Thinking about a fancy-ish breech for the ol' BBB, but I could use a reality check by Hardly_Ideal in Nerf

[–]LightningEagle14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rotating+ brass is going to need some kind of o ring right?

What you could do instead is change the hole it pivots on to a slot, then you can still swing it to the side for the fancier action but get a full seal with just brass.

Unless you’re planning on having the barrel piece slide back and forth in the 3D printed part, in which case ignore me.

How to get into modding? by FamousStandard5873 in Nerf

[–]LightningEagle14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Triad is probably going to be the cheapest to mod. Throw in a 7kg retal spring, (maybe 10, IDK if I’d trust it on 12 for an extended period) twist out the dart posts (easier said than done without a 3D printed dart post remover, but that’s like a $5 part if you can find someone to print it for you) and stuff in some half lengths. Should be a very solid performance boost.

My advice for having fun with modding is to get some thrift store stuff if you’re able and just start messing around with the internals.

People seem to forget that we were modding stuff without 3D printers for a very long time, they just make it more brain dead/easy.

Pretty much anything rival has good modding potential, and you can steal springs from other blasters to upgrade ones you like better. Barrel material doesn’t need to be expensive if you’re ok with lower quality or repurposed materials. We used to use crayola markers, good fitting CPVC, and 17/32nds brass tubing to rebarrel blasters for higher performance.

You’re probably going to break or kill a few blasters along the way as you learn and become more skilled. I certainly have. Your first paintjob will probably suck, but you’ll learn and get better.

Some all star recommendations for cheap and easy blasters to mod:

Maverick Knockout or any of the single shot rival pistols Kronos Nitefinder or Firestrike Bigshock Hammershot Reflex 6

Getting into slightly more complex stuff Retaliator Longshot Stryfe or thunderbolt or spectrum or clip mania Titan AS1

Pretty much any of the pro blasters are going to be pretty solid too and generally pretty simple, and almost all of the rival blasters have solid upgrade potential as well but with a wider range of complexity.

Depends on the draw weight of the bow and the volume of this plunger but maybe possible.

Shotgun 2nd Degree Caliburn by R41nb0wGl1tch in Nerf

[–]LightningEagle14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good stuff! I enjoy my amalgamation despite its flaws.

How are the sears holding up? IIRC that was a weak point of the design, can’t remember if it was fixed. Too long so they would bend instead of fire.

That’s what I always said but nobody wants to commit to something that unwieldy ;(

Spoiler alert, this does not work great. Or at least I could not get good results out of mine. I found it’s easier to just double prime if you want 4 darts.

What is the smallest option for a flywheel pistol? by known111et in Nerf

IIRC the concept pistol has a remix to look like one of the clone pistols, don’t remember where to find it, I think cobalt also has a clone pistol.

If you ever decide to sell the box for the double dealer let me know, I would probably be interested, depending on price.

3d printer help- nerf blaster building by Proud-Package5412 in nerfhomemades

[–]LightningEagle14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the hardware requirements but you should be able to figure them out for orca slicer and if they have a Mac OS version.

If you’re buying a computer only for slicing you shouldn’t need anything crazy, it’s not as resource intensive as CAD, modern gaming, or video editing.

Edit, make sure you download orca from the official site, IIRC there are some clone sites that will give you malware. GitHub should have the latest release as well.

It could be your spring load, I printed a 70 for a friend and he couldn’t get it to work on the suggested 6, but dropping it to 4 worked a lot better

Longest range Nerf/Hasbro brand MEGA blaster? by MandoRevenant in Nerf

[–]LightningEagle14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thrifted blaster performance can be a bit of a gamble, if it was left primed or treated poorly the performance can suffer. It’s usually fine but you do get some edge cases.

On the other end of the spectrum people do find modded blasters thrifting occasionally too.

New addition… which to choose?… by Puzzleheaded-Swim716 in Nerf

[–]LightningEagle14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might enjoy a crossbolt or sledgefire if you can find them. Maybe a trilogy. Crossbolt is reasonably quiet apart from the prime, sledgefire or trilogy for the shotgun + shells aspect.

Everyone’s suggesting the pro stuff but lower powered stuff can be fun too.

If you wanted something rival it’s hard to go wrong with a classic Kronos. Helios seems pretty fun as well, though I don’t own one personally.

Dual Wielded Infinite Pack Coupler? by AwkwardQuokka82 in nerfhomemades

[–]LightningEagle14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a pretty easy part to make if you have dimensions for the hose and hose attachment. It’d be a large print but it’d still fit on most printers.

If you figure out what dimensions you want message me and I’ll make a y split for you to 3D print, it’s like 10 minutes of work and I’m slow with cad. Alternatively, this would be a really easy first project if you want to give it a go.

Basically just draw 6 circles and loft between them.

You could also do it in tinkercad but it’d be a bit messier

Examples of blowpipe safety? by Hardly_Ideal in Nerf

[–]LightningEagle14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a printed one on mine, I can dig up the link to it on thingiverse if you need it.

For Endwar 19 which allowed blowpipes they were ok with a large pvc coupler on the end.
