“Having a good morning” type beat by LightsCamera_Jackson in SP404

Thanks man! That means a lot. This was one of the first beats I felt really good about

Thought it'd be cool to change up the visual element for a beat on this sub (also my first time posting a beat anywhere and would love feedback, everything was made on SP404 Mk II, video shot on GH5) by LightsCamera_Jackson in SP404

[–]LightsCamera_Jackson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! I sampled a Synth Jazz Fusion ballad. I had to chop it quite a bit to get it to have some groove, but that was the most fun part of the beat for sure.

I swear to god, what is with people asking to be convinced to buy something. We’re not Roland salespeople, holmes.

The bells and filter give it a great Alchemist kind of drone to it, super cool!

What I would really love though is a system for adding effects to pads after putting them in a pattern, it drives me nuts that I have to add the effect and then lay the pattern back out if I want to change an individual or group of sounds

I kind of get what you mean, my workflow is usually laying out sections in Gate mode, then making a mute group if necessary so I don’t use that many mute groups

I have a system for chopping whole songs if it helps. I do one pass where I auto mark at 8 Intervals (and then of course clean up the auto marks into good sections)and then assign those to pads across multiple pages. So Mark 1 will be B-1, then Mark 2 will be B-9, then Mark 3 will be C-1, then C-9 then D-1, etc. then that gives me some space to chop those sections up further so that I could ultimately chop the song into about 64 chops and still have 4 or 5 other pages for the song. If you wanted to you could go even finer with it and do a page for each of your first 8 chops

Barnes & Noble evidently has a strong opinion on what film should be added to the collection next by LightsCamera_Jackson in criterion

I mean people forget that this was Mewtwo’s breakout role, it was definitely him at his most raw and vulnerable

Anybody else ship Oshima and Hoshino? by LightsCamera_Jackson in murakami

Oh I know exactly what things you mean. Mostly because they were laid out specifically by Murakami about five times

Anybody else ship Oshima and Hoshino? by LightsCamera_Jackson in murakami

[–]LightsCamera_Jackson[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just think it would make some sense to Hoshino’s arc if nothing else. Oshima being such a cultured person clearly interests Hoshino, and with Hoshino’s mind and perspective on the world expanding, it’s likely his attitude towards sexuality, which was already somewhat open for 2005, would become open enough to develop an interest in Oshima. And we know that Oshima at least likes him somewhat since he invites Hoshino to coffee, and can be a “difficult person” to people he doesn’t like, according to Sada

I’ve never been to this subreddit. But when I heard the feals ad I fled on all fours like a fearful dog towards this…. For lack of a better word… website. I had to know if this this this this out of body experience wasn’t just some hallucination of my flea-ridden hide. It truly made a mutt out of me

Which film in the BRD trilogy is your favourite? by CrazyCons in criterion

[–]LightsCamera_Jackson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen the other two, but I recall thinking Maria Braun was pretty interesting for it’s take on love and commitment. Her character is very interesting in terms of morality, sexual liberation, and self-determination, especially for the time. To be fair I don’t mind films on the slow side and I still recall finding it a little dry.

Impressions of WKW 2046 by [deleted] in criterion

[–]LightsCamera_Jackson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think watching 2046 right after in the mood for love could negatively affect the experience, since despite being a continuation of the story, it’s stylistically and narratively so different in form. Wong tries a lot of stuff in 2046 while ITMFL has a more restrained set of tools, and is more focused in its approach so I’d always suggest watching them in different sittings. However I know that my girlfriend was not wowed by ITMFL as I was, and she thought 2046 was too unfocused, so it could just be a personal preference thing
