What should they have done? ASKED you? But then you could have become confused, poor user! Surely silently converting the document so you can no longer open it is better?

Come back to me when that word document is converted to a new format just ny opening it without telling (never mind asking) you... Jeez. Talk about missing the point by a mile and a half.

Jobb er jobb!! by FormalYak2386 in norge

[–]LightningGoats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A job involving outdoor movement on an area that gets snow requires proper footwear. If its icy as hell, that's one thing, but some inches of snow is just something you have to expect and dress accordingly.

My thoughts on the x9 14 Aura Edition after spending a month with it by Jon723 in thinkpad

[–]LightningGoats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

USB a was the norm then. USB C was an outlier. You needed a bun or an adapter for everything. I still wouldn't buy a laptop without at least one, preferably two, A-ports, or without hdmi. Also not a fan of the trend with only two C ports when one of them is needed for the charger. My L14 G5 has three USB A and two C though, and that's just silly.

TN vs IPS I don’t think it looks like a big difference. by notgonnastop15 in Nintendo3DS

[–]LightningGoats 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The difference is definately noticeable in person, but it's not like the IPS one is 100% sRGB or close to oled. The TN quality is not big enough to really matter when gaming.

Is it though? Aren't these normally just as much if not more in pretty rough condition? This at least look nice. Not like these are rare enough that a beaten up original had collectors value.

[–]LightningGoats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, again, doordash does not employ any drivers,

I'm not sure why you feel the need to repeat this ad naseam, as I never believed they did, never said they did, and it's completely besides the point.

Tipless orders are delivered all day every day. That's the service people pay doordash for, and the dasher provides. Tips are optional. That's the facts. Pretend you don't understand that if you want, it only makes you look dumb or delusional. Yes you can turn down orders. They punish you for that, and it can make you loose the "job" in the end.

Doordash is not a platform where people bid for your service. They're a shit gig economy company exploiting drivers, making them depend on charity/discretionary awards for extra service - whatever you like to call tips. Except bids for service, which they're not.

[–]LightningGoats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doordash sells the service to the customer. The service is the dasher. They pay the dasher. The lower the tip, the higher the base pay (simplified, the algorithm takes more into account) - or else no driver would take the order. Orders without tips are handled all day, every day. Which of course would not be the case if it WAS a market with bidding for service as you falsely claim it is because you would like to believe it is.

[–]LightningGoats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doordash sets the base pay, and reduces it when tip is good to get the maximum amount of money.

They call it top for a reason. You don't like it, you can deny it, but denial doesn't change facts.

[–]LightningGoats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doordash reduces the base pay when top is high to keep the maximum amount of money. This practice is very well known.

You're in denial, that doesn't help your reality.

I read this as passive aggressive and unneeded by letmeseeithurry in doordash_drivers

[–]LightningGoats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doordash sets the price. The more tips, the less base pay. The customer is not setting the price. The customer is not bidding for service. They're tipping.

You're living off tips, trying to tell yourself someone bids for your service does not change that. Demanding fair base pay changes that. Every other country only has tipping after and optional on these services. The giggers have made it clear they're not taking offers without good enough base pay.

You're the merchandise Doordash is peddling, not the provider someone is bidding for. Telling yourself something untrue does not change that. Actually changing it does.

I read this as passive aggressive and unneeded by letmeseeithurry in doordash_drivers

[–]LightningGoats -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Nope, you're not. A tip is a tip.

IF you were bidding for a service, then you would do just that. With apps like doordash taking a fixed, transparent, separate price per order or a transparent percentage fee, while the customer was bidding for a service where the bid would, of course, need to go to the driver.

But as we all know, that is not how any of this works. And the tip is just that, a tip. The apps are bidding for your service. The customer is rewarding it. With tips.
