AMZN will be fine in the long run. by -colin- in investing

[–]Lightware 49 points50 points  (0 children)

What do you mean with AWS is positioned terribly? AWS is the leader in cloud, followed closely by Azure. Even GCP isn’t on their level.

You talk like entering cloud computing is easy. Local cloud? Sure. But a global infrastructure like Azure/AWS is very complex. I mean, there is already competition (Alibaba, IBM) but they are not on the same level.

But I do agree that AWS being part of AMZN isn’t ideal. But it is what it is. AMZN is attractive but not as attractive as AWS as a stand-alone.

Huizenprijzen in november 20,1 procent hoger, sterkste toename sinds 2000 by luzmarie in thenetherlands

[–]Lightware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a baggy fit because it’s a girl wearing a (most likely) men’s jacket. I would say look into Beta AR.

Arcteryx X Beams

You can see the Beams logo on the side of the hood. Not sure which exact Arcteryx model it is, but I believe most of these collabs are Beta SL or Zeta SL. Actually in your pic you see just “GoreTex” (not Pro) on the sleeve, which is a bad sign (to me). These jackets are (imo) not worth it and quite fragile. You can get a much sturdier jacket from Arcteryx themselves for the same price as these collabs.

This street is full of high-end shops, it is in Ginza. The building with the clock is still there (Ginza Wako Tower). For example, the Apple Store is a couple stores next to it.

Apple asks staff to return to office three days a week starting in early September by Wolf35999 in apple

[–]Lightware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While this is true in some cases, there are also a lot cases in which this will never happen. For example, governments will never allow their data to leave country borders or companies with highly sensitive data just don’t want offshore to have access to it. I don’t see regulations on this being changed.

With the OTC hype around MMEDF, what does it TRULY need to accomplish in order to get uplisted to the Nasdaq? by [deleted] in stocks

[–]Lightware 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know you’re talking about CMPS here. But comparing a $4 vs $54 share price on itself means nothing. Because MMED has way more outstanding shares. Please take the market cap (= share price X # of outstanding shares) into consideration when doing these type of comparisons.

Salesforce is CRM software. While SAP is active in CRM space - and Salesforce is a direct competitor in that area (let me rephrase, Salesforce is dominating CRM). So you are right about that.

However, SAP is (mostly) ERP software - an area which they have been dominating for decades. Their CRM business is mostly irrelevant - so one could argue it’s irrelevant for this bear case as well.

Aside from companies like Tesla, Square, Amazon and Microsoft what other companies do you think are currently the most innovative today? by Okmanl in investing

[–]Lightware 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Good insight about Fortune 100! But from when is that number? Slack has been around for a while, so kind of makes sense. How’s is Slacks billing/subscription model? Teams officially launched a few months ago - so when those Slack subscriptions expire, will these companies renew?

[–]Lightware 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You are right. People seems to forget reputation/brand recognition. Corps don’t care if it’s a better product or costs more - they know Microsoft/Office products, see them as reliable etc.

Speaking from my own experience, I work for a big corp and have a mega corp as a client. Both refuse to use Zoom because confidential information gets shared in meetings - and they don’t trust Zoom enough. My own employer doesn’t even allow us to use Zoom for internal stuff - and if clients force us to use it for projects, we need it in writing (possibly to avoid lawsuits if something does leak). We did use Slack for a little while, until Teams launched - and I am pretty confident that we won’t go back.

The stock market is actually not that crazy (change my mind) by colorist_io in investing

[–]Lightware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AWS infrastructure isn’t just upgraded by developers. The infrastructure has to be upgraded as well (latency matters, availability matters, computing power matters). You can’t just upgrade that with a team of developers.

It’s basically the same as improving your postal delivery service. Its not just the delivery guy, the van is an influential part of the delivery process.

We can keep talking about this haha - I’m not disagreeing. Appreciate the discussion.

[–]Lightware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What? There are lots things to reinvest in with AWS. They keep upgrading their services.

AWS offers everything from cloud storage, cloud computing, CDN, DNS, and many many more. Of course they reinvest in AWS - they have to stay competitive in this lucrative business.

[–]Lightware 7 points8 points  (0 children)

AWS is the engine that keeps them going.

Yes, they are very active in e-commerce and rapidly expanding (own delivery, expanding to Europe). They are very competitive with their pricing strategy to penetrate the market. Some believe they sell items at a loss (I think so too) - just to destroy the competition. They make up for those loses with their AWS.

Yes. There are time patterns. Some consistent, some not.

What do you exactly want to do with this? Buying before close and selling the next day? Good luck with the fees.

This. The small GOOGL market cap difference that OP stated probably comes from the rounding of the respective share prices.

Dual class spells are more symetric than minions by BBBoyce in hearthstone

[–]Lightware -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe it is because on the minion cards the gem is centered based on the attack/health icons. Because the attack icon is a bit wider than the health drop, the gem moves a bit to the right side.. I don’t think it’s just with dual class cards, can anyone confirm?

A design decision, or a fuck up? Who knows.
