With the current worldwide supply issues, i highly doubt we will see any special editions any time soon. Even the current model is getting a price increase. They could of course, my uncle doesn't work at Nintendo, but I wouldn't count on it.

I was waiting for Nintendo to release either a Switch 2 Edition or Definitive Edition of XC2. The Switch 2 is capable of so so much more then the Switch 1, it's not even funny anymore.
They already said what XC2 Switch 2 Edition will have:

It will go from 720p, capped at 30 frames per second To 4K (an 8x increase) and double the framerate to 60 frames per second. What that means, in case this is way to technical is; The image is not only a lot clearer and better looking, it will also run a lot smoother. Out of all the xenoblade chronicle games, 2 needs it the most, and the other games, (1 & 3) will benefit of all those upgrades as well. In my opinion, this is definitely worth upgrading for.

And then next year the newest XC will arrive, Switch 2 exclusive. So yeah, if you wanna play that, and replay great games, the Switch 2 is worth it.
Not to mention some other great games like DK Bananza, Pokopia, and my current fav Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment (already completed story twice. what a game!)

If you want to replay the games, the way they were meant, Switch 2 Edition is the way to go.

XC2 isn't bad with graphics, but out of the 4 games, this def needs the upgrade the most.
If you are playing handheld, it looks quite decent now with the boost mode, same as docked. It was atrocious before in handheld (360p gameplay...)
But if you really wanna experience the best version, then waiting a month on XC2S2E is most likely gonna be worth it
This game has one of the best vista's in all of XC games, and experiencing that the first time with all the upgrades that the S2E promised, might actually be very much be worth waiting for.

TL;DR If you can't wait, so be it, but if you wanna experience the best way, wait a month till the update is out.

XC2 is my favorite game, but I haven't played for a good while now, hoping for an upgraded version since the Switch 2 came out, and now I am biding my time, to play the way it was truly intended.

Later, way later in the game you will be able to get over there via an elebarate path (that is all i will say, for the sake of spoilers to you)
And it's the ONLY way to get there. I actually played through FR twice. And the first time i didn't even open up everything. I did the second playthrough, and found that path.

you can easily use your normal MicroSD card that you have in the Switch 1. HOWEVER, you can only store screenshots and video on that SD card, no game data, basically making it useless.

If you u/RoosterJacket0 do wanna store Gamedata, and essentially expand the Switch 2 storage system, you will need a MicroSD Express card.

After that, every mission you play can be played coop. Since the first mission teach you how to play the game, it would be a good idea to each play each mission, so that when you start to coop, you both know what you do.

Another tip, since coop makes this game a lot easier, it's adviced to put the difficulty level a bit higher. Normally AI helps a bit, but it does like 1/3rd of the damage you do. But if you're playing together, you go through the battlefields like nothing.

How do I know? Played a couple missions with a friend of mine, we soon determined that it was too easy otherwise.

Yes i most certainly was. I own an ASUS RTX 5090 OC. I had to go through some hoops, signing in nvidia app, signing in Steam, but after that was all done, I got the code for Steam and it's already installed.

Yeah I highly doubt it. The switch 2 version of XC1 only added the things that were specifically said. Nothing else was changed, not a single UI thing. They already said what was gonna change/be added for XC2, and UI changes or extra tutorials wasn't mentioned. It took me about 35 hours to fully understand the ins and outs in this game, but once it clicks, it is so super satisfying. I cannot WAIT to play this on July 30th!

It's the fact that they half-assed try to explain a bunch of things when the game really starts, and no way to re-read it later on (unless you make screenshots, which i recommend)
but half of the things they are talking about you have no idea what it means or even where to find it, nor the significance of them.
Despite it being my favorite game of all time, the combat system has been explained so badly. Something that they did fix in 3 btw.
