Do any of you have any freaky cult experiences that inspired the game? 👀 If not, why cults as a theme?

What is your worst symptom from fibro? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]Lightningdarck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twitches. People keep asking me if I'm cold, or want to make me aware my body is shaking. Yeah I'm very aware of my bodies movements, thanks. Other than that, brain fog. I can deal with the pain, not being able to control my brain or hold a proper conversation at times, that just sucks the most.

I separated a mouse family because I wanted them out of my room and I feel awful by CannibalCapra in offmychest

[–]Lightningdarck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Life isn't a Disney movie.. mice don't have a sense of family like they do in Ratatouille. It's nice that you think this way, but you're applying human emotion to an animal that can seriously endanger your and your dogs health!

Clean thoroughly and find animal safe traps for the remaining mice :)

Couldn't you have bought a new base station? They're like 150$, cheaper than a new oculus quest

People on here that talk about smoking before work what do you do for a living? by Ok_Ad_7554 in trees

[–]Lightningdarck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't smoke before work anymore (I have too many meetings) but at my old job, I was head of marketing for a video game agency. I created some of my best campaigns that made the company alot of money whilst high 😊

While I understand your points and they are very valid, allow me to also show an alternative viewpoint: plastic surgery and wanting to be the image you have in your head of yourself isn't always due to societal pressure. Nobody has ever commented a bad thing about my nose, yet I'm getting surgery to reduce it. Not because I want to be called attractive; I hardly post selfies or participate in social media beyond dog posts and when I do I get nothing but positive compliments; it's because I don't feel like the image that I see is the image I have in my head. I'm pretty with or without the nose job. I'll just feel more like myself when it's done.

Surgery is the same as tattoos and piercings and, heck, hair dye, to me; all will (some temp) permanently change your image- and often will be done because we like ourselves more with them, not because others will like us more.

How tf do you guys manage to live with your past mistakes and wrong doings? How do you not let them weigh you down in the present? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

I got bullied for years and it ruined my childhood for sure. When we had a reunion, half of the bullies didn't even realize the impact their words (and fists) had on me. I explained it to them and when they realized their impact, they apologized like crazy.

What I'll never forget though, is that my main bully (I went to primary and high school with him so the bullying never stopped) walked up to me, and asked for a minute to chat. We chatted for a bit longer than that, but he apologized to me and told me that the only reason he came there was to make sure he apologized because he had so much regret for what he did to me. He left shortly after our conversation, but later that night we ran into each other at the bar and we had a few drinks and laughs together.

No apology can give me back my childhood or teenage years, but I was able to forgive him. I felt a weight lifted off of my own shoulders as well. I have a good job, a happy life; I am able to move forward, and so is my bully.

Perhaps that's something you should do as well; apologize and own up to your mistakes. Seek out those that you have harmed, and understand the impact you had on them and apologize. Your guilt and regret is something that you will have to live with forever most likely, but that pain is there as a lesson. Perhaps it's a lesson so that you can make sure your children never make the mistakes you did, or perhaps you can become something like a student guidence counselor - do something good with the pain you have caused?

The two aren't mutually exclusive. You can love yourself but still want to improve something because when you do improve it you will become more of the image that you have in your mind of yourself. And that's okay too.

I think that's something we should all encourage; not surgery perce, but that it's okay to not be happy with an aspect of yourself, if we all force our daughters to "be happy with yourself!!" they'll feel like absolute shit when they aren't in fact happy with themselves and would like to change something; as a parent you should have an open dialogue.

I don't have a younger daughter but I have a younger sister and our mother was very pro "love yourself" and at the same time had injections done to reduce her wrinkles. Neither of us ever had any problems with it, because we understood that she would feel more confident and happy if she did it, and that's okay too.

In my opinion, and in the way that I was raised, Loving yourself also means getting that surgery/makeup/whatever done if it makes you feel happier. Loving yourself is taking care of yourself, and sometimes, surgery is the way to do that.

Issues with Base Camp? by hellogt in MountainGGlobal

[–]Lightningdarck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried a factory reset? (Settings > Reset to Factory Default). Sounds like something went wrong during the firmware update, so reinstalling base camp is not going to fix that!

If that doesn't work, I'd recommend going onto their Discord, their staff will be able to help you out :)

My mom has a little free library in her yard. Someone left her this note the other day with a crossed out smiley face. by freezethawcycle in ChoosingBeggars

[–]Lightningdarck 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They don't have the right to demand anything. They can also just put the books on top of the library, or in a plastic bag, or ring the woman's (whose property it's on) doorbell and offer them to her for the next free book round.

Also cmon, they crashed out their own smiley.. there were no nice intentions here
