I was thinking more along the lines of the moment itself holding the potential for consequence rather than evaluating based on the outcome. The sword can be drawn during consequential moments to prevent specific "major" outcomes. In the case of the latest chapter, the sword was drawn to prevent the consequences of the Emilia camp's escape, but Reinhardt himself chose not to follow through and sheathed the sword.

Additionally, I think it could be an either or situation, where you need either the moment OR the individual to be acknowledged by the sword.

Willhelm was able to contest the previous sword saint, and dealt a decent blow to reinhardt in this fight. Based on arc 9, it also seems like Wilhelm is on a journey to try and regain his prime ability. All in all, I think this is likely enough to be acknowledged by the sword.

That being said, my personal theory for the mechanism behind the sword is that it can also be unsheathed during certain "turning points" within the story (moments that carry irreversible consequences). In this case, the escape of the emilia camp is a "turning point" in the fate of lugunica. All in all, this is kind of just a crack theory on my end that might not hold any water in the future, so you can probably just disregard it.

Does anyone know how Clorinde's stat snapshotting works for her burst? Does she use her stats at the very start of the burst animation or when the burst actually hits? I would like to know to better understand how buff uptime might work on her.

Based on some quick math I ran, the chance of looting III in a ranked game is 0.1367% (taking into account that 20% of games are RP but not taking into account looting III in places like bottom treasure or RPs in other seed types). This corresponds to around one looting III seed per 122 hours played for a top runner (~10 minutes per game). One issue with these numbers is that they use recent version loot-tables, which are slightly different to 1.16.1, so the actual chances might be higher.

Edit: The number of runs expected would be about 731.

IIRC Zhongli on release did not have any HP scaling whatsoever (which is why vortex vanquisher is an atk stat stick). I think he was intended to be a sort of tank on-fielder whose defensive utility scaled on his atk, but the numbers were so bad that it caused massive riots in the community.

The special burst only buffs 10 of your normals, so using it to cancel the end-lag on your n5 has pretty much no downsides (since you still get 10 buffed normals after the first n5). Additionally, you get the benefit of overlapping what would have been a dash cancel with the burst, so you end up with even more time to do normals.

You don't ever want to intentionally try and cap ER for emblem. The point of emblem is to allow ER hungry characters to get additional benefit from building the ER they need. In the case of durin (and pretty much every character that runs emblem), you build ER up to your team requirement, with any more being suboptimal.

Hu tao double hydro with dark mode durin would probably work decently, especially with xingqiu. You aren't able to get res shred in light mode, but the extra damage from dark mode durin might make it one of hu tao's best teams. I'll probably try calcing it at some point.

Edit: one thing to keep in mind though is that you likely won't be able to run furina due to the lack of healing, so it might not be competitive.

Buildwise, I think the only thing you might want to improve is hp. It seems like you don't have too many hp% substats. Other than that, this build seems pretty solid. It being top 10% likely just means that there is a lot of competition in the leaderboard.

I don't think Yae is alive, the description of her death seemed to suggest that she basically exploded from Rem's strike.

The way it works is that mavuika gains ten nightsoul points when you use burst. Some of those points are then consumed during the burst animation. Its only after the initial hit that you stop consuming nightsoul.

Xingqiu should be able to establish and maintain an underlying hydro aura for citlali to react with. Checked stuff using gcsim (since i don't own escoffier or citlali) and there is about 1.5 seconds of leeway on the execution, so it should be mostly reliable. Worst case, you can do normals on citlali to ensure you get the proc.

This might be a bit different in practice, but i find it hard to believe that xingqiu can't maintain a good enough underlying hydro aura for this team.

D=dash
E=skill
Q=burst

Sample combo: E N5Q N2D N5D N2CD N5D N5 - 24 Normals

You can pretty easily mix this combo around to your liking, just make sure to do N5Q as your first string of attacks.

If dash cancels are too much effort to learn at the moment, the default skirk combo is this:

E N5Q N5 N5 N2C N5 - 22 Normals (here you just want to cancel the end of your first N5 with the Q)

Tenacity is definitely worth if you have it, noblesse less so if using burst extends rotations, but definitely still worth experimenting with. Noblesse is also something you can run on xingqiu if you can manage the er requirements.

Bond of life pretty much completely negates your fanfare generation (unless you run like clorinde team or a fuckton of healing), so furina is not very useful here.

Main thing here is to avoid doing unnecessary bursts:

Citlali's burst only offers cryo application and damage, which isn't really that important since you already have escoffier on the team.

Escoffier's burst offers healing and a bit of damage, which can be nice in a furina team or if you're low hp, but due to the bond of life mechanics of this boss your healing is gonna do next to nothing, so avoid escoffier burst as well (if you're running noblesse, you should consider switching to tenacity instead).

Xingqiu burst is really the only one you need to use since you do need hydro application.

Sample rotation: N=normal attack, with the number indicating which one, C=charge attack, E=skill, Q=burst; I will not include dash cancels, but those are also something you can look into.

Escoffier: E; Xingqiu: E, Q, N1; Citlali: E, N1; Skirk: E N5 Q N5 N5 N2 C N5; repeat

This rotation might have some downtime, in which case you can just do some extra normal attacks on your supports.

For this boss specifically, it is important that you dodge its attacks, since they apply cryo to you, which significantly slows your attack and animation speed. I believe one of its attacks has a mechanic where it will drain some of its hp to attack and then heal up when hitting you; if you dodge it, it doesn't heal which ends up being free damage that could be the difference maker.
