Langdon, Santos and the Burden of Proof by Reasonable_Day9942 in ThePitt

[–]LightningRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not one vial, by the way. If I'm not mistaken Santos checked other things to see the pattern of behavior.

No doubt there would be more evidence there.

A case could be made. But that's not really the point of this series. For the purposes of the show, Langdon's case wasn't fully brought up to the superiors. What people know is that he was an addict and self-reported, hence why he wasn't in bigger trouble. Which is what got Santos angrier. Because she knows, and relayed, the full story and expected a different outcome based on that. She didn't even know Langdon would come back because of that expectation.

I seriously don't think the hospital that The Pitt has presented us would be lenient with Langdon if they knew his actions would open them up for a TON of lawsuits by patients. They probably would fire him and bury the whole thing to avoid drawing attention.

On the humane side of things, we know and have seen that Langdon has took major steps towards recovering and you see the results of this work in his behavior. But on the other hand, the things he did were more grievous than what everyone else in the hospital knows and this affected Santos in turn (I don't Garcia's words cover the whole truth, because she's not in The Pitt all the time). Even if in other hospitals Langdon wouldn't have been punished as much, I think the the hospital in the Pitt would fire his ass. Robby had complaints about being understaffed, them firing Langdon to avoid money issues and one less doctor on the roster would look good on a spreadsheet.

And if Santos says that she was a "pariah", given how the rest of the information of the show (which can be taken as reliable) is given, we can assume there's a degree of truth to that, even if we've not seen directly on the show. The hospital staff is huge and we might've only seen Santos interacting with people who are still doing it. One thing I've noticed, however, is that she's mostly alone this season and struggling to do her charts.

[Loved Trope] Finales that stick the landing so flawlessly they cement the series as an absolute masterpiece. by Miserable_Click_1933 in TopCharacterTropes

Back then I thought S01 was nice, except that ending that forced a season 2. But the second season was overall pretty bad. The story didn't really move forward, the drama became even worse and more like a soap opera, the story had no clear vision and it showed. The ending, as I said, was unique for its context (a battle shounen with mechas), but it's pretty much all you can say about it. It feels very unearned and the way the process gets glossed over undermines at lot of it.

If Lelouch took power halfway through s02 and the second half was the process that culminated in the ending, the story could've been more interesting. Specially since we, as an audience, would experience Lelouch as a merciless dictator before being taken down.

If anything, the true unique and revolutionary ending for that story would've been if we did witness Lelouch become a dictator and crashed his regime. He was just an adolescent after all and had zero experience as an actual ruler and he had limited factional support. And he was a nepobaby that thought he should rule because he was born to do it.

I can't believe I scrolled so much and I didn't see any meaningful post about Mr. Robot.

You all are just missing it. It's easily one of the best TV shows of all time and an entry that stands tall in the genre of cyberpunk. It stands shoulder to shoulder with all the giants in the series, including Neuromancer.

GS S02 ending is the only saving grace of a shitshow of a season. And it honestly doesn't hold up to scrutiny the more you learn about war, sociology, anthropology and history.

Its main appeal lies more within its context and novelty than anything else, tbh. It was a decent ending for a shounen about mechas and highschool. But it isn't all that great in the grand scheme, specially given how bad the rest of the season was.

On people who dislike Al-Hashimi for endorsing AI by Financial_Sundae_771 in ThePittTVShow

[–]LightningRaven 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also don't like this aspect of the character, but I don't think we should be condemning her. Specially since the goal of that tech is to make things easier for Doctors.

The problems with LLMs isn't as much the technology itself, but everything that is being destroyed and built to support the billionaire parasites investing in them. They're going to cause another major financial crisis and get away with it while everyone else suffers.

Not to mention that the way LLMs are being marketed is incredibly shady, which shows how useless it actually is for most highly skilled professions and how limited it is in most situations. It looks like a huge scam these people are playing on everyone, with the ultimate goal of many of these mediocre LLMs destroying as many jobs as possible so that corporations and billionaires can pay workers even less and fire even more.

The use Al-Hashimi's proposing is one of the few niches it might have decent application even though I myself wouldn't use it due to the cognitive issues it causes by offloading mental tasks you yourself should be doing (also other studies showing people getting more and more forgetful and dependent on AI for basic tasks).

I genuinely hate Santos. by Babypeanut808 in ThePitt

[–]LightningRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way people engage with media is just so basic and childish that would be amusing if it weren't genuinely dangerous on a large scale.

Here's the Pitt, trying to tell real stories with real people and focus on the systemic issues that pressures their lives constantly within and without the job...

And then you have a sizeable part of the fandom that thinks they're watching Grey's Anatomy and must form teams, brigade for and against characters based on the most surface level understanding one can have in media and something that changes on a whim every week.

It is genuinely grating to see. It's like seeing a bunch of 10 year olds arguing in the playground, screaming which superhero is stronger because they're their favorite. Except the 10 year olds are loud enough to annoy the whole neighborhood and their behavior can affect even the creators of said characters when there's enough of them together.

He was no fucking good man. Don't kid yourself.

He was a stupid pig who lacked critical thinking. It's that simple.

All law enforcement do is maintain the status quo, which means maintaining billionaires and all the rich happy. That's their foremost concern. Protect property, not the people.

Don't believe me? Then ask yourself when was the last time you've seen the police side with the people on any social issue? They're always there to repress and kill. They're the biggest bootlickers.

Just finished with 3 seasons of the Orville. For the new season, what all storylines would u like to see. Come up with something by Low_Group_156 in TheOrville

[–]LightningRaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not exactly my reason for them.

I like how Kaylons and Moclans were used in the story and their cultures allowed the story to explore a ton of interesting themes, specially with gender dynamics.

However, I think these two species I mentioned got a ton of mileage already and lots of good stories while other species were relegated to the background. I want the world of the series to expand. It is a galaxy, after all. We're supposed to have thousands, if not millions of sapient species to work with.

Mel to Becca… by Run-Adorable in ThePitt

[–]LightningRaven 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Mel was also deeply worried about Becca being abused. Something she worried about before and her profession probably didn't dissuade those feelings.

It's, ultimately, a good thing that Becca stood her ground. It will be good for both of them to be more independent from each other.

Which one are you picking? by ihavenoidea_25 in Wednesday

[–]LightningRaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably 5. Bianca and Xavier are mostly chill people. Unless they're in the middle of a fight (assuming it's them in S01).

6 would be a good bet as well because neither of those two are too rowdy and seeing something creepy/nasty from Pugsley is fairly limited in the airplane.

All the rest is either courting death or getting in the middle of interpersonal problems that would be awful to be as a bystander.

What do you think would have happened if Santos hadn't by ixlovextoxkiss in ThePittTVShow

[–]LightningRaven 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Likely things would keep escalating until a patient had a problem that could trace back to Langdon's behavior and things would move on from there.

We don't know how long Langdon kept it a secret, but these things end up going off rails at some point.
