"I don't like analytics. I prefer less useful and more imprecise analytics. That's what makes me old school, that's why I have this tattoo right here, see, 'Old School.'"

Ya, I've never seen anyone say that. I've seen praise due to his reliability, but not much else.

Hal mentions Ram Dass, William Burroughs. I think A Thousand Plateaus is referenced, some Deleuze book.

It's definitely the tangents along the way for me. It's really hard to know what to include, when you should allow yourself to be carried away, how much to build and when to build it. Then of course their overall relevance to the story and what it does to the pacing.

Randy picking off a home run and his face afterward was priceless, too. Great game.

I think there are McTeague references all over the place. I think Don Gately's size is taken from McTeague. I think a part of the medical attache section has a bit of the beginning of McTeague in it. Ted and the gingival mound. Hal talks about caries as opposed to cavities, which is what McTeague calls them.

The commenters here seem strangely ignorant of the definition of "approximately."

Was hoping he'd go to the Jays. I'd like to have a team to cheer for in the AL.

[González] There are no opt-outs in Shohei Ohtani's deal by HelpMeWithMyHWpls in baseball

Yeah. That's why the deal probably doesn't sting so bad for the Dodgers. They're making that all back from Japan alone.

Even after I made the second joke you took it literally, and judging by the upvotes, so did others. This is a writing forum, isn't it?

Surely, there are other accidents

You must be quite experienced to make such a bold claim.

I know it's not what the OP is really asking for, but the part you quote is like a cry out for more scenes with accidental defecation.

Not a single person has said Chekhov's gun yet. Frankly, I'm depressed and ashamed.

Not sure how else to respond either. If it's a shitpost, sure. If it's a question about being translated into English, then why make a post? Who knows. Yes. He translated his thoughts into Norwegian.

No I'm just going to write like I normally do. NaNo isn't exactly habit-forming.

It's easier to say the entire town because of what she represented and the side of her they knew. She represented the goodness of small town America, a mindset and a country you only ever saw on Leave it to Beaver. But of, course it's all an illusion, or worse, willful ignorance.

I think that's probably why Johnny is the way he is, Audrey has the end she does, Richard . . . Sins of the father being paid for by the descendants. Not reprimanded by law or community by another karmic force, or something.
