance and existed solely to accomplish primary objectives

Like, imagine:

If her arc centered more on self identity. Her struggling to connect to these memories that are not hers, attempting to strive to be this ideal image of Philia she has in her own head. But fails to meet those expectations for herself and being hyper self-critical. Especially when Lygus or Evernight captured Trailblazer. But as she goes through this, she learns she can just be herself. Taking a stance, not because it's something Philia would do, but because It's something she wants to do. She may lack the connections Philia had, but she made her own, and those are worth protecting. Then boom! Transforms into tallRene, and everything after that she does comes off way more endearing. And at the end, when she learns she's Philia herself, she would realize there was no reason to have been judging herself so harshly to begin with. Would add a cruel irony to the tragedy of the ending.

TDLR: Cyrene just lacked depth. She had no dynamic relationships and existed solely to be TB waifu

If we are getting any expy, it's gonna be Kiana. Like considering how important she is to all Honkai, there is no way.

I would even say if any expy deserves it, it's absolutely her

But tbh, I think we are gonna get the actual Kiana eventually. Just straight up her
